| 1 | p16 promoter hypermethylation:A useful serum marker for early detection of gastric cancer显示文摘AIM: To determine p16 promoter hypermethylation in gastric tumoral tissue and serum samples, its impact on p16-protein expression, and correlation with clinical and histological features. METHODS: Samples were obtained from 52 histologically confirmed cases of gastric adenocarcinoma. Gastric tissue and serum of 50 age- and sex-matched individuals with normal gastroscopy and biopsy were obtained as control samples. Methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP) was used to evaluate methylation status of p16 promoter. p16-protein expression was analyzed by immunohistochemical staining on paraffin-embedded sections. RESULTS: Methylation was detected in 44.2% (23/52) of tumoral tissues. 60.9% of them were also methylated in serum, i.e., 26.9% of all patients (14/52). Methylation was not detected in tissue and sera of control samples. p16-protein expression was decreased in 61.5% of cases (32/52), and was significantly associated with promoter hypermethylation (P < 0.001). Methylation was significantly more frequent in higher pathological grades (P < 0.05). Methylation was not associated with other clinicopathological features and environmental factors including H pylori infection and smoking. CONCLUSION: p16 promoter hypermethylation is an important event in gastric carcinogenesis. It is the principle mechanism of p16 gene silencing. It is related to malignant tumor behavior. Insulin signaling dysregulation and small vessel disease in the base of diabetes may be important contributing factors in Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia pathogenesis, respectively. Optimal glycemic control in type 1 diabetes and identification of diabetic risk factors and prophylactic approach in type 2 diabetes are very important in the prevention of cognitive complications. In addition, hypoglycemic attacks in children and elderly should be avoided. | 4 | Expression of cell adhesion molecule CD44 in gastric adenocarcinoma and its prognostic importance显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the relation of cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) expression with clinicopathological features of gastric adenocarcinoma, and also its effect on prognosis with an emphasis on the differences between intestinal and diffuse types. METHODS: From 2000 to 2006, 100 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma, who had undergone total or subtotal gastrectomy without any prior treatment, were studied. Haematoxylin & eosin (HE) staining was used for histological evaluation, including the type (Lauren's classifi cation) and grading of the tumor. The expression of CD44 in the gastric adenocarcinoma mucosa and the adjacent mucosa were determined by immunohistochemistry. The survival analysis was obtained using the Kaplan-Meier test. RESULTS: Of 100 patients, 74 (74%) patients were male. The tumors were categorized as intestinal type (78%) or diffuse type (22%). Sixty-five percent of patients were CD44-positive. CD44 expression was not detected in normal gastric mucosa. Rather, CD44 was more commonly expressed in the intestinal subtype (P = 0.002). A signifi cant relation was seen between the grade of tumor and the expression of CD44 (P = 0.014). The survival analysis showed a poor prognosis of patients with CD44-positive tumors (P = 0.008); and this was more prominent in the intestinal (P = 0.001) rather than diffuse type. CONCLUSION: Cell adhesion molecule CD44 is highly expressed in gastric adenocarcinoma. CD44 expression is correlated with a poor prognosis in patients with the intestinal type of gastric adenocarcinoma. | 5 | Tree-Temperature Monitoring for Frost Protection of Orchards in Semi-Arid Regions Using Sprinkler Irrigation显示文摘Automated over-tree sprinkler irrigation systems were developed and tested in two orchards located in two separate locations in southern Iran(a 0.17 ha peach orchard and a 0.24 ha orange orchard) to protect peach blossoms and orange trees leaves and fruits from low temperature damage.The experiment used a system that monitored the trees and air temperatures using two thermistors.The water application rate by the irrigation system was determined by an energy balance as implemented by the software FROSTPRO.In the peach orchard,the system was tested during three frost events during the spring of 2003 and three other events during the spring of 2004.The system successfully kept peach flowers above the critical temperature,i.e.,-4.0°C in spring 2004(control block -4.12°C,and sprinkled block +0.5°C) during all events.Similar results were obtained in the orange orchard during three frost events in the winter of 2004,during which the tree temperatures were at least 2.5°C above the critical temperature.Results from field tests show that the system can effectively protect the peach blossoms from damage.Determination done after the frost events showed a 12% blossom kill in the sprinkled blocks while in the unsprinkled control block a 41.5% blossom kill.Calculations indicated that when using variable application rates,the amount of water used can be reduced by 54.3%.Spatial distribution of minimum temperatures during the three frosts was also studied in Jahrom,Iran.Results showed a significant temperature control in the experimental block,especially in the central part of the orchard,but the block margins(about 3.6% of the total area) were at the risk of low temperature due to the wind drift effects. | Ali Asghar Ghaemi Mohammad Rafie Rafiee Ali Reza Sepaskhah | 2009 | Agricultural Sciences in China2009，8，1： | 14 |
| 6 | Identification of squamous cell carcinoma associated proteins by proteomics and loss of beta tropomyosin expression in esophageal cancer显示文摘AIM: To assess the proteome of normal versus tumor tissue in squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus (SCCE) in Iranian patients and compare our results with former reports by using proteomics. METHODS: Protein was extracted from normal and tumor tissues. Two dimensional electrophoresis was carried out and spots with differential expression were identified with mass spectrometry. RNA extraction and RT-PCR along with immunodetection were performed. RESULTS: Fourteen proteins were found whose expression levels differed in tumor compared to normal tissues. Mass spectrometric analysis resulted in the identification of β-tropomyosin (TMβ), myosin light chain 2 (and its isoform), myosin regulatory light chain 2, peroxyredoxin 2, annexinⅠand an unknown polypeptide as the down regulated polypeptides in tumor tissue. Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), TPM4-ALK fusion oncoprotein 2, myosin light polypeptide 6, keratinⅠ, GH16431p and calreticulin were the up-regulated polypeptides found in tumor tissue. Several of these proteins, such as TMβ,HSP70, annexinⅠ, calreticulin, TPM4-ALK and isoforms of myosins, have been well recognized in tumorigenesis of esophageal or other types of cancers. | 10 | Predictive value and main determinants of abnormal features of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:The major issue with intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is whether its diagnostic accuracy for common bile duct (CBD) stones matches that of other diagnostic procedures,and thus,whether it will become a routine diagnostic procedure.The current study aimed to address the main determinants of CBD stone diagnosis in IOC among an Iranian population.METHODS:In a retrospective review database-based study conducted in Taleghani Hospital in Tehran between 2006 and 2008,baseline data and perioperative information of 2060 patients (male to female ratio 542:1518,mean age 53.7 years) who were candidates for cholecystectomy and underwent concomitant IOC for confirming CBD stones were reviewed.The predictive power of this procedure for diagnosis of abnormal biliary ducts with the focus on biliary stones was determined.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity following cholecystectomy in the study population were 0.6% and 2.6%,respectively.Both early mortality and morbidity due to cholecystectomy were higher in male than female.The prevalence of CBD stones in IOC was 3.4% (5.2% in male and 2.8% in female,P=0.008).Among those without gallstones,8.7% had CBD stones and only 3.1% had concomitant gallstones and CBD stones.The main predictors of stone appearance as an abnormal feature of IOC during cholecystectomy were:advanced age (OR=1.022,P=0.001),male gender (OR=1.498,P=0.050),history of abdominal surgery (OR=1.543,P=0.040) and preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (OR=5.400,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:IOC is a safe and accurate method for the assessment of bile duct anatomy and stones.Therefore,the routine use of IOC within cholecystectomy seems reasonable and is recommended. | Shahram Yousefpour Azary Heshmat Kalbasi Ali Setayesh Mirhadi Mousavi Asad Hashemi Mahsa Khodadoostan Mohammad Reza Zali Amir Houshang Mohammad Alizadeh | 2011 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011，10，3： | 11 |

Two statistical models including univariate exponential regression (UER) and multivariate linear regression (MLR) were used in this study. Loading equipment parameters such as bucket capacity, machine weight, engine power, boom length, digging depth, and dumping height were considered as variables. The results obtained by models and mean absolute error rate indicate that these models can be applied as the useful tool in determination of overhaul and maintenance cost of loading equipment. | 17 | Optimization of cement-based grouts using chemical additives显示文摘Grout injection is used for sealing or strengthening the ground in order to prevent water entrance or any failure after excavation.There are many methods of grouting.Permeation grouting is one of the most common types in which the grout material is injected to the pore spaces of the ground.In grouting operations,the grout quality is important to achieve the best results.There are four main characteristics for a grout mixture including bleeding,setting time,strength,and viscosity.In this paper,we try to build some efficient grouting mixtures with different water to cement ratios considering these characteristics.The ingredients of grout mixtures built in this study are cement,water,bentonite,and some chemical additives such as sodium silicate,sodium carbonate,and triethanolamine(TEA).The grout mixtures are prepared for both of the sealing and strengthening purposes for a structural project.Effect of each abovementioned ingredient is profoundly investigated.Since each ingredient may have positive or negative aspect,an optimization of appropriate amount of each ingredient is determined.The optimization is based on 200 grout mixture samples with different percentages of ingredients.Finally,some of these grout mixtures are chosen for the introduced project.It should be mentioned that grouting operations depend on various factors such as pressure of injection,ground structure and grain size of soils.However,quality of a grout can be helpful to make an injection easier and reasonable.For example,during the injection,a wrong estimated setting time can destroy the injected grout by washing the grout or setting early which prevents grouting.This paper tries to show some tests in easy way to achieve a desirable sample of grout. | Mohammad Reza Azadi Ali Taghichian Ali Taheri | 2017 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017，9，4： | 8 |

| 19 | 翼状胬肉:羊膜移植和自体结膜瓣移植(英文)显示文摘目的:比较原发性和复发性翼状胬肉羊膜移植术和自体结膜瓣移植术的效果,测定指标为术后复发率。方法:对从2004-04/2006-02连续翼状胬肉病例作前瞻性研究。患者被随机分为2组:羊膜移植组(26例)和自体结膜瓣移植组(24例)。所有病例均用羊膜移植术或自体结膜瓣移植术,并广泛切除纤维血管组织。随访24mo观察复发和并发症。手术操作由同一位手术医师施行。对人口统计变数、手术技术、复发和术后并发症的相关性进行分析。结果:患者男女比例为4∶1,右眼与左眼的比例为3∶2。其中70%翼状胬肉是原发性,30%为复发。最常见的临床症状是眼部充血和视力下降,最常见的并发症是复发和角膜瘢痕。随访1mo,羊膜移植组和自体结膜瓣移植组的复发率分别为3.8%,8.3%,随访24mo后比例上升为46.2%,25%。结论:自体结膜瓣移植术后2a随访的成功率更好。翼状胬肉羊膜移植术复发率高,不被广泛接受。 | Mohammad Reza Besharati Seyed Ali Mohammad Miratashi Amir Bahrami Ahmadi | 2006 | 国际眼科杂志2006，6，6： | 7 |
