1Removal of Ni and Cd Ions from Aqueous Solution Using Iron Dust-zeolite Composite: Analysis by Thermodynamic, Kinetic and Isotherm Studies显示文摘To examine the effectiveness of iron dust-zeolite composite as an adsorbent for the removal of heavymetal ions from aqueous solutions, the adsorption isotherms, the kinetic, thermodynamic and optimum conditions,such as initial concentration, pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and competitive adsorption conditions of heavymetals were investigated. The characterization of the composite was characterized via FTIR, SEM, XRF and XRDmethods. Kinetic results on the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions have been well described by thepseudo-second-order model. The adsorption data for Cd and Ni ions were fitted well with the Langmuir and Fretm-dlich isotherm models, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities of iron dust-zeolite for Cd and Ni ions wereequal to 78.125 and 76.33 mg/g, respectively. The thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy, entropy and freeenergy of adsorption of metal ions were determined. It was found that the process is endothermic, favorable andspontaneous. 2Molecular Simulation of Competitive Adsorption on Fe(110)Between Gasoline Detergent and Deposit:I.Physical Adsorption显示文摘Using molecular dynamics simulations based on classical mechanic method, the mechanism of competitive adsorption between gasoline detergent and deposit on Fe(110) surface was investigated. The representative simulation relating to the deposit molecule and the gasoline detergent molecule with high market share were selected as the model compound. It was found that when the detergent and deposit molecules exist at the same time, the detergent molecules would compete with the deposit molecules to reduce the adsorption of the deposit on Fe(110) so as to protect the metal surface. In addition, the ESP distribution is further confirmed that the detergent molecule has higher adsorption ability than the deposit molecule with the DFT theory. 3A one-dimensional transport model for multi-component solute in saturated soil显示文摘A modified multi-component solute diffusion equation described with diffusion flux was derived in detail based on the classical MaxwellStefan diffusion theory. The friction between the solute species and the soil skeleton wall, which is proportional to the relative velocity between the solute species and the soil skeleton, is introduced. The chemical potential gradient is considered the driving force. A one-dimensional model for transport of multi-component solute in saturated soil was developed based on the modified diffusion equation and the modified competitive Langmuir adsorption equation. Numerical calculation of a case of two heavy metal ion species, which was chosen as an example, was carried out using the finite element software COMSOL Multiphysics. A comparative analysis was performed between the multi-component solute transport model developed in this study and the convection-diffusion transport model of single-component solute based on Fick's law. Simulation results show that the transport behavior of each species in a multi-component solute system is different from that in a single-component system, and the friction characteristics considered in the developed model contribute to obstructing the movement of each solute component. At the same time,the influence of modified competitive Langmuir adsorption on solute transport was investigated. 4Competitive and synergistic adsorption of binary volatile organic compound mixtures on activated carbon显示文摘The adsorption of four substances and their binary mixture is investigated via the terahertz time domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS). The selected unary compound(ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, and n-propyl acetate) and binary mixture(solution 1 is composed of ethanol and acetone, and solution 2 is composed of ethyl acetate and n-propyl acetate) exhibit different adsorption behaviors with varied polarities. In comparison with single component, solution 1 shows shorter adsorption equilibrium time, faster adsorption rate, and stronger adsorption capacity, which conform to a synergistic adsorption mechanism, while the competitive behavior is attributed to the slower adsorption in solution 2. In addition, the pseudo-second-order equation with terahertz parameter is used to assess the rate of binary component organics.
