| 3 | Electronic modulation and interface engineering of electrospun nanomaterials‐based electrocatalysts toward water splitting显示文摘Nowdays,electrocatalytic water splitting has been regarded as one of the most efficient means to approach the urgent energy crisis and environmental issues.However,to speed up the electrocatalytic conversion efficiency of their half reactions including hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),electrocatalysts are usually essential to reduce their kinetic energy barriers.Electrospun nanomaterials possess a unique one‐dimensional structure for outstanding electron and mass transportation,large specific surface area,and the possibilities of flexibility with the porous feature,which are good candidates as efficient electrocatalysts for water splitting.In this review,we focus on the recent research progress on the electrospun nanomaterials‐based electrocatalysts for HER,OER,and overall water splitting reaction.Specifically,the insights of the influence of the electronic modulation and interface engineering of these electrocatalysts on their electrocatalytic activities will be deeply discussed and highlighted.Furthermore,the challenges and development opportunities of the electrospun nanomaterials‐based electrocatalysts for water splitting are featured.Based on the achievements of the significantly enhanced performance from the electronic modulation and interface engineering of these electrocatalysts,full utilization of these materials for practical energy conversion is anticipated. | Wei Song Meixuan Li Ce Wang Xiaofeng Lu | 2021 | Carbon Energy2021,3,1: | 4 |
| 4 | Effect of lactic acid bacteria inoculants on alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) silage quality:assessment of degradation(in situ) and gas production(in vitro)显示文摘Alfalfa(Medicago sativa) is difficult to ensile successfully because of the low content of moisture and water-soluble carbohydrates(WSC) in fresh alfalfa and the high buffering capacity in fresh alfalfa. Here, we conducted a study to evaluate the effects of three lactic acid bacteria(LAB) inoculants(Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Pediococcus pentosaceus) on silage quality, in situ ruminal degradability, and in vitro fermentation of alfalfa silage. The first cut of alfalfa was wilted, chopped, and randomly divided into four groups: the control(CON) and control mixed with three separate LAB inoculants(10~6 cfug^(–1)). Simmental steers with a body weight of(452±18) kg and with installed rumen fistulas were prepared for in situ degradation and for in vitro gas production. LAB inoculants had a lower(P<0.05) content of butyric acid than the CON group. Among them, the L. casei inoculated silage had a higher(P<0.05) content of water-soluble carbohydrate(WSC) and a lower(P<0.05) NH_3-H content. The effective degradation(ED) of crude protein in LAB inoculation decreased(P<0.05), while the ED of acid detergent fiber increased(P<0.05) in situ fermentation. The alfalfa silage with LAB inoculants produced more carbon dioxide(P<0.05). The NH_3-H content of mixed incubation fluid in L. casei inoculated silage was lower(P<0.05) compared with other groups. Therefore, this study showed that LAB inoculants could improve both ensiling quality and degradation. | 6 | Machine learning helps improve diagnostic ability of subclinical keratoconus using Scheimpflug and OCT imaging modalities显示文摘Purpose:To develop an automated classification system using a machine learning classifier to distinguish clinically unaffected eyes in patients with keratoconus from a normal control population based on a combination of Scheimpflug camera images and ultra-high-resolution optical coherence tomography(UHR-OCT)imaging data.Methods:A total of 121 eyes from 121 participants were classified by 2 cornea experts into 3 groups:normal(50 eyes),with keratoconus(38 eyes)or with subclinical keratoconus(33 eyes).All eyes were imaged with a Scheimpflug camera and UHR-OCT.Corneal morphological features were extracted from the imaging data.A neural network was used to train a model based on these features to distinguish the eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.Fisher’s score was used to rank the differentiable power of each feature.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were calculated to obtain the area under the ROC curves(AUCs).Results:The developed classification model used to combine all features from the Scheimpflug camera and UHR-OCT dramatically improved the differentiable power to discriminate between normal eyes and eyes with subclinical keratoconus(AUC=0.93).The variation in the thickness profile within each individual in the corneal epithelium extracted from UHR-OCT imaging ranked the highest in differentiating eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.Conclusion:The automated classification system using machine learning based on the combination of Scheimpflug camera data and UHR-OCT imaging data showed excellent performance in discriminating eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.The epithelial features extracted from the OCT images were the most valuable in the discrimination process.This classification system has the potential to improve the differentiable power of subclinical keratoconus and the efficiency of keratoconus screening. | Ce Shi Mengyi Wang Tiantian Zhu Ying Zhang Yufeng Ye Jun Jiang Sisi Chen Fan Lu Meixiao Shen | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 3 |
| 7 | Mechanical properties of a novel, lightweight structure inspired by beetle's elytra显示文摘A new kind of bio-inspired, lightweight structure was designed and built from carbon fibre prepreg based on the cross-sectional microstructure of a beetle's elytra. The compression strength and failure process of the resulting structure was analysed using the finite element method; while at the same time, a quasi-static compression experiment was performed using an electronic universal testing machine to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of this finite element method.
