2Pitting Corrosion Behaviour of Monel-400 Alloy in Chloride Solutions显示文摘Pitting corrosion behaviour of Monel-400 alloy in 3.5 wt pct NaCl sodium chloride solution has been investigated using the cyclic potentiodynamic anodic polarization technique. The effect of chloride ion concentration, pH values and difFerent temperatures on the pitting parameters were determined. The morphology of the pits produced after anodic polarization treatments was inspected by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results indicated that, the increase in chloride ion concentration shifts Epit and Eprot of the alloy toward negative values and the pitting potential is much more dependent on pH value in the basic region. The breakdown of passivity with increasing temperature may be due to kinetic changes of passivating films and dissolution rate of the alloy in its passiveV.K.Gouda I.Z.Selim A.A.Khedr and A.M.Fathi(Physical Chemistry Dept., National Research Centre, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt) 1999Journal of Materials Science & Technology1999,15,3:8
3Performance of the Aluminide Coating of SomeLow Alloy Steels显示文摘Two low alloy steels 0.5Cr-0.5Mo-0.25V and H85 were pack-aluminized at 900°for 4 h by using Fe-Al powder mixture containing 48% Fe, 20.6% Al- 29.4% Al2O3 and 2% NH4Cl by weight. The microhardness and oxidation resistance at 900℃ of the aluminide coatings were studied. It was found that pack-aluminizing improves the microhardness of the 0.5Cro.5Mo-0.25V steel while it reduces the microhardness of the H85 steel. Pack aluminizing highly improves the oxidation resistance after 20h exposure at 900℃ in air for the investigated steels.H.M.Soliman and M.E.Abd E1-Azim(Metallurgy Dept., Atomic Energy Authority, Cairo, Egypt ) 1997Journal of Materials Science & Technology1997,13,6:6

5NONPARAMETRIC DETECTION OF RADAR TARGET IN NONHOMOGENEOUS ENVIRONMENTS显示文摘This poaper is devoted to the performance evaluation of the Generalized Sigu(GS). Trimmed Generalized Sign(TGS), Modified Savage(MS). Mann-Whitney(MW) and a new proposed detector in multiple target situations. The analysis is carried out for both fluctuating and nonfluctuating received signals. The simulation results show that the new proposed detector has the best detection performance in homogeneous as well as nonhomogeneous background conditions, while TGS procedure is better than the GS detector in distinguishing the primary target from the secondary interfering ones.Mohamed B. 6Influence of Yb^(3+) concentration on the upconversion luminescence of oxyfluoride material doped with Er^(3+)显示文摘In this paper,a new upconversion luminescent material co-doped with Erbium and Ytterbium is reported. The upconversion luminescence transition routes and related properties are studied. The results show that the absorption and emission intensities under excitation of 980 nm laser increase with the increase of the Yb3+ concentration. The red emission is stronger than the green emission. The energy transfer process plays an important role in the upconversion mechanism.ZHAO SuLing1,XU Zheng1,WANG LiHui2 & S. 7THE WAVE EQUATION APPROACH TO THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL INVERSE PROBLEM FOR A GENERAL BOUNDED DOMAIN WITH PIECEWISE SMOOTH MIXED BOUNDARY CONDITIONS显示文摘The spectral distribution exp( ), where {} are the eigenvalues of the negative Laplacian -△=- in the (x^1,x^2)-plane, is studied for a variety of domains, where -∞< t <∞ and i=(1/2)(-1) . The dependence of (t)on the connectivity of a domain and the boundary conditions are analyzed. Particular attention is given to a general bounded domain Ω in R^2 with a smooth boundary Ω, where a finite number of piecewise smooth Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin boundary conditions on the piecewise smooth parts Γj(j = 1,……,n) of Ω are considered such that Some geometrical properties of Ω(e.g., the area of Ω, the total lengths of the boundary, the curvature of its boundary, etc.) are determined, from the asymptotic expansions of (t) for |t| → 0.E.M.E.Zayed, I.H.Abdel-Halim Mathematics Department, Faculty of Science, Zagazig University, Zagazig, Egypt E-mail: emezayed@hotmail.com & ismhalim@hotmail.com 2001Acta Mathematica Scientia2001,21,2:2
8Some Physical Properties of CuTlSe Alloy显示文摘The structure and optical properties of Cu0.1Tl2Se3 alloy was studied. X-ray analysis showed that the polycrystalline powder consists of a mixture of two phases Cu3jTlSe2 (monoclinic) and TISe (tetragonal). Chalcopyrite phase CuTISe2 can be obtained by annealing the powder at 250’C for 1 h. Thin film with a monoclinic phase of Cu3TlSe2 was obtained for the thick film (0.7 um). The optical parameters a, n, k, e’ and e' and the energy gap were calculated. The thermoelectric power measurements showed that S has a positive polarity over the whole range of temperature.A.Abdel All Physics Department, Faculty of Science , Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt K.A.Sharaf Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University for Girls, Cairo, Egypt A.Elshafie Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Menoufia University, She 2001Journal of Materials Science & Technology2001,17,2:2
9Preparation and Characterization of Some Ferrites from CuO-ZnO-Fe_2O_3 Mixtures显示文摘The ferrites of Cuo-ZnO-Fe2o3 solid solution series near the molar ratio of ZnxCu1-x were prepared by direct heating of their coprecipitated hydroxides using NH4OH as precipitating agent where x=0.0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0. Additional amounts of Cu and Zn sulphates were added to compensate the loss during the coprecipitation of the hydroxides. The ferritized samples were characterized by chemical analysis, XRD. DTA, TGA and SEM. XRD of both Zn0.2Cu0.8Fe2O4 and Zn0.5Cu0.5 Fe2O4 that indicates the formation of a heterogeneous ferrite material of ZnFe2O4 and CuFe2O4 mixed with variable amounts of α-Fe2O3. Zn and Cu ferrites were observed only in Zn0.8Cu0.2Fe2O4.From TGA-time relation, the activation energy of the different transformation phases were calculated. It is found that, the activation energy of ZnFe2O4 is slightly equal to 3/2 of that for CuFe2O4. Dielectric measurements show that the electrical behaviour depends on the ordering and disordering of the phases.A.A.Hanna H.I Saleh and M.Sh.Khalil(Inorg. Chem. 13Corrosion Measurements of Reinforcing Steel by Different Electrochemical Techniques显示文摘Electrochemical techniques of the corrosion measurements of reinforcing steeI in concrete have been evaluated. These techniques include half-cell potential measurements, impressed voltage method, impressed current method and potentiostatic polarization technique. The results of corrosion behaviour of the steel in both 5%NaCl and 5%MgSO4 show that each electrochemical technique provides some information about the condition of the steel bar or the corrosivity of the environment being evaluated, yet none provides a complete data regarding the corrosion resistance of reinforcing steel in aggressiveS.M.Morsy (Metallurgy Dept. 14Effect of Stearic Acid on Ettringite Formation显示文摘The hydration reaction of a mixture of tricalcium aluminate (C3A) and gypsum with the molar ratio of 1:3 was carried out at room temperature and a water/solid ratio of 4.0. The hydration was carried out in presence of 0, 1 and 3% stearic acid and the mixes were designated as A, B and C, respectively. Ettringite was the only hydration product formed in the presence and absence of stearic acid. Phase composition, microstructure, infra-red analysis as well as degree of hydration were carried out for the different hydration mixtures. The rate of ettringite formation in the presence of 3% stearic acid was accelerated during the first half hour of hydration, and then retardation was occurred. In the presence of 1% stearic acid the ettringite formation was accelerated first till 3 days, then retardation was observed at later hydration ages.Essam A.KisharDepartment of Chemistry, Faculty of Girls, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,3:1
15Preparation and Properties of Some Chemical and Electrochemical γ-MnO_2显示文摘Chemically prepared electrolytic 2-Mn02 and an electrodeposited MnO2 doped with Ce(Ⅲ) were subjected to physicochemical studies. X-ray diffractometry, density measurements, chem-ical analysis and thermal analysis were used to determine the structure and chemical disorder present. The samples prepared chemically (CMD) or electrochemically (EMD) showed a variable amount of de Wolff disorder (Pr) and microtwinning (Tw). Manganese dioxide prepared in the presence of Ce(Ⅲ) showed appreciable decrease in de Wolff defect and a large amount of microtwinning. Thermal analysis showed a loss of weight due to the physically adsorbed and the structural (OH) water, from which the activation energy was calculated. Chemical composition and formulae calculated on the bases of cation vacancy model, cleared that Ce(lIl)-doped sample has a remarkable increase in the vacancies population associated with higher structural water content. This leads to lower activation energy of water release, and consequently it is supposed to acquire higher electrochemical activity.H.M.Abbas, Kh. S.Abou-El-Sherbini, M.H.Askar and A. M. 16Phosphogypsum:Part Ⅰ:Mineralogical,Thermogravimetric,Chemical and Infrared Characterization显示文摘Phosphogypsum (PG) derived from the dissolution of phosphate ore in H2SO4 has been characterized by using chemical and thermogravimetric analyses, X-ray difFraction and infrared spectrum to give an idea about the future utifization of this waste material. The PG under the investigation was free from the radioactive elements and Cd and contained about 141 × 10-6 rare earth elements in total, which favours the utilization of this material. PG was formed mainIy of gypsum, little anhydrite and quartz and rare kaolinite. It exhibited two large endothermic peaks corresponding to the dehydration of the sample and a small one which may be attributed to the Iiberation of the residual water that may be found in the soluble anhydrite. Also, an exothermic peak was observed which may be related to the transformation of soluble (γ-anhydrite) to insoluble β-anhydrite. PG exhibited the same absorption bands as that observed for chemical CaSO4.2H2O and natural gypsum samples besides the appearance of a weak band at 840 cm-1 which characterizes the vibration of H2PO4-A.A.Hanna A.I.M.Akarish and S.M.Ahmed(National Research Centre, Dokki, P-O-12311, Cairo, Egypt) To whom correspondence should be addressed 1999Journal of Materials Science & Technology1999,15,5:1

20Pack Aluminizing of Copper显示文摘Aluminizing of Cu by a pack cementation process was performed to improve its surface properties. The effect of variation of pack aluminizing temperature from 800 to 900℃ and aluminizing time from 1 to 6 h on the microstructure and the thickness of the aluminide coating of Cu was investigated. Pack aluminizing of Cu significantly improved the microhardness and the oxidation resistance. The microhardness was increased about seven times and the oxidation resistance, after 96 h exposure in air at 900℃, was extremely increased ten times by aluminizing Cu at 900℃ for 3 h.M.E.Abd El-Azim H.M.Soliman (Metallurgy Dept., Atomic Energy Authority Cairo, Egypt) 1997Journal of Materials Science & Technology1997,13,2:1
