| 3 | Prognostic models for acute liver failure显示文摘BACKGROUND:Acute liver failure (ALF) remains a dramatic and unpredictable disease with high morbidity and mortality. Early and accurate prognostic assessment of patients with ALF is critically important for optimum clinical pathway. DATA SOURCES:Five English-language medical databases,MEDLINE,ScienceDirect,OVID,Springer Link and Wiley Interscience were searched for articles on 'acute liver failure',' prognosis',and related topics. RESULTS:Multi-variable prognostic models including the King’s College Hospital criteria and the model for end-stage liver disease score have been widely used in determination of the prognosis of ALF,but the results are far from satisfactory. Other prognostic indicators including serum Gc-globulin,arterial blood lactate,serum phosphate,arterial blood ammonia,and serum alpha-fetoprotein are promising but await further assessement. CONCLUSIONS:A reliable prognostic model to be developed in the future should not only have predictive value for poor outcome but also help to predict the survival of patients without a liver transplantation. | 4 | Prevalence of asthenopia and its risk factors in Chinese college students显示文摘AIM:To determine the prevalence of asthenopia and identify any associated risk factors in the college students in Xi'an,China. METHODS:From April to September 2012,1 500 students from five universities in Xi'an were selected according to a multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method.Data on demographic features,lifestyle or dietary habits,health status,living environment conditions,sleep and mental status,and asthenopia symptoms were collected through a self-administered validated questionnaire.Univariate logistic regression and multivariate logistic regression analysis modified by the factor analysis were performed to evaluate risk factors for asthenopia.RESULTS:Fifty-seven percent of the college students complained of asthenopia.Statistically significant risk factors for asthenopia in the univariate analysis included 13 variables.Multivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between the use of computer and asthenopia(OR 1.21,95% CI:1.09 to 1.35).Good sleep and mental status(OR 0.86,95% CI:0.76 to 0.97),good living environment conditions(OR 0.67,95% CI:0.60 to 0.76),and high intake of green leafy vegetables(OR 0.89,95% CI:0.80 to 0.98) were found to be strong predictors of decreasing the occurrence of asthenopia complaints.CONCLUSION:Asthenopia symptom appeares to be common among college students;and it is strongly associated with computer use,psychosocial state,environment conditions and dietary habits,suggesting that additional studies are warranted to verify these risk factors and establish prevention guidelines,especially for college students. | Cheng-Cheng Han Rong Liu Ru-Ru Liu Zhong-Hai Zhu Rong-Bin Yu Le Ma | 2013 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013，6，5： | 12 |

| 18 | Role of microglial cells in photoreceptor degeneration显示文摘Inherited photoreceptor degeneration in humans constitutes a major cause of irreversible blindness in the world.They comprise various diseases,but retinitis pigmentosa is the most frequently observed.Retinitis pigmentosa is commonly limited to the eye,where there is progressive photoreceptor degeneration,rods and secondarily cones.The mechanisms of cone and rod degeneration continue to be investigated,since most of the mutations causing retinitis pigmentosa affect rods and thus,the secondary death of cones is an intriguing question but,ultimately,the cause of blindness.Understanding the mechanisms of rod and cone degeneration could help us to develop therapies to stop or,at least,slow down the degeneration process.Secondary cone degeneration has been attributed to the trophic dependence between rods and cones,but microglial cell activation could also have a role.In this review,based on previous work carried out in our laboratory in early stages of photoreceptor degeneration in two animal models of retinitis pigmentosa,we show that microglial cell activation is observed prior to the the initiation of photoreceptor death.We also show that there is an increase of the retinal microglial cell densities and invasion of the outer retinal layers by microglial cells.The inhibition of the microglial cells improves photoreceptor survival and morphology,documenting a role for microglial cells in photoreceptor degeneration.Furthermore,these results indicate that the modulation of microglial cell reactivity can be used to prevent or diminish photoreceptor death in inherited photoreceptor degenerations. | Johnny Di Pierdomenico Diego García-Ayuso Marta Agudo-Barriuso Manuel Vidal-Sanz María Paz Villegas-Pérez | 2019 | Neural Regeneration Research2019，14，7： | 4 |
