| 1 | Non-parasitic splenic cysts: A report of three cases显示文摘Primary splenic cyst is a relatively rare disease, and the majority of cases are classified as epithelial cysts. Three cases with nonparasitic splenic cysts are presented: two epithelial and one pseudocyst. All cases had an atypical symptomatology, consisted mainly of fullness in the left upper abdomen and a palpable mass. Preoperative diagnosis was established with ultrasonography and computerized tomography. Two cases with large cysts located in the splenic hilum were treated with open complete splenectomy. The most recent case, a pseudocyst, was managed laparoscopically with partial cystectomy. All cases did not have any problems or recurrence during follow-up. Laparoscopic partial cystectomy is an acceptable procedure for the treatment of splenic cysts, because it cures the disease preserving the splenic tissue. | 4 | Role of pancreatic endoscopic ultrasonography in 2010显示文摘Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) was introduced 25 years ago aiming at better visualization of the pancreas compared to transabdominal ultrasonography. This update discusses the current evidence in 2010 concerning the role of EUS in the clinical management of patients with pancreatic disease. Major indications of EUS are:(1) Detection of common bile duct stones (e.g. in acute pancreatitis); (2) Detection of small exo-and endocrine pancreatic tumours; and (3) Performance of fine needle aspiration in pancreatic masses depending on therapeutic consequences. EUS seems to be less useful in cases of chronic pancreatitis and cystic pan-creatic lesions. Moreover the constant improvement of computed tomography has limited the role of EUS in pancreatic cancer staging. On the other hand,new therapeutic options are available due to EUS,such as pancreatic cyst drainage and celiac plexus neurolysis,offering a new field in which new techniques may arise. | 5 | Silver impregnated carbon for adsorption and desorption of elemental mercury vapors显示文摘The Hg 0 vapor adsorption experimental results on a novel sorbent obtained by impregnating a commercially available activated carbon (Darco G60 from BDH) with silver nitrate were reported.The study was performed by using a fundamental approach,in an apparatus at laboratory scale in which a synthetic flue gas,formed by Hg 0 vapors in a nitrogen gas stream,at a given temperature and mercury concentration,was flowed through a fixed bed of adsorbent material.Breakthrough curves and adsorption isotherms were obtained for bed temperatures of 90,120 and 150°C and for Hg 0 concentrations in the gas varying in the range of 0.8–5.0 mg/m 3 .The experimental gas-solid equilibrium data were used to evaluate the Langmuir parameters and the heat of adsorption.The experimental results showed that silver impregnated carbon was very effective to capture elemental mercury and the amount of mercury adsorbed by the carbon decreased as the bed temperature increased.In addition,to evaluate the possibility of adsorbent recovery,desorption was also studied.Desorption runs showed that both the adsorbing material and the mercury could be easily recovered,since at the end of desorption the residue on solid was almost negligible.The material balance on mercury and the constitutive equations of the adsorption phenomenon were integrated,leading to the evaluation of only one kinetic parameter which fits well both the experimentally determined breakthrough and desorption curves. | Despina Karatza Marina Prisciandaro Amedeo Lancia Dino Musmarra | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011，23，9： | 3 |
| 6 | Abscesses of the spleen:Report of three cases显示文摘Abscess of the spleen is a rare discovery, with about 600 cases in the international literature so far. Although it may have various causes, it is most usually associated with trauma and infections of the spleen. The latter are more common in the presence of a different primary site of infection, especially endocarditis or in cases of ischemic infarcts that are secondarily infected. Moreover, immunosuppression is a major risk factor. Clinical examination usually reveals a combination of fever, left-upper-quadrant abdominal pain and vomiting. Laboratory findings are not constant. Imaging is a necessary tool for establishing the diagnosis, with a choice between ultrasound and computed tomography. Treatment includes conservative measures, and surgical intervention. In children and in cases of solitary abscesses with a thick wall, percutaneous catheter drainage may be attempted. Otherwise, splenectomy is the preferred approach in most centers. Here, we present three cases of splenic abscess. In all three, splenectomy was performed, followed by rapid clinical improvement. | 7 | Innovation Portfolio Management for Small-medium Enterprises显示文摘For small and medium sized enterprises,portfolio management can be a difficult exercise;especially when the available paths forwards are shrouded in mystery.To overcome this,they are required to research and decide upon the path to follow,but this can be difficult when the information to gather is unclear,leading to ad-hoc processes and inconsistency.The motivation for this project originated from a small and medium sized enterprise experiencing this problem of unknown critical information and a technological portfolio with significant potential.With no procedure or method in place,they conducted the research in an ad-hoc way resulting in uncertainty and low repeatability of decisions.To tackle this problem,innovation structuring frameworks were synthesised with appropriate risks and context to pose a new structure for information capture.The resulting structure was tested within the small and medium sized enterprise to investigate the repeatability of the information capture and the subsequent ranking.The proposed structure was also analysed by-process experts for its wider applicability.For the small and medium sized enterprise,this led to a consistent and repeatable method that delivered increased confidence about selecting a path forwards for its portfolio.In addition,it was found to be applicable to external organisations increasing the moders worth and applicability.The implications of this work have led to a change in the operational procedure of the small and medium sized enterprise to utilise the defined process for researching new ideas for their portfolio which can lead to repeatable and trustworthy decisions.This also has applicability to other similar companies and could lead them through a repeatable process as presented here. | Daniel Pashley Theo Tryfonas Andy Crossley Chris Setchell Stylianos Karatzas | 2020 | Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2020，29，5： | 2 |
