| 2 | NOD2 3020insC frameshift mutation is not associated with inflammatory bowel disease in Chinese patients of Hart nationality显示文摘AIM: An insertion mutation at nucleotide 3020 (3020insC) in the Caspase recruitment domain gene (CARD15), originally reported as NOD2, is strongly associated with Crohn's disease. The C-insertion mutation at nucleotide 3020 (3020inC) in the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region results in a frameshift in the 10^th LRR followed by a premature stop codon. This truncation mutation is responsible for the inability to activate nuclear factor (NF)-κB in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The present study aimed to genotype NOD2/CARD15 gene 3020insC frameshift mutation in Chinese patients with inflammatory bowel disease. METHODS: We genotyped an insertion polymorphism affecting the leucine-rich region of the protein product by the allele specific PCR in 74 unrelated patients with ulcerative colitis of Han nationality in Hubei Province of China, 15 patients with Crohn's disease and 172 healthy individuals. RESULTS: No significant differences were found in the genotype and allele frequendes of the C-insertion mutation of NOD2 gene among patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and healthy controls. | 3 | PTEN and Ki67 expression is associated with clinicopathologic features of non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10(PTEN) and the proliferating antigen Ki67 have been widely studied in several tumors.However,their role as indicator in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)remains unknown.Here,we investigated the expression of PTEN and Ki67 in NSCLC tissues and paired normal lung tissues to identify whether these proteins are associated with lung cancer development and survival.Immunohistochemistry for PTEN and Ki67 was performed on 67 lung cancer tissues and 41 paired adjacent normal lung tissues to detect the expression of these two proteins.The expression of PTEN in NSCLC tissues(32.8%) was significantly lower than that in normal tissues(82.9%,P < 0.05).In contrast,the expression of Ki67 in NSCLC tissues(76.1%) was significantly higher than that in normal tissues(27.3%,P < 0.05).Expression of both PTEN and Ki67 were strongly associated with tumor histology,clinical stage,lymph node metastasis,differentiation and4-year postoperative survival rate(P < 0.05).However,PTEN expression was negatively correlated with Ki67 expression(r =-0.279,P < 0.05).In conclusion,low PTEN expression and Ki67 overexpression are associated with malignant invasion and lymph node metastasis of NSCLC.These proteins may serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of NSCLC. | Yong Ji Mingfeng Zheng Shugao Ye Jingyu Chen Yijiang Chen | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,6: | 16 |

| 7 | Mechanical properties and failure characteristics of fractured sandstone with grouting and anchorage显示文摘Based on uniaxial compression experimental results on fractured sandstone with grouting and anchorage, we studied the strength and deformation properties, the failure model, crack formation and evolution laws of fractured sandstone under different conditions of anchorage. The experimental results show that the strength and elastic modulus of fractured sandstone with different fracture angles are significantly lower than those of intact sandstone. Compared with the fractured samples without anchorage,the peak strength, residual strength, peak and ultimate axial strain of fractured sandstone under different anchorage increase by 64.5–320.0%, 62.8–493.0%, and 31.6–181.4%, respectively. The number of bolts and degree of pre-stress has certain effects on the peak strength and failure model of fractured sandstone. The peak strength of fractured sandstone under different anchorage increases to some extent, and the failure model of fractured sandstone also transforms from tensile failure to tensile–shear mixed failure with the number of bolts. | 10 | A single institution experience using the LigaSure vessel sealing system in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for primary spontaneous pneumothorax显示文摘This study sought to report our 6-year experience with the LigaSure vessel sealing system(LVSS) in videoassisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) for primary spontaneous pneumothorax.A series of 180 consecutive patients with primary spontaneous pneumothorax were operated on in our institution from May 2005 to December 2010.Intraoperatively,large lesions(bullae or blebs) with a diameter more than 2 cm were resected by staplers,and the residual lesions were treated by LVSS.LVSS was also used to ablate the apical area when no lesions were found.Conventional apical pleural abrasion was done in all cases.All patients were successfully treated using VATS with minimal perioperative bleeding.The mean operating time was 76 minutes(range,43-160 minutes) for single-side procedures and 169 minutes(range,135-195 minutes) for bilateral procedures,the mean number of applied staples was 1.93 per patient(range,0-8 days),the duration of drainage was 3.8 days(range,2-15 days),and the duration of hospital stay was 5.8 days(range,3-16 days).Postoperative complications included persistent air leak(> 5 days) in 11 cases(6.1%) and residual pneumothorax in 6(3.3%).None required reoperation.The mean duration of follow-up was 57 months(range,24-105 months).Recurrence was seen in three cases(1.7%),and all underwent another operation thereafter.None of the lesions in the relapse cases received ablation with LVSS in the first operation.LVSS can optimize VATS for primary spontaneous pneumothorax and reduces the use of single-use staples.The method is safe,easy to use,and cost-effective and produces satisfactory results. | Zhi Li Liang Chen Jun Wang Jianwei Qin Quan Zhu Bin Zhang Yijiang Chen | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,6: | 6 |
| 11 | Diagnosis and surgical treatment of intraveneous leiomyomatosis extending into the heart:two cases report and review of the literature显示文摘Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics,diagnosis and surgical treatment of intravenous leiomyomatosis(IVL),and outline the differences between Chinese and overseas cases.Methods:Clinical data of two IVL cases,treated in our hospital,were analyzed retrospectively and the related literature was also reviewed.The data of preoperative diagnostic rate,surgical procedures,and postoperative recurrence between patients in China and other countries were compared.Results:The first stage operation was performed successfully in 2 patients.However,they refused subsequent therapies,including a second stage operation to excise the remnants of the tumor,uterus,bilateral oviducts and ovaries,and anti-estrogen therapy.Both suffered from IVL recurrence,one at 6-month and the other at 9-month,and died at 16-month and 12-month respectively after the first stage surgery.Worldwide reports of 110 IVL cases were reviewed,which included 28 cases in China and 82 cases in other countries.In the majority of the Chinese patients,tumors only extended into the right atrium rather than the right ventricle(RA 22 cases vs RV 4 cases).However,among the overseas patients,the rate of extension into the right atrium was similar to that of extension into the right ventricle(RA 41 cases vs RV 38 cases).The rate of hysterectomies was not significantly different between Chinese and overseas patients(67.86% vs 55.9%,P=0.278).The rate of correct preoperative diagnosis in the Chinese patients was significantly lower than that in the overseas patients(32.14% vs 80%,P=0.000002),as well as the rate of complete excision of the tumor(22.7% vs 75.5%,P=0.000001).The proportion of patients who undergoing a single-stage or a two-stage operation was similar in Chinese and overseas patients.The recurrence rate was significantly higher in the Chinese patients than in the overseas patients(36.8% vs 9.1%,P=0.0055),and the patients with tumor recurrence were partial tumor excision patients.Conclusion:The possibility of IVL should be considered if echocardiography in female patients demonstrates a tumor in the right heart and a mass in the inferior vena cava(IVC).Further imaging should be performed to confirm the diagnosis.The correct diagnosis and accurate preoperative delineation of tumor extension are essential for an optimal surgical outcome.The key point in IVL treatment is the complete excision of tumors(single-stage or two-stage surgical procedure). | Xiaowei Wang Lin Zhang Yijiang Chen Shijiang Zhang Jianwei Qin Yanhu Wu Jinhua Luo | 2009 | Journal of Nanjing Medical University2009,23,5: | 5 |
| 12 | An analytical study of unsteady heat transfer in the rock surrounding a deep airway显示文摘The heat transfer between an airway and the air flowing though it is an unsteady problem. The governing equation of unsteady heat transfer was solved using the method of separation of variables. The solution is an infinite series including Bessel functions. The theoretical solution was analyzed by solving for the positive roots of the transcendental equation by iteration. The dimensionless surface temperature of the sur- rounding rock is only affected by the Bi number but not by the thermo-physical coefficients of the rock. The dimensionless coefficient of heat transfer, k, decreases with the Fo number similarly to the influence of the Bi number on k. A formula for determining the fully developed stage (FDS) suitable for unsteady heat transfer in the airway is proposed. The FDS from theoretical analysis occurs with Fo from 1.6 to 2. The ratio of excess temperature in the surrounding rock is independent of the initial conditions and only dependent on the Bi number and the relative position in the airway, at the FDS. The calculation error is large when using just the first term from the complete series when Fo is from 2 to 12. Five terms give a solution approximately equal to that found using the complete series. The first term could replace the complete series only when Fo is greater than 12. | 13 | Carbon isotope composition and comparison of Lower Triassic marine carbonate rocks from Southern Longmenxia section in Guang'an, Sichuan Basin显示文摘The Early Triassic was a period of ecological restoration for the earth's system after the end-Permian mass extinction.Geochemical records linked to the variations in marine ecosystems during this period have attracted the interest of geologists for many years.Based on petrographic analysis of samples and evaluations of their reliability as proxies for original seawater,this study investigated the carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions of 350 carbonate rock samples from the Lower Triassic(and adjacent strata)in the southern Longmenxia section of Guang'an,eastern Sichuan Basin.The results indicate that the Triassic carbonate rocks from the southern Longmenxia section favorably preserved the original seawater'sδ^(13)C signal.Furthermore,carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions are found to be poorly correlated,with a determination coefficient as low as 0.0205 and only 44 rock samples show results of Mn/Sr>2 and/orδ^(18)0<-6.5‰.The complete carbon isotopic curve for the Lower Triassic is established using the data from the remaining 306 samples with Mn/Sr<2 and/orδ^(18)O>-6.5‰.This curve presents favorable comparability on a global scale,specifically in theδ^(13)C minima near the Permian-Triassic boundary,at the top of the Jia1 and within the the Jia3,as well as in theδ^(13)C maxima at the tops of the Ye1 and Ye4,at the base of the Jia2 and at the top of the Ye3.The peaks and troughs corresponding to these maxima and minima all reflect global signals.By comparing these results to previous research on coeval carbon isotopic curves established within the chronostratigraphic framework,the ages of these critical evolution points are determined.The results show that the Ye1 roughly corresponds to the Griesbachian substage;the Ye2 through Ye4 correspond to the Dienerian substage;Jial corresponds to the Smithian substage;from the Jia2 to the lower part of the Jia4 correspond to the Spathian substage;and the middle and upper parts of the Jia4 belongs to the Aegean Substage of the Middle Triassic.Around the boundary between the Jial and Jia2(which represents the Smithian-Spathian boundary(SSB)),the value ofδ^(13)C increases rapidly from-0.911‰to 3.679‰.The span during which the seawater's carbon isotope experiences this drastic change may be less than36 kyr.The oxygen isotope,which is more sensitive to sedimentary environmental changes,exhibits changes prior to the carbon isotope near the SSB,indicating a significant increase in the salinity of the seawater before a sharp rise in the carbon isotope;this event leads to the formation of evaporites and dolomites. | HUANG SiJing HUANG KeKe ZHONG YiJiang LI XiaoNing MAO XiaoDong HU ZuoWei LIU SiBing ZHANG Meng WU WenHui | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,1: | 4 |
| 14 | Intervention Effect of Repetitive TMS on Behavioral Adjustment After Error Commission in Long-Term Methamphetamine Addicts: Evidence From a Two-Choice Oddball Task显示文摘Behavioral adjustment plays an important role in the treatment and relapse of drug addiction. Nonetheless,few studies have examined behavioral adjustment and its plasticity following error commission in methamphetamine(METH) dependence, which is detrimental to human health. Thus, we investigated the behavioral adjustment performance following error commission in long-term METH addicts and how it varied with the application of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(r TMS) of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC). Twenty-nine male long-term METH addicts(for [ 3 years) were randomly assigned to high-frequency(10 Hz, n = 15) or sham(n = 14) r TMS of the left DLPFC during a two-choice oddball task. Twenty-six age-matched, healthy male adults participated in the two-choice oddball task pretest to establish normal performance for comparison. The results showed that 10 Hz r TMS over the left DLPFC significantly decreased the post-error slowing effect in response times of METH addicts. In addition, the 10 Hz r TMS intervention remarkably reduced the reaction times during post-error trials but not post-correct trials. While the 10 Hz r TMS group showed a more pronounced post-error slowing effect than the healthy participants during the pretest, the posterror slowing effect in the posttest of this sample was similar to that in the healthy participants. | 19 | TLR2 was overexpressed independent of IL-6 in patients with valvular atrial fibrillation显示文摘Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) has recently been shown to be up-regulated in patients with non-valvular atrial fi-brillation (AF). The present study was aimed to determine whether the pathogenesis and development of AF is associated with the up-regulation of TLR2. Clinical data and right atrial appendage (RAA) specimens were col-lected from 20 patients with persisten AF (PeAF), 15 patients with paroxysmal AF (PaAF) and 13 patients with no history of AF undergoing valvular replacement. The results showed that gene expression and protein content of TLR2 were increased in both the AF subgroups, compared with the sinus rhythm (SR) group. Between the two AF subgroups, PaAF had a higher TLR2 level than PeAF. However, no difference in interluekin (IL)-6 content was found among the three groups, and no correlation was found between TLR2 and IL-6 in PeAF patients (r = 0.090, P = 0.706), PaAF patients (r = 0.408, P = 0.131) and AF patients (r = -0.301, P = 0.079). Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that TLR2 was distributed in RAAs of AF patients and confirmed the immunoblotting results. | 20 | Saddle-Dolomite-Bearing Fracture Fillings and Records of Hot Brine Activity in the Jialingjiang Formation,Libixia Section,Hechuan Area of Chongqing City显示文摘Most vein minerals deposited in fractures of the Jialingjiang Formation from Libixia section,Hechan area include a large amount of saddle dolomite and accompanying celestite,calcite and fluorite.This study analyzed the nature,source,evolution of the fluids by plane-light petrography,fluid-inclusion methods,cathodoluminescence images,and stable isotopic compositions.The homogenization temperatures of two-phase aqueous fluid inclusions in dolomite range between100 and 270℃.Combined with theδ^(18)O data,it is suggested that the fluid responsible for the precipitation of fracture fillings haveδ^(18)O values between 10‰and 18‰(relative to SMOW).The saddle dolomite and the accompanying minerals were the result of activity of dense brines at elevated temperatures.Moreover,analysis shows that the fluid was derived from a mixture of marine-derived brine and deeper circulating flow.This fluid was enriched in Sr during diagenesis and formed celestite in fracture and for regional mineralization.Dissolution of saddle dolomite was attributed to the cooling of Mg/Ca-decreased fluids,which may relate to a leaching of gypsum to celestite in surrounding carbonates. | HUANG Keke ZHONG Yijiang HUANG Sijing LI Xiaoning FENG Mingshi | 2016 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2016,90,1: | 2 |
