| 2 | Clinical outcome after pulmonary metastasectomy from primary hepatocellular carcinoma:Analysis of prognostic factors显示文摘AIM: To review the surgical outcomes in terms of the surgical indications and relevant prognostic factors. METHODS: Sixteen patients underwent therapeutic lung surgery between March 1999 and May 2006. The observation period was terminated on May 31, 2007. The surgical outcomes and the clinicopathological factors were compared. RESULTS: There was no mortality or major morbidity encountered in this study. The mean follow-up period after metastasectomy was 26.7 ± 28.2 (range: 1-99 mo), and the median survival time was 20 mo. The 1-and 5-year survival rates were 56% and 26%, respectively. At the end of the follow-up, 1 patient died from hepatic failure without recurrence, 6 died from hepatic failure with a recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and 4 died from recurrent HCC with cachexia. Among several clinical factors, Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that liver transplantation as a treatment for the primary lesion, grade of cell differentiation, and negative evidence HBV infection were independent predictive factors. On Cox's proportional hazard model, there were no significant factors affecting survival after pulmonary metastasectomy in patients with HCC. CONCLUSION: A metastasectomy should be performed before other treatments in selected patients. Although not significant, patients with liver transplantation of a primary HCC survived longer. Liver transplantation might be the most beneficial modality that can offer patients better survival. | 3 | Gravitational wave astrophysics, data analysis and multimessenger astronomy显示文摘This paper reviews gravitational wave sources and their detection. One of the most exciting potential sources of gravitational waves are coalescing binary black hole systems. They can occur on all mass scales and be formed in numerous ways, many of which are not understood. They are generally invisible in electromagnetic waves, and they provide opportunities for deep investigation of Einstein's general theory of relativity. Sect. 1 of this paper considers ways that binary black holes can be created in the universe, and includes the prediction that binary black hole coalescence events are likely to be the first gravitational wave sources to be detected. The next parts of this paper address the detection of chirp waveforms from coalescence events in noisy data.Such analysis is computationally intensive. Sect. 2 reviews a new and powerful method of signal detection based on the GPUimplemented summed parallel infinite impulse response filters. Such filters are intrinsically real time alorithms, that can be used to rapidly detect and localise signals. Sect. 3 of the paper reviews the use of GPU processors for rapid searching for gravitational wave bursts that can arise from black hole births and coalescences. In sect. 4 the use of GPU processors to enable fast efficient statistical significance testing of gravitational wave event candidates is reviewed. | 5 | Effects of platinum content on tribological properties of platinum/nitrogen doped diamond-like carbon thin films deposited via magnetron sputtering显示文摘Platinum(Pt)and nitrogen(N)were co-incorporated in diamond-like carbon(DLC)thin films using a magnetron sputtering system to form PtN-DLC thin films for tribological applications.The Pt content in the PtN-DLC films prepared on Si substrates was controlled by varying RF power applied to a Pt target at a fixed N2 flow rate.The tribological properties of the PtN-DLC films were investigated with respect to the Pt content in the films.The uncoated Si substrate surface tested against a steel ball of 6 mm in diameter had significant abrasive and fatigue wear,while no significant wear was found on the N-DLC coated sample surface,indicating that the N-DLC film effectively prevented its underlying Si substrate from wear.However,the incorporation of Pt in the N-DLC films reduced the wear resistance of the films by degrading sp3-bonded cross-linking structures of the films so that significant wear tracks were found on the surfaces of the PtN-DLC films.Therefore,the increased radio frequency(RF)power applied to the Pt target decreased the wear resistance of the PtN-DLC films as a result of the increased Pt content. | Nay Win KHUN Erjia LIU | 2014 | Friction2014，2，1： | 2 |
