Aerodynamic/Stealthy/Structural Multidisciplinary Design Optimization of Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle显示文摘An optimization strategy is proposed to deal with the aerodynamic/stealthy/structural multidisciplinary design optimization(MDO) issue of unmanned combat air vehicle(UCAV).In applying the strategy, the MDO process is divided into two levels,i.e.system level optimization and subsystem level optimization. The system level optimization is to achieve optimized system objective(or multi-objective) through the adjustment of global external configuration design variables. The subsystem level optimization consists of the aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design and the structural optimization. The aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design aims at achieving the minimum aerodynamic drag coefficient under the constraint of stealthy requirement through the adjustment of local external configuration design variables. The structural optimization is to minimize the structural weight by adjusting the dimensions of structural components.A flowchart to implement this strategy is presented. The MDO for a flying-wing configuration of UCAV is employed to illustrate the detailed process of the optimization. The results indicate that the overall process of the surrogate-based two-level optimization strategy can be implemented automatically, and quite reasonable results are obtained. | Hu Tianyuan,Yu Xiongqing Key Laboratory of Fundamental Science for National Defense-Advanced Design Technology of Flight Vehicle,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2009,22,4: | 21
Restudies on Body Surface of Dung Beetle and Application of Its Bionics Flexible Technique显示文摘A scanning electron microscope was used to observe the structures of the setae on the surface of a dung beetle Copris ochus, Motschulsky. There are lots of setae on the body surface, especially on the ventral part surface and lateral to the legs which are different in size, arrangement and shape. These setae have different lengths and many thorns on the whole seta. The top ends of these setae stand up without furcations which direct uprightly towards the surface of the touched soil. By the method of removing these setae, getting the insect weight before and after digging into the dung we affirm farther that the setae on the beetle body surface form the anti-stick and non-adherent gentle interface. The soil machines and components made by imitating the gentle body surface of beetles have favorable non-adherent results. | Jiurong Sun 1, Jianqiao Li 2, Hong Cheng 1, Zhendong Dai 3, Luquan Ren 2 1.College of Life Sciences, Peking University, Beijing, 100871,P.R. | 3 | Sources of Cretaceous Bimodal Volcanic Rocks in the Coastal Region of Southeastern China -- Constrains of the Sr content and its isotopes显示文摘Cretaceous volcanism in the coastal region of southeastern China was characteristized by occurrenceof bimodal volcanics consisting of basalts and rhyolites, the geneses of which are still controversial. Based on the factthat their isotopic compositions are similar but the Sr content of the former is much higher than that of the latter, thispaper discusses the respective sources of the two end-member rocks, and concludes that basalts were derived fromthe subduction-related enriched upper mantle wedge and their isotopic compositions had not been affected by crustalassimilation, whereas rhyolites were formed by remelting of the old metamorphic basement, but they were mixed upwith the underplating basaltic magmas to various degrees so that their Sr isotopic compositions varied significantlyfrom the sources and tended to be homogeneous to the latter. | XING Guanfu YANG Zhuliang and TAO Kuiyuan Nanjing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences,534 East Zhongshan Road, Nanjing 210016 | 1999 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1999,73,1: | 11
Aoyitake plagiogranite in western Tarim Block, NW China: Age, geochemistry, petrogenesis and its tectonic implications显示文摘SHRIMPP U-Pb zircon age and geochemical and Nd isotopic data are reported for the Aoyitake plagiogranite in western Tarim Block, NW China. The plagiogranite intruded the Middle Pro- terozoic and Lower Carboniferous with an exposure area of ca. 60 km2 and crystallized at 330.7±4.8 Ma. Rock types mainly include tonalite, trondhjemite and minor amounts of diorite and quartz-diorite. Feldspars in the rocks are dominated by oligoclase-andesine, and minor perthite observed locally. The granites are sodic with Na/K ratios (molar) between 4 and 87. Total REE (50-220 ppm) show a clear positive correlation with SiO2. There is no LRRE/HREE fractionation (LaN/YbN=0.5-1.5), me- dium negative Eu anomalies (δ Eu=0.3-0.6), high Y content and low Sr/Y ratio (~1.0). These granites exhibit relatively juvenile Nd T2DM model ages of 470 to 580 Ma and positive εNd(331 Ma) values of 6.23 to 7.65. The aforementioned characteristics are similar to those of ocean island or ocean ridge plagiogranites. However, the regional geology, especially its scale, precludes that the plagiogranite pluton was derived directly from fractionational crystallization of mantle-derived basaltic magma. We interpreted that the primary magma of the pluton might be tonalitic in composition generated by ca. 50% partial melting of the juvenile basaltic crust. The primary magma experienced intensive frac- tionational crystallization, and intruded into the middle to upper crusts to form the granite pluton. In combination with the previous regional geological data, it is concluded that the plagiogranite pluton was emplaced within the Tarim Block in respond to the Carboniferous continental rifting along the Tianshan orogenic belt. | ZHANG Chuanlin1,2, YU Haifeng3, YE Haimin2, ZHAO Yu2 & ZHANG Dongsheng4 1. | 5 | Dynamics analysis and experiment on the fishtailing type of valveless piezoelectric pump with rectangular vibrator显示文摘In recent years, the research and development of piezoelectric pumps have become an increasingly popular topic. Minimization, structure simplification and stronger output become the focus of piezoelectric pumps’ research due to its possible application in MEMS technology. The valveless fishtailing piezoelectric pump, neither a volumetric nor a rotating pump, was invented according to the bionics of fish swimming. With assumption that the head of the fish is fixed while its tail is swinging, fluid would flow toward the end of the tail, achieving the function of a valveless pump. This type of pumps creates a new branch for the piezoelectric pump research, which is proposed for the first time in this paper. The relationship between the flow rates and vibrating frequencies was derived from the interaction between the vibrator and fluid. Numerical simulations with FEM software were conducted to study the first and second vibration modes of the piezoelectric vibrator. The results showed that the maximum amplitude of the vibrator was 0.9 mm at the frequency of 76 Hz for the first vibration mode, while the maximum amplitude of the vibrator was 0.22 mm at the frequency of 781 Hz for the second vibration mode. Experiments were conducted with the Doppler laser vibration measurement system, and the results were compared to those of the FEM simulation. It was shown that in the first vibration mode the piezoelectric vibrator reached its maximum amplitude of about 0.9 mm at the driving frequency of 49 Hz, which gives the flow rate of 2.0 mL/min, in the second vibration mode, the maximum amplitude was about 0.25 mm at the frequency of 460 Hz with the flow rate being 6.4 mL/min. | HUANG Yi1, ZHANG JianHui1, HU XiaoQi1, XIA QiXiao2, HUANG WeiQing1 & ZHAO ChunSheng1 1 Department of Aerospace Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China 2 Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Beijing Union University, Beijing 100020, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,12: | 10

Geochronology and Geochemical Characteristics of the Early Mesozoic Tangquan Pluton in Southwestern Fujian and Its Tectonic Implications显示文摘The Tangquan granodioritic pluton in Datian County, southwestern Fujian, China, which extends in a NE direction with an exposed area of about 130 km2, used to be considered a product of Early Cretaceous magmatism. The present study suggests for the first time that the pluton was formed in the Early Jurassic by using multiple methods for isotopic dating, which give zircon U-Pb ages of 186.8 Ma and 179.0 Ma, Rb-Sr isochron age of 162.02(4.5 Ma, and biotite 40Ar/39Ar plateau age of 158.1(0.7 Ma. The cooling rate for the pluton was relatively low (4.76°C/Ma) during the early stage (183(162 Ma) because of the compressional environment. It was emplaced in a higher cooling rate (50°C/Ma) in an extensional environment during the later stage (162(158 Ma). The granodiorites are metaluminous(peraluminous, relatively enriched in Na2O and depleted in K2O, and characteristic of I-type granites of crust-mantle mixed sources. They are moderately enriched in Rb, Th, Hf and LREE, and depleted in Ti, Nb, Ta and Sr, and have geochemical features of cal-alkaline rocks of an island arc or active continental margin. Their (87Sr/86Sr)i ratio varies from 0.70769 to 0.70822, εNd(t) from -9.68 to -10.07 and TDM from 1.52 to 1.55 Ga. They were formed by mixing of mantle-derived mafic magma with the granitic magma resulting from partial melting of crust-derived materials in an upwelling of the asthenospheric mantle in South China during the Early Mesozoic. | MAO Jianren, HU Qing, XU Naizheng, XIE Fanggui and TAO Kuiyuan, Nanjing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210016 E-mail: mjrmh@sina.com Hao Ziguo and Zhu Xiling | 2003 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2003,77,3: | 10

Delayed Hopf bifurcation in time-delayed slow-fast systems显示文摘This paper presents an investigation on the phenomenon of delayed bifurcation in time-delayed slow-fast differential systems. Here the two delayed's have different meanings. The delayed bifurcation means that the bifurcation does not happen immediately at the bifurcation point as the bifurcation parameter passes through some bifurcation point, but at some other point which is above the bifurcation point by an obvious distance. In a time-delayed system, the evolution of the system depends not only on the present state but also on past states. In this paper, the time-delayed slow-fast system is firstly simplified to a slow-fast system without time delay by means of the center manifold reduction, and then the so-called entry-exit function is defined to characterize the delayed bifurcation on the basis of Neishtadt's theory. It shows that delayed Hopf bifurcation exists in time-delayed slow-fast systems, and the theoretical prediction on the exit-point is in good agreement with the numerical calculation,as illustrated in the two illustrative examples. | ZHENG YuanGuang1 & WANG ZaiHua1,2 1 Institute of Vibration Engineering Research,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China 2 Institute of Science,PLA University of Science and Technology,Nanjing 211101,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,3: | 9
Boron isotopic fractionation in laboratory inorganic carbonate precipitation:Evidence for the incorpora-tion of B(OH)_3 into carbonate显示文摘A laboratory inorganic carbonate precipitation experiment at high pH of 8.96 to 9.34 was conducted, and the boron isotopic fractionations of the precipitated carbonate were measured. The data show that boron isotopic fractionation factors (αcarb-3) between carbonate and B(OH)3 in seawater range 0.937 and 0.965, with an average value of 0.953. Our results together with those reported by Sanyal and collabo-rators show that the αcarb-3 values between carbonate and B(OH)3 in solution are not constant but are negatively correlated with the pH of seawater. The measured boron isotopic compositions of carbonate precipitation (δ11Bcarb) do not exactly lie on the best-fit theoretical δ 11B4-pH curves and neither do they exactly parallel any theoretical δ 11B4-pH curves. Therefore, it is reasonable to argue that a changeable proportion of B(OH)3 with pH of seawater should also be incorporated into carbonate except for the dominant incorporation of B(OH)4- in carbonate . Hence, in the reconstruction of the paleo-pH of sea-water from boron isotopes in marine biogenic carbonates, the use of theoretical boron isotopic frac-tionation factor (α4-3) between B(OH)4- and B(OH)3 is not suitable. Instead, an empirical equation should be established. | XIAO YingKai1,2, LI HuaLing1,3, LIU WeiGuo4, WANG XiuFang1 & JIANG ShaoYong5 1 Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining 810008, China 2 State Key Laboratory of Environmental Geochemistry, Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang 550002, China 3 Nanjing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Nanjing 210016, China 4 State Key Laboratory of Loess and Quaternary Geology, Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi’an 710075, China 5 State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research, Department of Earth Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, China | 2008 | Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,12: | 8
Coupling between elytra of some beetles: Mechanism, forces and effect of surface texture显示文摘Lightweight materials, structures and coupling mechanisms are very important for realizing advanced flight vehicles. Here, we obtained the geometric structures and morphologies of the elytra of beetles and ascertained its coupling zone by using the histological section technique and SEM. We set up a three-dimensional motion observing system to monitor the opening and closing behaviour of elytra in beetles and to determine the motion mechanism. We constructed a force measuring system to measure the coupling forces between elytra. The results show that elytra open and close by rotating about a single axle, where the coupling forces may be as high as 160 times its own bodyweight, the elytra coupling with the tenon and mortise mechanism, surface texture and opening angle between elytra heavily influence the coupling forces. These results may provide insights into the design mechanism and structure for future vehicles of flight. | DAI ZhenDong1, ZHANG YaFeng1, LIANG XingCai2 & SUN JiuRong1,3 1 Institute for Bio-inspired Structure and Surface Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China 2 Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science, Kunming 650223, China 3 College of Life Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China | 2008 | Science China(Life Sciences)2008,51,10: | 8
Stability of a linear oscillator with damping force of the fractional-order derivative显示文摘It begins with the study of damping representation of a linear vibration system of single degree of freedom (SDOF),from the view point of fractional calculus. By using the idea of stability switch,it shows that the linear term involving the fractional-order derivative of an order between 0 and 2 always acts as a damping force,so that the unique equilibrium is asymp-totically stable. Further, based on the idea of stability switch again, the paper proposes a scheme for determining the stable gain region of a linear vibration system under a fractional-order control. It shows that unlike the classical velocity feedback which can adjust the damping force only,a fractional-order feedback can adjust not only the damping force, but also the elastic re-storing force, and in addition,a fractional-order PDα control can either enlarge the stable gain region or narrow the stable gain region. For the dynamic systems described by integer-order derivatives, the asymptotical stability of an equilibrium is guaranteed if all characteristic roots stay in the open left half-plane,while for the systems with fractional-order derivatives, the asymptotical stability of an equilibrium is guaranteed if all characteristic roots stay within a sector in the complex plane. Analysis shows that the proposed method, based on the idea of stability switch, works effectively in the stability analysis of dynamical systems with fractional-order derivatives. | WANG ZaiHua1,2 & HU HaiYan1 1 Institute of Vibration Engineering Research,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China 2 Institute of Science,PLA University of Science and Technology,Nanjing 211101,China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,2: | 7

Improvement of Electrochemical Machining Accuracy by Using Dual Pole Tool显示文摘Electrochemical machining (ECM) is one of the best al ternatives for producing complex shapes in advanced materials used in aircraft a nd aerospace industries. However, the reduction of the stray material removal co ntinues to be major challenges for industries in addressing accuracy improvement . This study presents a method of improving machining accuracy in ECM by using a dual pole tool with a metallic bush outside the insulated coating of a cathode tool. The bush is connected with anode and so the electric field at the side gap area is substantially weakened. The modeling and simulation indicate that the p ositive bush brings down the current density at the side gap area of the machine d hole and hence reduces the stray material removal there. It has been experimen tally observed that the machining accuracy and the process stability are signifi cantly improved. | ZHU Di, XU Hui-yu (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronaut ics & Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China) | 2002 | 厦门大学学报(自然科学版)2002,41,S1: | 7
Global view of Hopf bifurcations of a van der Pol oscillator with delayed state feedback显示文摘This paper presents both analytical and numerical studies on the global view of Hopf bifurcations of a van der Pol oscillator with delayed state feedback.Based on a detailed analysis of the stability switches of the trivial equilibrium of the system, the stability charts are given in a parameter space consisting of the time delay and the feedback gains. The center manifold reduc-tion and the normal form method are used to study Hopf bifurcations with respect to the time delay. To gain an insight into the persistence of a Hopf bifurcation as the time delay varies farther away from its critical value, the method of multiple scales is used to obtain the global view of Hopf bifurcations with respect to the time delay. Both the analytical results of Hopf bifurca-tions and global view of those bifurcations are validated via a collocation scheme implemented on DDE-Biftool.The most important discovery in this paper is the well-structured global view of Hopf bifurcations for the system of concern, showing the generality of the persistence of Hopf bifurcations. | ZHANG Li1,WANG HuaiLei1 & HU HaiYan1,2 1 MOE Key Lab of Mechanics and Control of Aerospace Structures,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China 2 School of Aerospace Engineering,Beijing Institute of Technology,Beijing 100081,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,3: | 6
Morphology and reaction force of toes of geckos freely moving on ceilings and walls显示文摘The 3-dimensional interactions between toes of a gecko and substrates (ceilings or walls) were measured when it moves on ceilings or walls by using a 3-dimensional force measuring array, and the correspondent morphology of the gecko toes was recorded by a high speed camera. The study aims to understand the relationship between adhesive and shear forces generated by the toes of the gecko and the locomotion behavior when it walks on walls and ceilings. Results showed that shear force is along the toe-only 12.6° and 3.1° away from the toe for wall-climbing and ceiling-crawling,respectively while the adhesion is big enough to balance the body weight and moment. The shear forces generated by the first and the fifth toes are in opposite directions;this redundant force increases the reliability of adhesion and stability of locomotion. The support angles of toes are equal approximately for ceiling-crawling and wall-climbing.The study greatly inspires the design of a gecko-like robot. | WANG ZhouYi1,2,GU WenHua1,2,WU Qiang1,2,JI AiHong1 & DAI ZhenDong1 1 Institute of Bio-inspired Structure and Surface Engineering,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China 2 College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering,Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Nanjing 210016,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,6: | 6
An exploration for the macroscopic physical meaning of entropy显示文摘The macroscopic physical meaning of entropy is analyzed based on the exergy (availability) of a combined system (a closed system and its environment), which is the maximum amount of useful work obtainable from the system and the environment as the system is brought into equilibrium with the environment. The process the system experiences can be divided in two sequent sub-processes, the process at constant volume, which represents the heat interaction of the system with the environment, and the adiabatic process, which represents the work interaction of the system with the environment. It is shown that the macroscopic physical meaning of entropy is a measure of the unavailable energy of a closed system for doing useful work through heat interaction. This statement is more precise than those reported in prior literature. The unavailability function of a closed system can be defined as T0S and p0V in volume constant process and adiabatic process, respectively. Their changes, that is, AiTgS) and A (p0V) represent the unusable parts of the internal energy of a closed system for doing useful work in corresponding processes. Finally, the relation between Clausius entropy and Boltzmann entropy is discussed based on the comparison of their expressions for absolute entropy. | WU Jing1 & GUO ZengYuan2 1 College of Energy and Power Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China 2 Key Laboratory for Thermal Science and Power Engineering of Ministry of Education, School of Aerospace, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,7: | 6

They are parameter method, vibration method, and oil analysis method. In this paper, the applicable range and operational difficulties of these methods are discussed on the basis of analysis and induction upon normal failure. It is proposed that a compressor’s normal failure can be divided into thermodynamical property failure and mechanical function failure. As to the former, the parameter method that takes a cylinder pressure signal as the main diagnostic signal may be applied; and as to the latter, the vibration signal frequency spectrum can be used to diagnose.
