2Subcellular distribution and compartmentalization of arsenic in Pteris vittata L.显示文摘The subcellular distribution of arsenic (As) in Pteris vittata L., an As-hyperaccumulator, was studied to de- termine As compartmentalization and to explore the mecha- nisms that confer As tolerance. When the plant was grown in a nutrient solution without additional As, most of the accu- mulated As was isolated to the cell wall. However, in plants growing in a nutrient solution containing 0.1 or 0.2 mmol/L As, approximately 78% of the total As accumulated within the pinna. The proportions of As accumulation in the cyto- plasmic supernatant fraction were 78% of that in the pinna and 61% of that in the plant. In either treatment group (0.1 or 0.2 mmol/L As), the fraction containing the lowest level of As was the organelle fraction. These results suggest that As accumulates in the pinna where it is primarily distributed in the cytoplasmic supernatant fraction. 4Weathering of Pisha-Sandstones in the Wind-Water Erosion Crisscross Region on the Loess Plateau显示文摘Two types of pisha-sandstones of purple sandstones and gray sandstones,widely distributing in the wind-water erosion crisscross region of China,were selected and used in laboratory experiments for a better understanding of the drying-wetting-freezing weathering process resulting from the apportionment of water or salt solution to rock samples.Weathering experiments were carried out under the conditions of environment control(including temperature,moisture and salt solution).All rock samples were frequently subjected to 140 drying-wetting-freezing cycles.The influences of weathering process were evaluated.It was found that the different treatments of moisture and salt solution applications could affect the nature of the weathering products resulting from drying-wetting-freezing.It was also observed that salt solution could effectively alleviate the weathering of pisha-sandstones.Although not all the observations could be explained,it was apparent that simulated environmental factors had both direct and indirect effects on the weathering of rocks.NI Hanbin ZHANG Liping ZHANG Dengrong WU Xiyuan FU Xingtao 2008Journal of Mountain Science2008,5,4:11

6Origin and Distribution of Groundwater Chemical Fields of the Oilfield in the Songliao Basin,NE China显示文摘There are many factors affecting the chemical characteristics of groundwater in the forming process of groundwater chemical fields, such as freshening due to meteoric water leaching downwards, freshening due to mudstone compaction and water release, concentration due to infiltration and freshening due to dehydration of clay minerals. As a result, the groundwater chemical fields are characterized by lengthwise stages and planar selectivity. The former arouses vertical chemical zonality of groundwater. Five units could be identified downwards in the Songliao basin: (1) freshening zone due to downward-leaching meteoric water, (2) concentration zone due to evaporation near the ground surface, (3) freshening zone due to mudstone compaction and water release, and concentration zone due to compaction and infiltration, (4) freshening zone due to dehydration of clay minerals, and (5) filtration-concentration zone; whereas the latter determines the planar division of groundwater chemical fields: (1) the freshening area due to meteoric water, asymmetrically on the margin of the basin, (2) the freshening area due to mudstone compaction and water release in the central part of the basin, (3) the leaky area, which is a transitional zone, and (4) leakage-evaporation area, which is a concentration zone. In the direction of centrifugal flows caused by mudstone compaction in the depression area, the mineralization degree, concentrations of Na+ and Cl?, and salinity coefficient (SC) increase, while concentrations of (CO32 ?+HCO3 ?) and SO42 ?, metamorphism coefficient (MC) and desulfuration coefficient (DSC) decrease. 7Adaptive augmentation of gain-scheduled controller for aerospace vehicles显示文摘This paper proposes an adaptive augmentation control design approach of the gain-scheduled controller.This extension is motivated by the need for augmentation of the baseline gainscheduled controller.The proposed approach can be utilized to design flight control systems for advanced aerospace vehicles with a large parameter variation.The flight dynamics within the flight envelope is described by a switched nonlinear system,which is essentially a switched polytopic system with uncertainties.The flight control system consists of a baseline gain-scheduled controller and a model reference adaptive augmentation controller,while the latter can recover the nominal performance of the gainscheduled controlled system under large uncertainties.By the multiple Lyapunov functions method,it is proved that the switched nonlinear system is uniformly ultimately bounded.To validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach,this approach is applied to a generic hypersonic vehicle,and the simulation results show that the system output tracks the command signal well even when large uncertainties exist.Xiyuan Huang Qing Wang Yali Wang Yanze Hou Chaoyang Dong 2013Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2013,24,2:8
8A new type of damper with friction-variable characteristics显示文摘Professor T.T.Soong is one of the early pioneers in fi eld of earthquake response control of structures.A new type of smart damper,which is based on an Energy Dissipating Restraint(EDR),is presented in this paper.The EDR by Nims and Kelly,which has a triangle hysteretic loop,behaves like an active variable stiffness system(AVS) and possesses the basic characteristics of a linear viscous damper but has diffi culty in capturing the output and large stroke simultaneously needed for practical applicataions in engineering structures.In order to overcome this limitation,the friction surface in the original Sumitomo EDR is divided into two parts with low and high friction coeffi cients in this paper.The results of f inite element analysis studies show that the new type of smart friction damper enables large friction force in proportion to relative displacement between two ends of the damper and has a large allowable displacement to fi t the demands of engineering applications.However,unlike the EDR by Nims and Kelly,this type of friction variable damper cannot self re-center.However,the lateral stiffness can be used to restore the structure.The nonlinear time history analysis of earthquake response for a structure equipped with the proposed friction variable dampers was carried out using the IDARC computer program.The results indicate that the proposed damper can successfully reduce the earthquake response of a structure.Zhou Xiyuan Peng Lingyun 2009Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2009,8,4:7
93D Lamellar-Structured Graphene Aerogels for Thermal Interface Composites with High Through-Plane Thermal Conductivity and Fracture Toughness显示文摘Although thermally conductive graphene sheets are efficient in enhancing in-plane thermal conductivities of polymers,the resulting nanocomposites usually exhibit low through-plane thermal conductivities,limiting their application as thermal interface materials.Herein,lamellarstructured polyamic acid salt/graphene oxide(PAAS/GO)hybrid aerogels are constructed by bidirectional freezing of PAAS/GO suspension followed by lyophilization.Subsequently,PAAS monomers are polymerized to polyimide(PI),while GO is converted to thermally reduced graphene oxide(RGO)during thermal annealing at 300℃.Final graphitization at 2800℃ converts PI to graphitized carbon with the inductive effect of RGO,and simultaneously,RGO is thermally reduced and healed to high-quality graphene.Consequently,lamellar-structured graphene aerogels with superior through-plane thermal conduction capacity are fabricated for the first time,and its superior through-plane thermal conduction capacity results from its vertically aligned and closely stacked high-quality graphene lamellae.After vacuum-assisted impregnation with epoxy,the resultant epoxy composite with 2.30 vol% of graphene exhibits an outstanding through-plane thermal conductivity of as high as 20.0 W m^−1 K^−1,100 times of that of epoxy,with a record-high specific thermal conductivity enhancement of 4310%.Furthermore,the lamellar-structured graphene aerogel endows epoxy with a high fracture toughness,~1.71 times of that of epoxy.Pengfei Liu Xiaofeng Li Peng Min Xiyuan Chang Chao Shu Yun Ding Zhong-Zhen Yu 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,2:7

11Acidity of Aerosols during Winter Heavy Haze Events in Beijing and Gucheng, China显示文摘We investigated the acidity and concentrations of water-soluble ions in PM_(2.5) aerosol samples collected from an urban site in Beijing and a rural site in Gucheng, Hebei Province from November 2016 to January 2017 to gain an insight into the formation of secondary inorganic species. The average SO_4^(2–), NO_3~–, and NH_4^+ concentrations were 8.3,12.5, and 14.1 μg m^(–3), respectively, at the urban site and 14.0, 14.2, and 24.2 μg m^(–3), respectively, at the rural site.The nitrogen and sulfur oxidation ratios in urban Beijing were correlated with relative humidity(with correlation coefficient r = 0.79 and 0.67, respectively) and the aerosol loadings. Based on a parameterization model, we found that the rate constant of the heterogeneous reactions for SO_2 on polluted days was about 10 times higher than that on clear days, suggesting that the heterogeneous reactions in the aerosol water played an essential role in haze events.The ISORROPIA II model was used to predict the aerosol pH, which had a mean(range) of 5.0(4.9–5.2) and 5.3(4.6–6.3) at the urban and rural site, respectively. Under the conditions with this predicted pH value, oxidation by dissolved NO_2 and the hydrolysis of N_2O_5 may be the major heterogeneous reactions forming SO_4^(2–) and NO_3~– in haze.We also analyzed the sensitivity of the aerosol p H to changes in the concentrations of SO_4^(2–), NO_3~–, and NH_4^+ under haze conditions. The aerosol p H was more sensitive to the SO_4^(2–) and NH_4^+ concentrations with opposing trends, than to the NO_3~– concentrations. 12Oxidation and Mechanical Properties of SiC/SiC-MoSi_2-ZrB_2 Coating for Carbon/Carbon Composites显示文摘To improve oxidation resistance of carbon/carbon(C/C) composites,a SiC/SiC-MoSi_2-ZrB_2 double-layer ceramic coating was prepared on C/C composites by two-step pack cementation.The phase compositions and microstructures of as-prepared multilayer coating were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.The oxidation resistance at 1773 K and the effect of thermal shock between 1773 K and room temperature on mechanical performance of coated specimens were investigated.The results show that the SiC/SiC-MoSi_2-ZrB_2 coating exhibits dense structure and is composed of SiC,Si,MoSi_2 and ZrB_2·It can protect C/C composites from oxidation at 1773 K for more than 510 h with weight loss of 0.5%.The excellent anti-oxidation performance of the coating is due to the formation of SiO_2-ZrSiO_4 complex glassy film.The coating can also endure the thermal shocks between 1773 K and room temperature for 20 times with residual flexural strength of 86.1%.Xiyuan Yao Hejun Li Yulei Zhang Yongjie Wang 2014Journal of Materials Science & Technology2014,30,2:4

16Universal frequency engineering tool for microcavity nonlinear optics:multiple selective mode splitting of whispering-gallery resonances显示文摘Whispering-gallery microcavities have been used to realize a variety of efficient parametric nonlinear optical processes through the enhanced light–matter interaction brought about by supporting multiple high quality factor and small modal volume resonances.Critical to such studies is the ability to control the relative frequencies of the cavity modes,so that frequency matching is achieved to satisfy energy conservation.Typically this is done by tailoring the resonator cross section.Doing so modifies the frequencies of all of the cavity modes,that is,the global dispersion profile,which may be undesired,for example,in introducing competing nonlinear processes.Here,we demonstrate a frequency engineering tool,termed multiple selective mode splitting(MSMS),that is independent of the global dispersion and instead allows targeted and independent control of the frequencies of multiple cavity modes.In particular,we show controllable frequency shifts up to 0.8 nm,independent control of the splitting of up to five cavity modes with optical quality factors≳10^5,and strongly suppressed frequency shifts for untargeted modes.The MSMS technique can be broadly applied to a wide variety of nonlinear optical processes across different material platforms and can be used to both selectively enhance processes of interest and suppress competing unwanted processes.Xiyuan Lu Ashutosh Rao Gregory Moille Daron A.Westly Kartik Srinivasan 2020Photonics Research2020,8,11:3

18Indoor INS/UWB-based Human Localization With Missing Data Utilizing Predictive UFIR Filtering显示文摘A combined algorithm for the loosely fused ultra wide band(UWB)and inertial navigation system(INS)-based measurements is designed under the indoor human navigation conditions with missing data.The scheme proposed fuses the INS-and UWB-derived positions via a data fusion filter.Since the UWB signal is prone to drift in indoor environments and its outage highly affects the integrated scheme reliability,we also consider the missing data problem in UWB measurements.To overcome this problem,the loosely-coupled INS/UWB-integrated scheme is augmented with a prediction option based on the predictive unbiased finite impulse response(UFIR)fusion filter.We show experimentally that,the standard UFIR fusion filter has higher robustness than the Kalman filter.It is also shown that the predictive UFIR fusion filter is able to produce an acceptable navigation accuracy under temporary missing UWB-data.Yuan Xu Choon Ki Ahn Yuriy S. 19Synthesis and performance characterization of Hafnium-based multilayer coating applied over carbon/carbon composites with sharp leading edge显示文摘Carbon/carbon(C/C)composites have been acknowledged as potential candidates in aerospace vehicles,but their oxygen sensitivity still remains an enormous challenge.In this work,a novel multilayer coating consisted of HfC-2.5 mol.%Hf_(6)Ta_(2)O_(17),HfC-40 mol.%SiC,HfC-2.5 mol.%Hf_(6)Ta_(2)O_(17) and HfC-60 mol.%SiC sublayers from surface to inside was designed and fabricated on the surface of C/C composites with sharp leading edge by plasma spraying.Its ablation resistance was assessed using oxyacetylene torch with a maximum temperature over 2300℃ and compared with monolayered coatings.The multilayer coating revealed preferable ablation retardation capacity evidenced by its integrated profile and less flaw quantity.Such benefits were primarily stemmed from the effective structural design and rational material selection.The former was able to reduce the thermal stress within the ablated scale,the latter contributed to rising the high-temperature resistance and oxygen barrier ability of the coating.Guanghui Feng Xiyuan Yao Yulan Yu Hejun Li 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,22:2
20Progress in the research and development of nerve conduits显示文摘The reconstruction after peripheral nerve damage, especially for long‐segment nerve defects, remains a clinical challenge. Autologous nerve graft transplantation is an efficient method for the repair of peripheral nerve defects, but the involved com‐plications and shortcomings have greatly limited the clinical efficacy of treatments offered to patients with nerve defects. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop new therapeutic strategies and explore alternatives to autologous nerve transplantation in clinical practice, based on the knowledge of the peripheral nerve regeneration mechanism and biological histocompatibility principles. With significant advances in the research and application of nerve conduits, they have been used to repair peripheral nerve injury for several decades.
