| 1 | DEM parameter calibration of cohesive bulk materials using a simple angle of repose test显示文摘The numerical effort of discrete element method (DEM) simulations results in a general idealisation of DEM models that makes the calibration crucial to obtaining realistic simulation results. The angle of repose test has become a standard test for the calibration of DEM parameters of cohesionless bulk materials and is extensively discussed in the literature. One of the most used test methods is the pull-up test of a hollow cylinder filled with bulk material. This paper presents how this basic pull-up test can also be used for the calibration of DEM parameters of cohesive materials by changing the analysis criteria. In contrast to analysing the static angle of repose, the focus lies on the macroscopic flow behaviour during the lifting of the cylinder. Reproducible phases of flow are identified in experiments: the build-up of a stable bulk material column, the convex bending of the column, and the beginning of collapse of the column. Furthermore, the phases are independent of the size and lifting velocity. The convex bending of the bulk-material column combined with the moment of first collapse are introduced as new measurable calibration criteria. These experimental results of wet sand are used for the calibration of related DEM parameters using a simplified JKR cohesion model. The DEM calibration including an analysis algorithm that fits the experimental flow behaviour and the final selection of the relevant parameters (i.e., sliding friction coefficient, rolling friction coefficient, and cohesion energy density) is presented in detail. | Thomas Roessler Andre Katterfeld | 2019 | Particuology2019，17，4： | 12 |
| 2 | Associations of sense of coherence with psychological distress and quality of life in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between sense of coherence,psychological distress and health related quality of life in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS:This cross-sectional study enrolled a consecutive sample of 147 IBD(aged 45.1 ± 14.1 years; 57.1% female) patients recruited from a tertiary gastroenterology service.Sixty-four participants met diagnostic criteria for Crohn's disease,while eightythree patients had ulcerative colitis.Socio-demographic data(education,age,race,gender,gross monthly income and marital status),disease-related variables(illness activity,relapse rate in past 2 years,history of surgery and time since diagnosis),sense of coherence(Antonovsky's SOC scale),psychological distress symptoms(Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) and health-related quality of life(HRQo L; WHOQOLBref) were assessed.Hierarchical multiple regression analyses were performed to identify factors that are independently associated with psychological distress and HRQo L in patients with IBD and to provide indications for possible moderating or mediating effects.In addition,formal moderation and mediation analyses(Sobel tests) were performed to confirm potential moderators/mediators of the relationship between SOC,psychological distress symptoms and HRQoL.RESULTS:Lower SOC scores(std beta=-0.504; P < 0.001),female gender(std beta = 0.176; P = 0.021) and White race(std beta = 0.164; P = 0.033) were independently associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms,while lower levels of SOC(std beta =-0.438; P < 0.001) and higher relapse rate(std beta = 0.161; P = 0.033) were independently associated with more severe anxiety symptoms.A significant interaction between time since diagnosis and SOC was found with regard to the severity of depressive or anxiety symptoms,as the interaction term(time since diagnosis X SOC) had beta coefficients of-0.191(P = 0.009) and-0.172(P = 0.026),respectively.Lower levels of anxiety symptoms(std beta =-0.369; P < 0.001),higher levels of SOC(std beta = 0.231; P = 0.016) and non-White race(std beta =-0.229; P = 0.006),i.e.,mixed-race,which represented the reference category,were independently associated with higher levels of overall HRQoL.Anxiety symptoms were the most potent independent correlate of most aspects of HRQoL.In addition,anxiety mediated the association between SOC and satisfaction with health,as well as its relationship with physical,mental,and social relations HRQo L.Depressive symptoms also mediated the association between SOC and mental HRQoL.CONCLUSION:Our data indicated that SOC is an important construct,as it influences psychological distress and has significant albeit indirect effects on several HRQoL domains in IBD. | Thiago H Freitas Elias Andreoulakis Gilberto S Alves Hesley LL Miranda Lúcia LBC Braga Thomas Hyphantis André F Carvalho | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，21： | 10 |
| 3 | Cerium,manganese and cerium/manganese ceramic monolithic catalysts.Study of VOCs and PM removal显示文摘Ceramic supported cerium, manganese and cerium-manganese catalysts were prepared by direct impregnation of aqueous precursor, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method(BET), temperature programmed reduction(H_2-TPR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) acidity measurements and electrical conductivity. The catalytic activity was evaluated for volatile organic compounds(VOC)(ethanol, methyl ethyl ketone and toluene) oxidation. Additionally, catalysts were tested in particulate matter(PM) combustion. The characterization results indicated that Ce was in the form of Ce^(4+) and Ce^(3+), and Mn existed in the form of Mn^(4+) and Mn^(3+) on the surface of the Mn/AC sample and in the form of Mn^(4+) in the Ce/Mn/AC monolith. VOC oxidation results revealed that the Ce/Mn/AC sample showed an excellent performance compared with ceramic supported CeO_2(Ce/AC) and MnO_x(Mn/AC) samples. The PM combustion was also higher on Ce/Mn/AC monoliths. | 8 | Prospective observational multicenter study to define a diagnostic algorithm for biliary candidiasis显示文摘AIM:To develop an algorithm to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with biliary candidiasis.METHODS:We performed a prospective study of 127patients who underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography,for various biliary disorders,at 3 tertiary referral centers in Germany from July 2011through July 2012(ClinicalTrials.gov:NCT01109550).Bile,buccal,and stool samples were collected.When indicated,endoscopic transpapillary bile duct biopsies were performed to clarify the etiology of bile duct strictures and to prove invasive fungal infections.RESULTS:Candida species were detected in 38 of the 127 bile samples(29.9%).By multivariate analysis patients’age and previous endoscopic sphincterotomy were independent risk factors for biliary candidiasis(P<0.05).Patients with immunosuppression(P=0.058)and recent long-term antibiotic therapy(>7 d)(P=0.089)tend to be at risk for biliary candidiasis.One patient was negative in mycological culture of bile fluid but invasive biliary candidiasis was diagnosed histologically.Of Candida subspecies detected,36.7%were azole-resistant,such as C glabrata.Eight patients received anti-mycotic therapy,based on our algorithm.Of these,3 had cancer with biliary tract involvement,2had secondary sclerosing cholangitis,1 had retroperitoneal fibrosis,and 5 had septicemia.In all patients contamination was ruled out by smears of the endoscope channel.CONCLUSION:Gastroenterologists should be aware of frequent candida colonization in patients with cholangitis and biliary disorders.Our suggested algorithm facilitates the further clinical management. | Philipp Lenz Franziska Eckelskemper Thomas Erichsen Tim Lankisch Alexander Dechêne Gabriele Lubritz Frank Lenze Torsten Beyna Hansjorg Ullerich Andre Schmedt Dirk Domagk | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，34： | 2 |
