| 1 | Intestinal antigen-presenting cells in mucosal immune homeostasis:Crosstalk between dendritic cells,macrophages and B-cells显示文摘The intestinal immune system maintains a delicate balance between immunogenicity against invading pathogens and tolerance of the commensal microbiota.Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)involves a breakdown in tolerance towards the microbiota.Dendritic cells(DC),macrophages(MΦ)and B-cells are known as professional antigen-presenting cells(APC)due to their specialization in presenting processed antigen to T-cells,and in turn shaping types of T-cell responses generated.Intestinal DC are migratory cells,unique in their ability to generate primary T-cell responses in mesenteric lymph nodes or Peyer’s patches,whilst MΦand B-cells contribute to polarization and differentiation of secondary T-cell responses in the gut lamina propria.The antigen-sampling function of gut DC and MΦenables them to sample bacterial antigens from the gut lumen to determine types of T-cell responses generated.The primary function of intestinal B-cells involves their secretion of large amounts of immunoglobulin A,which in turn contributes to epithelial barrier function and limits immune responses towards to microbiota.Here,we review the role of all three types of APC in intestinal immunity,both in the steady state and in inflammation,and how these cells interact with one another,as well as with the intestinal microenvironment,to shape mucosal immune responses.We describe mechanisms of maintaining intestinal immune tolerance in the steady state but also inappropriate responses of APC to components of the gut microbiota that contribute to pathology in IBD. | Elizabeth R Mann Xuhang Li | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,29: | 19 |
| 2 | A Review of the Functional and Anatomical Default Mode Network in Schizophrenia显示文摘Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by impaired perception,delusions,thought disorder,abnormal emotion regulation,altered motor function,and impaired drive. The default mode network(DMN),since it was first proposed in 2001,has become a central research theme in neuropsychiatric disorders,including schizophrenia. In this review,first we define the DMN and describe its functional activity,functional and anatomical connectivity,heritability,and inverse correlation with the task positive network. Second,we review empirical studies of the anatomical and functional DMN,and anti-correlation between DMN and the task positive network in schizophrenia. Finally,we review preliminary evidence about the relationship between antipsychotic medications and regulation of the DMN,review the role of DMN as a treatment biomarker for this disease,and consider the DMN effects of individualized therapies for schizophrenia. | Mao-Lin Hu Xiao-Fen Zong J. | 3 | Reconsideration of the phylogenetic positions of three stichotrichous genera Holosticha,Anteholosticha and Pseudokeronopsis (Spirotrichea:Ciliophora) inferred from complete SSU rRNA gene sequences显示文摘The small subunit rRNA (SSU rRNA) gene for six marine stichotrichs, Pseudokeronopsis carnea, P. flava, Holosticha heterofoissneri, H. diademata, H. bradburyae and Anteholosticha manca, was sequenced and characterized. Using this molecular information, the phylogenetic positions of three related genera, Pseudokeronopsis, Holosticha and Anteholosticha were determined. The results indicate that the family Urostylidae is clearly separated from the family Pseudokeronopsidae. The present phylogenetic analyses unambiguously placed Pseudokeronopsis close to Holosticha, and support the conclusion that these genera should be regarded as the members of the order Urostylidae within the stichotrich clade.
