| 1 | High expression levels of IKK alpha and IKK beta are necessary for the malignant properties of liver cancer显示文摘IKK-NF-kappa B signaling is regarded as an important factor in hepatocarcinogenesis and a potential target for liver cancer therapy.Therefore,in this study,we analyzed the expression of mRNAs encoding components and targets of NF-kappa B signaling including IKK alpha,IKK beta,RANK,RANKL,OPG,CyclinD3,mammary serine protease inhibitor(Maspin),CyclinD1,c-FLIP,Bcl-x1,Stat3,Cip1 and Cip2 by real-time PCR in 40 patients with liver cancer.After statistical analysis,7 indices including IKK alpha,IKK beta,RANK,Maspin,c-FLIP,Cip2 and cyclinD1 were found to show significant differences between tumor tissue and its corresponding adjacent tissue.When IKK alpha and IKK beta were downregulated in the hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cell lines of MHCC-97L and MHCC-97H in vitro,the numbers of BrdU positive cells were decreased in both IKK alpha and IKK beta knockdown cells.Levels of apoptosis were also investigated in IKK alpha and IKK beta knockdown cells.The growth of HCC was inhibited in the subcutaneous implantation model,and lung metastatogenesis was also significantly inhibited in the kidney capsule transplantation model.Downregulation of IKK alpha and IKK beta in HCC cultured in vitro revealed that increased Maspin,OPG and RANKL expression was associated with metastasis of HCC.These findings were associated with downregulation of Bcl-XL and c-FLIP,which may be the reason for increased apoptosis.The therapeutic effect of IKK alpha and IKK beta downregulation depends on extent of NF-kappa B inhibition and the malignant nature of the HCC.We anticipate that IKK-targeted gene therapy can be used in the treatment of HCC,a cancer that is notoriously resistant to radiation and chemotherapy. | Jiang,RQ Xia,YX Li,J Deng,L Zhao,L Shi,J Wang,XH Sun,BC Nanjing Med Univ,Liver Transplantat Ctr,Affiliated Hosp 1,Nanjing,Jiangsu Prov,Peoples R China Nanjing Med Univ,Ctr Canc,Nanjing,Jiangsu Prov,Peoples R China | 2010 | 南京医科大学学报(自然科学版)2010，30，5： | 13 |
| 2 | Oxygen and Nitrogen Effects on MC Carbide in K465 Nickel-Base Superalloy显示文摘Effects of oxygen and nitrogen on MC carbide in nickel-base superalloy K465 were investigated, because neither of the two gas elements was found to decide MC carbide morphology monotonically. The morphology of MC carbide under alloy solidified in conventional investment casting condition was observed to transform from script-type to block-type with the total oxygen and nitrogen content (gas content) in samples rising up from 1.2×10-6 mol/g to 2.6×10-6 mol/g. The area fraction and composition of the MC carbide also varied with increase of gas content. However, the morphology of MC carbide kept to be script-type even when gas content was up to 3.4×10-6 mol/g in samples solidified with a much higher cooling rate. | 3 | Nephropathy in dietary hyperoxaluria:A potentially preventable acute or chronic kidney disease显示文摘Hyperoxaluria can cause not only nephrolithiasis and nephrocalcinosis,but also renal parenchymal disease histologically characterized by deposition of calcium oxalate crystals throughout the renal parenchyma,profound tubular damage and interstitial inflammation and fibrosis.Hyperoxaluric nephropathy presents clinically as acute or chronic renal failure that may progress to endstage renal disease(ESRD).This sequence of events,well recognized in the past in primary and enteric hyperoxalurias,has also been documented in a few cases of dietary hyperoxaluria.Estimates of oxalate intake in patients with chronic dietary hyperoxaluria who developed chronic kidney disease or ESRD were comparable to the reported average oxalate content of the diets of certain populations worldwide,thus raising the question whether dietary hyperoxaluria is a primary cause of ESRD in these regions.Studies addressing this question have the potential of improving population health and should be undertaken,alongside ongoing studies which are yielding fresh insights into the mechanisms of intestinal absorption and renal excretion of oxalate,and into the mechanisms of development of oxalate-induced renal parenchymal disease.Novel preventive and therapeutic strategies for treating all types of hyperoxaluria are expected to develop from these studies. | Robert H Glew Yijuan Sun Bruce L Horowitz Konstantin N Konstantinov Marc Barry Joanna R Fair Larry Massie Antonios H Tzamaloukas | 2014 | World Journal of Nephrology2014，3，4： | 3 |
| 4 | Gynecologic oncologists involvement on ovarian cancer standard of care receipt and survival显示文摘AIM:To examine the influence of gynecologic oncolo-gists(GO) in the United States on surgical/chemotherapeutic standard of care(SOC), and how this translates into improved survival among women with ovarian cancer(OC).METHODS: Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Result(SEER)-Medicare data were used to identify 11688 OC patients(1992-2006). Only Medicare recipients with an initial surgical procedure code(n = 6714) were included. Physician specialty was identified by linking SEER-Medicare to the American Medical Association Masterfile. SOC was defined by a panel of GOs. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine predictors of receiving surgical/chemotherapeutic SOCand proportional hazards modeling to estimate the effect of SOC treatment and physician specialty on survival. RESULTS: About 34% received surgery from a GO and 25% received the overall SOC. One-third of women had a GO involved sometime during their care. Women receiving surgery from a GO vs non-GO had 2.35 times the odds of receiving the surgical SOC and 1.25 times the odds of receiving chemotherapeutic SOC(P < 0.01). Risk of mortality was greater among women not receiving surgical SOC compared to those who did [hazard ratio = 1.22(95%CI: 1.12-1.33), P < 0.01], and also was higher among women seen by non-GOs vs GOs(for surgical treatment) after adjusting for covariates. Median survival time was 14 mo longer for women receiving combined SOC. CONCLUSION: A survival advantage associated with receiving surgical SOC and overall treatment by a GO is supported.
