Crashworthiness Analysis on Alternative Square Honeycomb Structure under Axial Loading显示文摘Hexagonal metal honeycomb is widely used in energy absorption field for its special construction. However, many other metal honeycomb structures also show good energy absorption characteristics. Currently, most of the researches focus on hexagonal honeycomb, while few are performed into different honeycomb structures. Therefore, a new alternative square honeycomb is developed to expand the non-hexagonal metal honeycomb applications in the energy absorption fields with the aim of designing low mass and low volume energy absorbers. The finite element model of alternative square honeycomb is built to analyze its specific energy absorption property. As the diversity of honeycomb structure, the parameterized metal honeycomb finite element analysis program is conducted based on PCL language. That program can automatically create finite element model. Numerical results show that with the same foil thickness and cell length of metal honeycomb, the alternative square has better specific energy absorption than hexagonal honeycomb. Using response surface method, the mathematical formulas of honeycomb crashworthiness properties are obtained and optimization is done to get the maximum specific energy absorption property honeycomb. Optimal results demonstrate that to absorb same energy, alternative square honeycomb can save 10% volume of buffer structure than hexagonal honeycomb can do. This research is significant in providing technical support in the extended application of different honeycomb used as crashworthiness structures, and is absolutely essential in low volume and low mass energy absorber design. | LI Meng DENG Zongquan GUO Hongwei LIU Rongqiang DING Beichen | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2013,26,4: | 5
Enhanced removal of nitrate and phosphate from wastewater by Chlorella vulgaris: Multi-objective optimization and CFD simulation显示文摘To enhance the efficiency of wastewater biotreatment with microalgae, the effects of physical parameters need to be investigated and optimized. In this regard, the individual and interactive effects of temperature, p H and aeration rate on the performance of biological removal of nitrate and phosphate by Chlorella vulgaris were studied by response surface methodology(RSM). Furthermore, a multi-objective optimization technique was applied to the response equations to simultaneously find optimal combinations of input parameters capable of removing the highest possible amount of nitrate and phosphate. The optimal calculated values were temperature of 26.3 °C, pH of 8 and aeration rate of 4.7 L·min^(-1). Interestingly, under the optimum condition, approximately 85% of total nitrate and 77% of whole phosphate were removed after 48 h and 24 h, respectively, which were in excellent agreement with the predicted values. Finally, the effect of baffle on mixing performance and, as a result, on bioremoval efficiency was investigated in Stirred Tank Photobioreactor(STP) by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD). Flow behavior indicated substantial enhancement in mixing performance when the baffle was inserted into the tank. Obtained simulation results were validated experimentally. Under the optimum condition, due to proper mixing in baffled STP, nitrate and phosphate removal increased up to 93% and 86%,respectively, compared to unbaffled one. | Mohammad Bagher Sabeti Mohammad Amin Hejazi Afzal Karimi | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,3: | 4
Extraction of seed oil from Diospyros lotus optimized using response surface methodology显示文摘Oil from seeds of Diospyros lotus was extracted using a conventional method with two different solvents:hexane and petroleum ether. A central composite design with response surface methodology were used to optimize the process. A second-order polynomial equation was employed, and ANOVA was applied to evaluate the impact of various operating parameters including extraction temperature(x_1; 44.9–70.1 °C), extraction time(x_2;5.0–10.0 h) and solvent to solid ratio(x_3;11.6–28.4 mL g^(-1)), on oil yield. Experiments to validate the model showed decent conformity between predicted and actual values. Extraction conditions for optimal oil yield were 61 °C, 8.75 h extraction duration and 19.25 mL g^(-1) solvent to solid ratio. Under these conditions, the oil yield was predicted to be 5.1340%. Oil samples obtained were then analyzed using gas chromatography. The fatty acid composition revealed the major fatty acids to be oleic acid(C18:1) and linoleic acid(C18:2). The analysis of oil also demonstrated a decent ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The structure of seeds was imaged using scanning electron microscopy. Oil quality was analyzed thermogravimetrically and by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The assigned nutritional features of the D. lotus oil suggested that it can be used as an edible oil in pharmaceutical and food industry in the future. | Gholamhossein Sodeifian Nedasadat Saadati Ardestani Seyed Ali Sajadian | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,2: | 4
Optimizing the micro-arc oxidation (MAO) parameters to attain coatings with minimum porosity and maximum hardness on the friction stir welded AA6061 aluminium alloy welds显示文摘Micro-arc oxidation(MAO) technique is capable of producing dense oxide films on the aluminium alloy surface. This oxide film protects the aluminium alloy from the corrosion attack for longer duration.Empirical relationships were derived to evaluate the MAO coating properties(porosity and hardness) by incorporating very important MAO parameters(current density, inter-electrode distance and oxidation time). MAO parameters were also optimized to achieve coatings with minimum porosity and maximum hardness. Further, the effect of MAO parameters on coating characteristics was analysed. From the results, it is found that the current density has greater influence on the responses than the other two parameters. | R. Kamal Jayaraj S. Malarvizhi V. | 11 | Formulation optimization of scutellarin-loaded HP-β-CD/chitosan nanoparticles using response surface methodology with Box–Behnken design显示文摘The aim of this paper is to investigate and optimize the preparation of scutellarin(SCU)-loaded HP-β-CD/chitosan(CS) nanoparticles(CD/CS-SCU-NPs). CD/CS-SCU-NPs were prepared by ionic cross-linking method and the process and formulation variables were optimized using response surface methodology(RSM) with a three-level, three factor Box–Behnken design(BBD).The independent variables were the added amounts of CS, sodium tripolyphosphate(TPP)and Pluronic F-68 during the preparation. Dependent variables(responses) were particle size and entrapment efficiency. Mathematical equations and respond surface plots were used to correlate independent and dependent variables. The preparation process and formulation variables were optimized to achieve minimum particle size and maximum entrapment efficiency by calculating the overall desirability value(OD). The optimized NP formulation was characterized for particle size, PDI, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency and in vitro drug release.According to the results, an optimized CD/CS-SCU-NP formulation was prepared. Results for particle size, PDI, zeta potential and entrapment efficiency were found to be around 200 nm,0.5, 25 mV, and 70% respectively. For in vitro study, the release of SCU from the NPs exhibited a biphasic release and was in accordance with Higuchi equation. The optimized preparation was simple with the probability for industrialization. The combination use of RSM, BBD and overall desirability values could provide a promising application for incorporating CD into CS nanoparticles as drug delivery carrier and help develop lab-scale procedures. | Shanshan Liu Paul C.Ho | 2017 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2017,12,4: | 4

The optimal parameters for polyphenol extraction were the ethanol concentration of 52.67%, ultrasonic temperature at 49.21 ℃and ultrasonic time of 30.76 min. Under these conditions, the actual content of polyphenols was close to the predicted value. Therefore, the process can be used to extract polyphenols from black pine needles. | Xuqin REN Yingchun ZHANG Lirong WANG Xiaofang YANG Ting JI Zhengqian LIANG Lihui WANG | 2019 | Agricultural Biotechnology2019,8,2: | 3 |
Optimization of Processing Parameters of Power Spinning for Bushing Based on Neural Network and Genetic Algorithms显示文摘A neural network model of key process parameters and forming quality is developed based on training samples which are obtained from the orthogonal experiment and the finite element numerical simulation. Optimization of the process parameters is conducted using the genetic algorithm (GA). The experimental results have shown that a surface model of the neural network can describe the nonlinear implicit relationship between the parameters of the power spinning process:the wall margin and amount of expansion. It has been found that the process of determining spinning technological parameters can be accelerated using the optimization method developed based on the BP neural network and the genetic algorithm used for the process parameters of power spinning formation. It is undoubtedly beneficial towards engineering applications. | Junsheng Zhao Yuantong Gu Zhigang Feng | 2019 | Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology2019,28,3: | 3
Optimization of Hydrolysis Conditions for the Isolation of Angiotensin-I Converting Enzyme(ACE) Inhibitory Peptides from Rhopilema hispidum显示文摘To obtain the maximum angiotensin-I converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activity, the protein hydrolysis conditions of the jellyfish Rhopilema hispidum were optimized using response surface methodology(RSM). Trypsin was selected to produce R. hispidum protein hydrolysates(RPH) with ACE inhibitory activity. The optimal parameters for producing protein hydrolysates with the highest ACE inhibitory activity were as follows: hydrolysis time 5 h, hydrolysis temperature 50℃, and the enzyme-to-substrate ratio 6%. Under these conditions, the ACE inhibitory rate of RPH could reach 64.28% ± 5.72%. In addition, RPH contained high levels of Gly, Glu, Pro, Ala, Asp and Arg, with a molecular weight distribution range of 0.32–6.84 kDa. The following three novel ACE inhibitory peptides were isolated and identified: Ile-Gly-Glu-Thr-Gly-Pro, Gly-Ala-Thr-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-Tyr-Val and Gly-AlaPhe-Gly-Pro-Gly-Gly-Leu-Val-Gly-Arg-Pro. The IC_(50) values of the ACE inhibitory activity of these three purified peptides were 19.07, 27.42 and 31.26 μmol L^(-1), respectively. These results suggested that proteins and peptides isolated from R. hispidum could be utilized as antihypertensive functional food sources. | SUN Zhenliang QIN Huanlong CAO Duo YAN Xuebing LI Hao HUANG Linsheng QU Xiao KONG Cheng WANG Man | 2018 | Journal of Ocean University of China2018,17,6: | 2
Synthesis and Optimization of TiO_2/Graphene with Exposed {001} Facets Based on Response Surface Methodology and Evaluation of Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity显示文摘Response surface methodology(RSM) was employed to optimize the control parameters of TiO_2/graphene with exposed {001} facets during synthesis, and its enhanced photocatalytic activities were evaluated in the photodegradation of toluene. Experimental results were in good agreement with the predicted results obtained using RSM with a correlation coefficient(R^2) of 0.9345. When 22.06 mg of graphite oxide(GO) and 2.09 mL of hydrofluoric acid(HF) were added and a hydrothermal time of 28 h was used, a maximum efficiency in the degradation of toluene was achieved. X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) were employed to characterize the obtained hybrid photocatalyst. The electron transferred between Ti and C retarded the combination of electron–hole pairs and hastened the transferring of electrons, which enhanced the photocatalytic activity. | Yifei Wang Zhiyang Zhang Qianqian Shang Xin Tan Hongmei Wang | 2018 | Transactions of Tianjin University2018,24,5: | 2
