1Antimicrobial potential of Ricinus communis leaf extracts in different solvents against pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains显示文摘Objective:To investigate the in vitro antimicrobial activities of the leaf extract in different solvents viz.,methanol,ethanol and water extracts of the selected plant Ricinus communis.Methods:Ager well diffusion method and agar tube dilution method were carried out to perform the antibacterial and antifungal activity of methanol,ethanol and aqueous extracts.Results:Metbanol leaf extracts were found to be more active against Gram positive bacteria(Bacillus subtilis:ATCC 6059 and Staphylococcus aureus:ATCC 6538)as well as Gram negative bacteria(Pseudomonas aeruginosa:ATCC 7221 and Klebsiella pneumoniae)than ethanol and aqueous leaf extracts.Antifungal activity of methanol and aqueous leaf extracts were also carded out against selected fungal strains as Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus flavus.Methanolic as well as aqueous leaf extracts of Ricinus communis were effective in inhibiting the fungal growth.Conclusions:The efficient antibacterial and antifungai activity of Ricinus communis from the present investigation revealed that the methanol leaf extracts of the selected plant have significant potential to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains than ethanol and aqueous leaf extracts.Rabia Naz Asghari Bano 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,12:4
2Enucleation and evisceration: indications, complications and clinicopathological correlations显示文摘·AIM: To assess main indications, postoperative complications and clinicopathological correlation of ocular enucleation-evisceration.·METHODS: A total of 107 subjects who underwent enucleation and/or evisceration and received hydroxyapatite implants(Scleral wrap or mesh) were assessed. For each patient clinicopathological data was collected which included demographic information,clinical history, primary clinical diagnosis, main cause of ophthalmic surgery(traumatic, non-traumatic), type of surgical procedure(enucleation, evisceration) and pathological report. Patients' postoperative clinical visits were checked for procedure-related complications during first year after surgery.·RESULTS: One hundred and seven patients(male:65.4%; mean age: 26y) underwent enucleation(n=100) or evisceration(n =7) due to traumatic(n =41) and non-traumatic(n =66) causes. Disfiguring painful blind eye was the most common indication of surgery(66.4%),followed by leukocoria(19.6%) and endophthalmitis(4.7%). The main types of injury included firecracker,traffic and work accidents, and sharp object perforating injury. In 53(80.3%) subjects in non-traumatic group the initial clinical diagnosis matched the histopathologicalresults. Malignant tumors(retinoblastoma: 47.5%,malignant melanoma: 27.3%) were the most common pathological diagnoses followed by phthisis bulbi(25.8%).The most common procedure-related complications were major eye discharge(39.6%), and implant exposure and discharge(20.8%).·CONCLUSION: Trauma and malignant tumors are the leading causes of enucleation-evisceration. 3Polyurethane-SAPO-34 mixed matrix membrane for CO_2/CH_4 and CO_2/N_2 separation显示文摘SAPO-34 nanocrystals(inorganic filler) were incorporated in polyurethane membranes and the permeation properties of CO_2, CH_4,and N_2 gases were explored. In this regard, the synthesized PU-SAPO-34 mixed matrix membranes(MMMs) were characterized via SEM, AFM, TGA, XRD and FTIR analyses. Gas permeation properties of PU-SAPO-34 MMMs with SAPO-34 contents of 5 wt%, 10 wt% and 20 wt% were investigated. The permeation results revealed that the presence of 20 wt% SAPO-34 resulted in 4.45%, 18.24% and 40.2% reductions in permeability of CO_2,CH_4,and N_2, respectively, as compared to the permeability of neat polyurethane membrane. Also,the findings showed that at the pressure of 1.2 MPa, the incorporation of 20 wt% SAPO-34 into the polyurethane membranes enhanced the selectivity of CO_2/CH_4 and CO_2/N_2, 14.43 and 37.46%, respectively. In this research, PU containing 20 wt% SAPO-34 showed the best separation performance. 5Analytical study of care quality and moral distress in clinical situations and patient care显示文摘Objective: Nursing profession conventionally meets a high standard of ethical behavior and action. One of the ethical challenges in nursing profession is moral distress. Nurses frequently expose to this phenomenon which leads to different consequences such as being bored by delivering patient care that decline care quality and make it challenging to achieve health purposes. This study was conducted to investigate the association between the aspects of moral distress and care quality.Methods: In this descriptive–analytical study, 545 nurses of intensive and cardiac care units and dialysis and psychiatric wards were recruited by census sampling. Three questionnaires, Sociodemographics, Moral Distress Scale, and Quality Patient Care Scale, were distributed among the participants and collected within 9 months. Data analysis was conducted by descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and the least significant difference in SPSS 13.Results: Investigating moral distress domains(ignoring patient, decision-making power, and professional competence) and care quality domains(psychosocial, physical, and communicational) demonstrated that in being exposed to moral distress, ignoring patient had no effect on psychosocial domain(P=0.056), but decision-making and professional competence of moral distress had positive effect on psychosocial, physical(bodily), and communication domains of care quality.Conclusions: Because moral distress domains are effective on patient care quality, it is recommended to enhance the knowledge of nurses, especially beginners, about moral distress, increase their strength alongside standardizing nursing services in decisionmaking domains, improve the professional competence, and pay attention to patients.Masoumeh Hasanlo Arezo Azarm Parvaneh Asadi Kourosh Amini Hossein Ebrahimi Mohammad Asghari Jafarabadi 2019Frontiers of Nursing2019,6,4:3
6Synthesis and antibacterial activity of ethyl 2-amino-6-methyl-5-oxo-4-aryl-5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrano[3,2-c]quinoline-3-carboxylate显示文摘The three-component reaction of 4-hydroxy-1-methyl-2(1H)-quinolinone, aromatic aldehydes and ethyl cyanoacetate was carried out in the presence of a catalytic amount of 4-dimethyl aminopyridine(DMAP) in aqueous ethanol. The reactions result in the formation of pyranoquinoline derivatives in excellent yields. Antibacterial activity has been evaluated against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria for some of the synthesized compounds. 8Geology and Mineral Chemistry of Gold Mineralization in Mirge-Naqshineh Occurrence(Saqez,NW Iran):Implications for Transportation and Precipitation of Gold显示文摘The Mirge-Naqshineh gold district is situated at northwest of Iran with a NW-trending brittleductile shear zone. It is hosted by Precambrian meta-sedimentary and meta-volcanic units traversed by mineralized quartz veins. In terms of cross-cutting relationships and sulfide content three types of quartz veins are identified in the region. Among those, parallel to bedding quartz vein(type Ⅰ) is the main host for gold mineralization. Gold is found in three different forms: 1) submicrometer-size inclusions of gold in arsenian pyrite, 2) as electrum and 3) in the crystal lattice of sulfides(pyrite, galena and chalcopyrite). Six types of pyrite(Py1-Py6) were identified in this ore reserve. Py3 coexists with arsenopyrite and contains the greatest As-Au concentrations. There is a negative correlation between the As and S contents in Py2 and Py3, implying the substitution of sulfur by arsenic. Pyrites and mineralized quartz veins were formed via metamorphic-hydrothermal fluid and reflect the gold-transportation as Au(HS)_2^- under reducing and acidic conditions. The gold precipitation mainly controlled by crystallization of arsenian pyrite during fluid/rock interactions and variation of fO_2. Primary, bulky secondary, tertiary, and phenolic hydroxyl functional groups were transformed to the corresponding trimethylsilyl ethers in excellent yields.
