| 1 | The influence of microwave irradiation on rocks for microwaveassisted underground excavation显示文摘Demand is growing for explosive-free rock breakage systems for civil and mining engineering, and spaceindustry applications. This paper highlights the work being undertaken in the Geomechanics Laboratoryof McGill University to make a real application of microwave-assisted mechanical rock breakage to fullfacetunneling machines and drilling. Comprehensive laboratory tests investigated the effect of microwaveradiation on temperature profiles and strength reduction in hard rocks (norite, granite, and basalt)for a range of exposure times and microwave power levels. The heating rate on the surface of the rockspecimens linearly decreased with distance between the sample and the microwave antenna, regardlessof microwave power level and exposure time. Tensile and uniaxial compressive strengths were reducedwith increasing exposure time and power level. Scanning electron micrographs (SEMs) highlightedfracture development in treated basalt. It was concluded that the microwave power level has a strongpositive influence on the amount of heat damage induced to the rock surface. | 3 | Gastric cancer risk in relation to tobacco use and alcohol drinking in Kerala, India-Karunagappally cohort study显示文摘AIM: To assess the risk of gastric cancer(GC) in relation to tobacco use and alcohol drinking in the Karunagappally cohort in Kerala, South India.METHODS: This study examined the association of tobacco use and alcohol drinking with GC incidence among 65553 men aged 30-84 in the Karunagappally cohort. During the period from 1990-2009, 116 GC cases in the cohort were identified as incident cancers. These cases were identified from the populationbased cancer registry. Information regarding risk factors such as socioeconomic factors and tobacco and alcohol habits of cohort members were collected from the database of the baseline survey conducted during 1990-1997. The relative risks(RRs) and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals(95%CIs) fortobacco use were obtained from Poisson regression analysis of grouped survival data, considering age, follow-up period, occupation and education.RESULTS: Bidi smoking was associated with GC risk(P = 0.042). The RR comparing current versus never smokers was 1.6(95%CI: 1.0-2.5). GC risk was associated with the number of bidis smoked daily(P = 0.012) and with the duration of bidi smoking(P = 0.036). Those who started bidi smoking at younger ages were at an elevated GC risk; the RRs for those starting bidi smoking under the age of 18 and ages 18-22 were 2.0(95%CI: 1.0-3.9) and 1.8(95%CI: 1.1-2.9), respectively, when their risks were compared with lifetime non-smokers of bidis. Bidi smoking increased the risk of GC among never cigarette smokers more evidently(RR = 2.2; 95%CI: 1.3-4.0). GC risk increased with the cumulative amount of bidi smoking, which was calculated as the number of bidis smoked per day x years of smoking(bidi-year; P = 0.017). Cigarette smoking, tobacco chewing or alcohol drinking was not significantly associated with GC risk. | 5 | 膏体尾矿屈服应力的塌落度试验研究显示文摘屈服应力是高浓度非牛顿膏体的关键流变参数,是膏体充填输送系统设计的基础。工程应用中采用塌落度这一经验参数评判其流动性,却无法获取准确的屈服应力参数值。通过构建圆柱和圆锥2种理论模型并利用模型与流变仪的测试结果对比,明确塌落度与屈服应力的反比例关系;通过模型计算屈服应力,在较低屈服应力,圆柱比圆锥模型计算结果准确。尾砂膏体塌落度试验表明增大塌落筒的尺寸可以提高模型计算结果的准确性。添加胶结剂的塌落度试验,因胶结剂的物理化学作用,颗粒间产生絮网结构形成悬浊液,料浆更加均质,却增加了料浆的内摩擦力,屈服应力升高。不同粗砂比的塌落度试验显示:因添加的粗颗粒降低了物料整体的比表面积,物料吸附水的能力下降,使大量水分子由吸附态转变为游离态,增强料浆的可流动性使料浆屈服应力显著降低。 | 李亮 张柬 Hassani Ferri 张希巍 | 2017 | 金属矿山2017,46,1: | 12 |
| 6 | Stresses induced by post-tensioned anchor in jointed rock mass显示文摘A new analytical study on stresses around a post-tensioned anchor in rocks with two perpendicular joint sets is presented. The assumptions of orthotropic elastic rock with plane strain conditions are made in derivation of the formulations. A tri-linear bond-slip constitutive law is used for modeling the tendon-grout interface behavior and debonding of this interface. The bearing plate width is also considered in the analysis. The obtained solutions are in the integral forms and numerical techniques that have been used for evaluation. In the illustrative example given, the major principal stress is compressive in the anchor free zone and compressive stress concentrations of 815 k Pa and 727 k Pa(for the anchor load of 300 k N) are observed under the bearing plate and the bond length proximal end, respectively. However, large values of tensile stresses with the maximum of-434 k Pa are formed at the bond length distal end. | 9 | Introduction and evaluation of a novel hybrid brattice for improved dust control in underground mining faces: A computational study显示文摘A proper control and management of dust dispersion is essential to ensure safe and productive underground working environment. Brattice installation to direct the flow from main shaft to the mining face was found to be the most effective method to disperse dust particle away from the mining face. However,it limits the movement and disturbs the flexibility of the mining fleets and operators at the tunnel. This study proposes a hybrid brattice system- a combination of a physical brattice together with suitable and flexible directed and located air curtains- to mitigate dust dispersion from the mining face and reduce dust concentration to a safe level for the working operators. A validated three-dimensional computational fluid dynamic model utilizing Eulerian–Lagrangian approach is employed to track the dispersion of dust particle. Several possible hybrid brattice scenarios are evaluated with the objective to improve dust management in underground mine. | 11 | Microstructural evolution and intermetallic formation in Al-8wt% Si-0.8wt% Fe alloy due to grain refiner and modifier additions显示文摘An alloy of Al-8wt% Si-0.8wt% Fe was cast in a metallic die, and its microstructural changes due to Ti-B refiner and Sr modifier additions were studied. Apart from usual refinement and modification of the microstructure, some mutual influences of the additives took place, and no mutual poisoning effects by these additives, in combined form, were observed. It was noticed that the dimensions of the iron-rich intermetallics were influenced by the additives causing them to become larger. The needle-shaped intermetallics that were obtained from refiner addition became thicker and longer when adding the modifier. It was also found that α-Al and eutectic silicon phases preferentially nucleate on different types of intermetallic compounds. The more iron content of the intermetallic compounds and the more changes in their dimensions occurred. | 12 | Study of reverse osmosis membranes fouling by inorganic salts and colloidal particles during seawater desalination显示文摘Fouling phenomenon is considered among the major reasons that cause significant increase of operating cost of desalination plants equipped with reverse osmosis(RO)membranes.This phenomenon is studied in the present work in the case of RO polyamide aromatic membranes using model seawater containing inorganic salts and colloidal compounds.Different solubility conditions of CaCO3 and CaSO4 were applied to study RO performances with and without colloid presence.During experiments,the membrane permeate fluxes were continuously monitored.Moreover,studies of chemical composition,structure,and morphology of the materials deposited on the membrane surface were conducted using energy dispersive microanalysis(EDS)X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy(SEM).Results show that in conditions of calcium carbonate oversaturation there is a reduction in the permeate flow of 11.2%due to fouling of the membrane by the precipitation of this compound.While in the same conditions of calcium sulphate oversaturation the reduction of the flow is 5%,so we can conclude that in conditions of oversaturation of both salts,calcium carbonate produces a greater fouling of the membrane that in its view causes greater decrease in the flow of permeate.All this based on the results of the test with both salts in oversaturated conditions.Resulting in the formation of calcite and gypsum crystals onto the membranes as XRD analyses stated.Additional presence of colloidal silica in those conditions intensifies strongly the fouling,leading until to 24.1%of permeate flux decrease. | Santiago Gutiérrez Ruiz Juan Antonio López-Ramírez Mohammed Hassani Zerrouk Agata Egea-Corbacho Lopera JoséMaría Quiroga Alonso | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,3: | 5 |

| 16 | Morphophysiological and molecular evidence supporting the augmentative role of Piriformospora indica in mitigation of salinity in Cucumis melo L.显示文摘Salinity is one of the major limiting factors in plant growth and productivity.Cucumis melo L.is a widely cultivated plant,but its productivity is significantly influenced by the level of salinity in soil.Symbiotic colonization of plants with Piriformospora indica has shown a promotion in plants growth and tolerance against biotic stress.In this study,physiological markers such as ion analysis,antioxidant determination,proline content,electrolyte leakage and chlorophyll measurement were assessed in melon cultivar under two concentrations(100 and 200 mM)of NaCl with and without P.indica inoculation.Results showed that the endophytic inoculation consistently upregulated the level of antioxidants,enhanced plants to antagonize salinity stress.The expression level of an RNA editing factor(SLO2)which is known to participate in mitochondria electron transport chain was analyzed,and its full mRNA sequence was obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends(RACE).Under salinity stress,the expression level of SLO2 was increased,enhancing the plant’s capability to adapt to the stress.However,P.indica inoculation further elevated the expression level of SLO2.These findings suggested that the symbiotic association of fungi could help the plants to tolerate the salinity stress. | Danial Hassani Muhammad Khalid Danfeng Huang Yi-Dong Zhang | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,3: | 3 |
