It wasfound that the shock wave crystallization is very perfect, the fraction crystallized isvery close to 100%, though the period of crystallization is very short, only about10-4-10-6 s. Their produced phases differ from the parent phase in structure andcomposition. | 5 | THE IMPROVEMENT OF ELECTRON FIELD EMISSION FROM AMORPHOUS CARBON FILMS DUE TO HYDROGEN PLASMA CHEMICAL ANNEALING EFFECT显示文摘Hydrogenated amorphous carbon films were fabricated by using layer-by-layer deposition method and hydrogen dilution method in a small d.c.-assisted plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system. It was found that the hydrogen plasma treatment could change the sp2/sp3 ratio to some extent by chemical etching. The improvements of field emission characteristics were observed compared with that from conventionally deposited a-C films, which can be attributed to the large field enhancement effect due to the inhomogeneous distribution of nanometer scale sp2 clusters and the reduction of the surface emission barrier due to the hydrogen termination. | J. | 8 | Machine-learned interatomic potentials by active learning:amorphous and liquid hafnium dioxide显示文摘We propose an active learning scheme for automatically sampling a minimum number of uncorrelated configurations for fitting the Gaussian Approximation Potential(GAP).Our active learning scheme consists of an unsupervised machine learning(ML)scheme coupled with a Bayesian optimization technique that evaluates the GAP model.We apply this scheme to a Hafnium dioxide(HfO2)dataset generated from a“melt-quench”ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)protocol.Our results show that the active learning scheme,with no prior knowledge of the dataset,is able to extract a configuration that reaches the required energy fit tolerance.Further,molecular dynamics(MD)simulations performed using this active learned GAP model on 6144 atom systems of amorphous and liquid state elucidate the structural properties of HfO2 with near ab initio precision and quench rates(i.e.,1.0 K/ps)not accessible via AIMD.The melt and amorphous X-ray structural factors generated from our simulation are in good agreement with experiment.In addition,the calculated diffusion constants are in good agreement with previous ab initio studies. | Ganesh Sivaraman Anand Narayanan Krishnamoorthy Matthias Baur Christian Holm Marius Stan Gábor Csányi Chris Benmore Álvaro Vázquez-Mayagoitia | 2020 | npj Computational Materials2020,,1: | 10 |

Though there are many coating materials available to combat erosionecorrosion damage in the above components, iron based amorphous coatings are considered to be more effective to combat erosionecorrosion problems. High velocity oxy-fuel(HVOF)spray process is considered to be a better process to coat the iron based amorphous powders. In this investigation, iron based amorphous metallic coating was developed on 316 stainless steel substrate using HVOF spray technique. Empirical relationships were developed to predict the porosity and micro hardness of iron based amorphous coating incorporating HVOF spray parameters such as oxygen flow rate, fuel flow rate, powder feed rate, carrier gas flow rate, and spray distance. | 11 | Formation and corrosion behavior of Fe-based amorphous metallic coatings prepared by detonation gun spraying显示文摘Amorphous metallic coatings with a composition of Fe48Cr15Mo14C15B6Y2 were prepared by detonation gun spraying process. Microstructural studies show that the coatings present a densely layered structure typical of thermally sprayed deposits with the porosity below 2%. Both crystallization and oxidation occurred obviously during spraying process, so that the amorphous fraction of the coatings decreased to 54% compared with fully amorphous alloy ribbons of the same component. Corrosion behavior of the amorphous coatings was investigated by electrochemical measurement. | 12 | Boosting electrocatalytic water splitting via metal-metalloid combined modulation in quaternary Ni-Fe-P-B amorphous compound显示文摘Design and synthesis of highly efficient and cost-effective bifunctional catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)remain a big challenge.Herein,a quaternary amorphous nanocompound Ni-Fe-P-B has been synthesized by a facile,scalable co-reduction method.The Ni-Fe-P-B exhibits high electrocatalytic activity and outstanding durability for both HER and OER,delivering a current density of 10 mA·cm^-2 at overpotentials of 220 and 269 mV,respectively.When loaded on carbon fiber paper(CFP)as a bifunctional catalyst,the Ni-Fe-P-B@CFP electrode requires a low cell voltage of 1.58 V to obtain 10 mA·cm^-2 for overall water splitting with negligible recession over 60 h.The excellent catalytic performances of Ni-Fe-P-B mainly benefit from the metal-metalloid combined composition modulation and the unique amorphous structure.This work provides new insights into the design of robust bifunctional catalysts for water splitting,and may promote the development of multicomponent amorphous catalysts. | Wukui Tang Xiaofang Liu Ya Li Yanhui Pu Yao Lu Zhiming Song Qiang Wang Ronghai Yu Jianglan Shui | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,2: | 8 |

The results showed that crystallization occurred even below the crystallization temperature Tx in a low cycle time. Cracks appearred before or after crystallization of the heated area in the sample. The crystallization degree increased with the heating temperature and cycles. An increase in the fatigue cracks number was also observed. | 16 | Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Fe-based Amorphous Composite Coatings Reinforced by Stainless Steel Powders显示文摘In this study,a few Fe-based amorphous matrix composite coatings reinforced with various portions(4,8 and16 vol.%) of 31 6L stainless steel powders have been successfully produced through high velocity oxy-fuel(HVOF) spraying.The microstructure of the composite coatings was systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The main structure of composite coatings remained amorphous while 31 6L stainless steel splats were distributed homogeneously in the amorphous matrix and well connected with surrounding amorphous phase.Bonding strength of coatings to the substrate was determined by 'pull-off' tensile tests.The results revealed that the31 6L stainless steel phase effectively improved the bonding strength of amorphous coatings,which is mainly contributed by the strong metallurgical bonding between stainless steel and amorphous splats.The addition of31 6L stainless steel also enhanced the ductility and fracture resistance of the coatings due to the ductile stainless steel phases,which can arrest crack propagation and increase energy dissipation. | H.Zhou C.Zhang W.Wang M.Yasir L.Liu | 2015 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,1: | 7 |
| 17 | The relationship between viscosity and glass forming ability of Al-(Ni)-Yb alloy systems显示文摘The dynamic viscosity of Al-Yb and Al-Ni-Yb superheated melts was measured using a torsional oscillation viscometer. The results show that the temperature dependence of viscosity fits the Arrhenius law well and the fitting factors are calculated. The amorphous ribbons of these alloys were produced by the melt spinning technique and the thermal properties were characterized by using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). E (the activation energy for viscous flow), which reflects the change rate of viscosity, has a good negative relation with the GFA in both Al-Yb and Al-Ni-Yb systems. However, there is no direct relation between liquidus viscosity (ηL) and GFA. | 18 | Full-space Cloud of Random Points with a Scrambling Metasurface显示文摘With the rapid progress in computer science,including artificial intelligence,big data and cloud computing,full-space spot generation can be pivotal to many practical applications,such as facial recognition,motion detection,augmented reality,etc.These opportunities may be achieved by using diffractive optical elements(DOEs)or light detection and ranging(LIDAR).However,DOEs suffer from intrinsic limitations,such as demanding depth-controlled fabrication techniques,large thicknesses(more than the wavelength),Lambertian operation only in half space,etc.LIDAR nevertheless relies on complex and bulky scanning systems,which hinders the miniaturization of the spot generator.Here,inspired by a Lambertian scatterer,we report a Hermitian-conjugate metasurface scrambling the incident light to a cloud of random points in full space with compressed information density,functioning in both transmission and reflection spaces.Over 4044 random spots are experimentally observed in the entire space,covering angles at nearly 90°.Our scrambling metasurface is made of amorphous silicon with a uniform subwavelength height,a nearly continuous phase coverage,a lightweight,flexible design,and low-heat dissipation.Thus,it may be mass produced by and integrated into existing semiconductor foundry designs.Our work opens important directions for emerging 3D recognition sensors,such as motion sensing,facial recognition,and other applications. | Zile Li Qi Dai Muhammad Q.Mehmood Guangwei Hu Boris Luk’yanchuk Jin Tao Chenglong Hao Inki Kim Heonyeong Jeong Guoxing Zheng Shaohua Yu Andrea Alù Junsuk Rho Cheng-Wei Qiu | 2018 | Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1: | 6 |
| 19 | Formation and thermal stability of amorphous Ni-Mo-P alloys显示文摘The experimental researches on the chemical deposition of Ni-Mo-P amorphous alloys were carried out by adding Na2 MoO4 into acidic solutions. The optimum technology conditions were obtained by orthogonal design experiments. The structures and the relationship between compositions and their thermal stability were studied by energy spectrum (EC), scanning electron micrograph and X-ray diffraction spectrum. Compared with Ni-P amorphous alloys, the Ni-Mo-P amorphous alloys have high crystallization temperature and thermal stability, and the hardness reaches its peak when the annealing temperature is 500 ℃. | 20 | Photocatalytic Oxidative Desulfurization of Dibenzothiophene on TiO2 Modified Bimodal Mesoporous Silica显示文摘By using the bimodal mesoporous silica(BMMS) as the carrier and butyl titanate as the titanium source, the TiO_2/BMMS catalyst was prepared. The samples were characterized by XRD, XRF, N_2 adsorption and desorption, FTIR, UVvis,SEM, EDS, and TEM techniques. The test results showed that TiO_2 was amorphous, the TiO_2/BMMS catalyst had an ordered bimodal mesoporous structure, and the chemical interaction existed between BMMS and TiO_2. Since the TiO_2/BMMS had a lower band gap, its photocatalytic activity was better than TiO_2. Under UV irradiation a one-pot PODS system was set up, using TiO_2/BMMS as the catalyst, H_2O_2 as the oxidant, and methanol as the solvent. The TiO_2/BMMS catalyst showed better photocatalytic activity than the mono-modal mesoporous TiO_2/SBA-15 catalyst, and the desulfurization rate of dibenzothiophene(DBT) over TiO_2/BMMS catalyst could reach 99._2%.
