| 1 | BOTTOM SHEAR STRESS UNDER WAVE-CURRENT INTERACTION显示文摘The present work adopts the COHERENS-SWAN model developed by the first author through coupling three-dimensional hydrodynamic model (COHERENS) and third-generation wave model (SWAN). Inside the COHERENS-SWAN, the SWAN is regarded as a subroutine and the time- and space-varying current velocity and surface elevation are obtained from the COHERENS. Wave-enhanced bottom shear stress, wave induced surface mixing length and wave dependent surface drag coefficient have been introduced into the COHERENS. Secondly, as wave-enhanced bottom shear stress ('bottom shear stress' described as BSS sometimes in this article) is concerned, a modified bottom shear stress Grant and Madsen model which introduces random wave field is given and introduced to COHERENS-SWAN. COHERENS-SWAN is also adopted to simulate three-dimensional flow in the Yellow River Delta with wave-current co-existing. Four numerical experiments were given to study the effects of wave-current interaction on enhancing bottom shear stress. The simulated current velocities, wave height and wave period match well with field measurement data. The simulated significant wave height and wave period for the case with considering the effects of current can give better agreement with measurement data than the case without involving the effects of current. The introduction of random wave generates lower the bottom shear stress than the case without introducing it. There are obvious differences between bottom shear stress of two way interaction and one way interaction. | 2 | Simulating a typhoon storm surge in the East Sea of China using a coupled model显示文摘A coupled numerical model with a 20 20 resolution grid has been developed and used to simulate five typical typhoon storm surges(5612,7413,7910,8114,and 9711) in the East Sea of China.Three main driving forces have been considered in this coupled model:wave radiation stress,combined wave-current bottom shear stress and wave-state-dependent surface wind stress.This model has then been compared with in situ measurements of the storm set-up.The effect of different driving force components on the total storm surge has also been investigated.This study has found that the coupled model with high resolution is capable of simulating the five typical typhoons better than the uncoupled models,and that the wave-dependent surface wind stress plays an important role in typhoon storm surge-wave coupling in this area and can increase the storm set-up by 1 m.The study of the five typhoon cases has shown that the general coupling effects could increase storm set-up by 20-32%.Thus,it is suggested that to predict typhoon storm surges in the East Sea of China,a storm surge-wave coupled model be adopted. | Baoshu Yin Zhenhua Xu Yong Huang Xiang Lin | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,1: | 11 |

| 5 | STUDY OF IMPACT OF ESTABLISHMENT OF A DAM ON LOCAL TIDAL CURRENTS IN KENDONG OIL FIELD显示文摘In this paper a threedimensional tidal current model has been used to examine variations of local fluid field due to establishment of a dam. By imputing ten tidesK 1, O 1, P 1, Q 1, M 2, S 2, N 2, K 2, S a and S sathrough the open boundary of the Bohai strait and adopting 5′×5′ horizontal resolution the whole fluid field of the Bohai Sea was first simulated. The computed harmonic constants of m 1and M 2tides at seventeen observational stations along the coast of the Bohai Sea matched the observed values rather well. Taking the calculated numerical results as open boundary conditions, the local fluid field in the Kendong Oil Field by means of 1′×1′ horizontal resolution was then investigated. In the course of calculation, fine grids were embedded in coarse grids so as to enhance the computational order. In addition, the latest waterdepth data of the Huanghe Delta coast area were adopted, thus topographic changes because of silt sediment in that region wouldn’t affect the computed results. | 7 | NET IMPACT OF PHYSICAL INTERACTION MECHANISMS IN A COUPLED WAVE-TIDE-SURGE MODEL显示文摘The focus of this study is a coastal high-resolution (2′×2′) two-way coupled wave-tide-surge interaction model, including three main physical mechanisms. Comparisons and analysis of simulated and measured wave heights and sea level considered two moderate storm cases for the Huanghe Delta coastal area. The effects of different physical mechanisms on wave heights are mainly influenced by wave-current interaction, including radiation stress. Wave-age dependent surface wind stress and radiation stress mechanisms in the coupling wave-tide-surge interaction model show positive impact on sea level, and the wave-current interaction bottom stress mechanism shows negative impact on seal level. The comprehensive effects of the three main physical mechanisms show positive net impact on seal level and increase sea level by around 20cm for the storms considered. | 8 | Numerical Simulation of Wave-Induced Currents Combined with Parabolic Mild-Slope Equation in Curvilinear Coordinates显示文摘Researches on breaking-induced currents by waves are summarized firstly in this paper. Then, a combined numerical model in orthogonal curvilinear coordinates is presented to simulate wave-induced current in areas with curved boundary or irregular coastline. The proposed wave-induced current model includes a nearshore current module established through orthogonal curvilinear transformation form of shallow water equations and a wave module based on the curvilinear parabolic approximation wave equation. The wave module actually serves as the driving force to provide the current module with required radiation stresses. The Crank-Nicolson finite difference scheme and the alternating directions implicit method are used to solve the wave and current module, respectively. The established surf zone currents model is validated by two numerical experiments about longshore currents and rip currents in basins with rip channel and breakwater. The quantitative relationships between the calculated backscattering cross-section and the environmental parameters, such as wind speeds, azimuthal angles and incidence angles, were studied. Compared with the traditional two-scale scattering model, the results are much more coincident with the observations under the condition of moderate incidence angles, which is very useful to make up for the two-scale model.
