1A Chromosome-Level Genome Assembly of Garlic (Allium sativum) Provides Insights into Genome Evolution and Allicin Biosynthesis显示文摘Garlic,an economically important vegetable,spice,and medicinal crop,produces highly enlarged bulbs and unique organosulfur compounds.Here,we report a chromosome-level genome assembly for garlic,with a total size of approximately 16.24 Gb,as well as the annotation of 57561 predicted protein-coding genes,making garlic the first Allium species with a sequenced genome.Analysis of this garlic genome assembly reveals a recent burst of transposable elements,explaining the substantial expansion of the garlic genome.We examined the evolution of certain genes associated with the biosynthesis of allicin and inulin neoseries-type fructans,and provided new insights into the biosynthesis of these two compounds.Furthermore,a large-scale transcriptome was produced to characterize the expression patterns of garlic genes in different tissues and at various growth stages of enlarged bulbs.The reference genome and large-scale transcriptome data generated in this study provide valuable new resources for research on garlic biology and breeding.Xiudong Sun Siyuan Zhu Ningyang Li Yi Cheng Jing Zhao Xuguang Qiao Li Lu Shiqi Liu Yanzhou Wang Chan Liu Benping Li Wu Guo Shuang Gao Zemao Yang Fu Li Zheng Zeng Qing Tang Yupeng Pan Mengjiao Guan Jian Zhao Xiaomi ng Lu Huanwe n Meng Zhenlin Han Chun she ng Gao Wenkai Jiang Xing Zhao Shilin Tian Jianguang Su Zhihui Cheng Touming Liu 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,9:14
2Therapeutics administered during ex vivo liver machine perfusion:An overview显示文摘Although the use of extended criteria donors has increased the pool of available livers for transplant,it has also introduced the need to develop improved methods of protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI),as these'marginal'organs are particularly vulnerable to IRI during the process of procurement,preservation,surgery,and post-transplantation.In this review,we explore the current basic science research investigating therapeutics administered during ex vivo liver machine perfusion aimed at mitigating the effects of IRI in the liver transplantation process.These various categories of therapeutics are utilized during the perfusion process and include invoking the RNA interference pathway,utilizing defatting cocktails,and administering classes of agents such as vasodilators,anti-inflammatory drugs,human liver stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles,and δ-opioid agonists in order to reduce the damage of IRI.Ex vivo machine perfusion is an attractive alternative to static cold storage due to its ability to continuously perfuse the organ,effectively deliver substrates and oxygen required for cellular metabolism,therapeutically administer pharmacological or cytoprotective agents,and continuously monitor organ viability during perfusion.The use of administered therapeutics during machine liver perfusion has demonstrated promising results in basic science studies.While novel therapeutic approaches to combat IRI are being developed through basic science research,their use in clinical medicine and treatment in patients for liver transplantation has yet to be explored.Julianna E Buchwald Jing Xu Adel Bozorgzadeh Paulo N Martins 2020World Journal of Transplantation2020,10,1:3

4Bioinspired membranes for multi-phase liquid and molecule separation显示文摘Water pollution is a serious problem around the world. It causes the lack of clean drinking water and brings risks to human health.Membrane technology has become a competitive candidate to treat the contaminated wastewater due to its high separation efficiency and low energy consumption. In this review, we introduce the recent development of several kinds of bioinspired separation membranes, involving the membrane design and applications. We emphasize the multi-phase liquid separation membranes inspired from nature with special wettability applied for oil/water separation, organic liquids mixture separation, and emulsion separation. After separating multi-phase liquids using these membranes, small molecule pollutants still exist in singlephase liquid. Therefore, we also expand the scope to small molecule-scale separation membranes, such as the nacre-like graphene oxide separation membrane and other nanofiltration membranes.
