| 2 | Shake-table testing of a self-centering precast reinforced concrete frame with shear walls显示文摘The seismic performance of a self-centering precast reinforced concrete(RC)frame with shear walls was investigated in this paper.The lateral force resistance was provided by self-centering precast RC shear walls(SPCW),which utilize a combination of unbonded prestressed post-tensioned(PT)tendons and mild steel reinforcing bars for flexural resistance across base joints.The structures concentrated deformations at the bottom joints and the unbonded PT tendons provided the self-centering restoring force.A 1/3-scale model of a five-story self-centering RC frame with shear walls was designed and tested on a shake-table under a series of bi-directional earthquake excitations with increasing intensity.The acceleration response,roof displacement,inter-story drifts,residual drifts,shear force ratios,hysteresis curves,and local behaviour of the test specimen were analysed and evaluated.The results demonstrated that seismic performance of the test specimen was satisfactory in the plane of the shear wall;however,the structure sustained inter-story drift levels up to 2.45%.Negligible residual drifts were recorded after all applied earthquake excitations.Based on the shake-table test results,it is feasible to apply and popularize a self-centering precast RC frame with shear walls as a structural system in seismic regions. | Lu Xilin Yang Boya Zhao Bin | 2018 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2018,17,2: | 9 |
| 3 | Analysis of solid particle clusters in coherent structures of turbulent channel flow显示文摘A particle-laden turbulent channel flow is investigated to study particle clusters in large-scale turbulent coherent structures.The fluid phase is calculated by large eddy simulation and particles are tracked using Lagrangian trajectory method.The flow Reynolds number is 180 based on the friction velocity and half-width of the channel.The particle is lycopodium with St=0.93which may well follow the fluid phase.The mean and fluctuating velocities of both two phases are obtained,which are in good agreement with previous data.The strongest accumulations of particles in low-speed streak structures are observed at y+=11.3.Moreover,once particles are captured in low-speed streaks,most of them will reside there for a long period.Particles clustered in low-speed streaks obtain smaller instantaneous wall-normal and spanwise velocities than those out of there,which induce a larger particle flux into low-speed streaks than that out of there.The study is important for understanding particle dispersion mechanisms in gas-particle turbulent channel flows. | LU Hao WANG Bing ZHANG HuiQiang QIN JianXiu WANG XiLin | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10: | 3 |
| 4 | Recent progress of seismic research on tall buildings in China Mainland显示文摘As a result of rapid economic growth and urbanization in the past two decades,many tall buildings have been constructed in China Mainland,offering researchers and practitioners an excellent opportunity for research and practice in the field of structural engineering. This paper reviews progress by researchers throughout China Mainland on the seismic research of tall buildings,focusing on three major topics that impact the seismic performance of tall buildings. These are:(1) new types of steel-concrete composite structural members such as steel-concrete composite shear walls and columns,(2) earthquake resilient shear wall structures such as shear walls with replaceable structural components,self-centering shear walls and rocking walls,and(3) performance-based seismic design,including seismic performance index,performance level and design method. | 7 | The Prognostic Significance of a Combined Determination of Cathepsin D and Estrogen Receptors in Breast Carcinomas with Positive Axillary Lymph Nodes显示文摘OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation be- tween cathepsin D (Cath-D) and estrogen receptor (ER)expression in breast cancer tissue and to explore the prognostic significance of their combined determination in breast carcinoma patients with positive axillary lymph nodes. METHODS One hundred and thirty-eight cases of breast carcinoma were examined by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and the results relating to patient follow-up analyzed. RESULTS The overall 5 -year disease -free survival rate (DFS) was 60.9% (84/138) in the series. The positive rate of Cath-D expression in the tumor cells was 55.07% and the positive ER staining was 51.4%. A definite significant negative correlation was found between the positive rates for Cath-D and ER (r=-0.294, P=0.001) The Cath-D expression for the cases in clinical Stage II, positive-node and recurrence or distant metastasis, was higher than that those cases in clinical Stage II with fewer node-metastasis and with 5 year DFS (χ2=13.926, P=0.000; χ2= 13.070, P=0.001; χ2=10.545, P=0.001). However, there was no signifi- cant difference of Cath-D expression between 2 groups of patients with different ages or among the different histopathologic types of the non- specific invasive carcinoma. In the combined examination of Cath-D and ER, the cases that were ER (+) and Cath-D (-) had the highest 5-year DFS compared to other situations. In contrast, the cases that were re- versed in expression , ie, ER(-) and Cath-D(+), had a lower 5-year DFS. There was a significant difference between the 2 conditions (χ2=18.675, P=0.000). | 9 | Shake table testing of a multi-tower connected hybrid structure显示文摘Many single-tower reinforced concrete core wall-steel frame (RCC-SF) buildings have been built in China, but there are no buildings of different-height multi-tower hybrid system. A multi-tower RCC-SF tall building was thus studied because of its structural complexity and irregularity. First, a 1/15 scaled model structure was designed and tested on the shake table under minor, moderate, and major earthquake levels. Then, the dynamic responses of the model structure were interpreted to those of the prototype structure according to the similitude theory. Experimental results demonstrate that, despite the complexity of the structure, the lateral deformation bends as the 'bending type' and the RC core walls contribute more than the steel frames to resist seismic loads. The maximum inter-story drift of the complex building under minor earthquakes is slightly beyond the elastic limitation specifi ed in the Chinese code, and meets code requirements under major earthquakes. | 18 | Experimental study on seismic behavior of circular RC columns strengthened with pre-stressed FRP strips显示文摘Bonding fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)has been commonly used to improve the seismic behavior of circular reinforced concrete(RC)columns in engineering practice.However,FRP jackets have a significant stress hysteresis effect in this strengthening method,and pre-tensioning the FRP can overcome this problem.This paper presents test results of25 circular RC columns strengthened with pre-stressed FRP strips under low cyclic loading.The pre-stressing of the FRP strips,types of FRP strips and longitudinal reinforcement,axial load ratio,pre-damage degree and surface treatments of the specimens are considered as the primary factors in the tests.According to the failure modes and hysteresis curves of the specimens,these factors are analyzed to investigate their effect on bearing capacity,ductility,hysteretic behavior,energy dissipation capacity and other important seismic behaviors.The results show that the initial lateral confined stress provided by pre-stressed FRP strips can effectively inhibit the emergence and development of diagonal shear cracks,and change the failure modes of specimens from brittle shear failure to bending or bending-shear failure with better ductility.As a result,the bearing capacity,ductility,energy dissipation capacity and deformation capacity of the strengthened specimens are all significantly improved. | Zhou Changdong Lu Xilin Li Hui Tian Teng | 2013 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2013,12,4: | 1 |
