Constructal entransy dissipation rate and flow-resistance minimizations for cooling channels显示文摘Based on constructal theory,a construct of a volume that generates heat at every point and is cooled by the coolant in the constant or tapered channel is optimized by minimizing entransy dissipation rate and flow resistance. The optimal constructs of the rectangular elements with dimensionless mean thermal resistance minimization as well as the first-,secondand thirdorder assemblies with dimensionless global flow resistance minimizations are obtained respectively. The results show that both the mean temperature difference and the limiting temperature difference of rectangular elements based on EDR (entransy dissipation rate) and MTD (maximum temperature difference) minimizations respectively are almost equal.Comparing heat transfer performances from the two optimization procedures, the dimensionless global flow resistance is decreased more for the former procedure when the assembly’s order is high.It may create great superiority for constructal optimization to combine the entransy dissipation extreme principle with heat convection.XIAO QingHua,CHEN LinGen & SUN FengRui Postgraduate School,Naval University of Engineering,Wuhan 430033,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:27
Enhancing aerodynamic performances of a high-turning compressor cascade via boundary layer suction显示文摘Experimental investigation was carried out to study the effect of suction positions and suction flow rates on the aerodynamic performance of a compressor cascade with a large camber angle. The ink-trace flow visualization was conducted and the flow fields of the cascade were also measured. Three types of boundary layer suction configurations are compared,i.e. the suction surface suction, the endwall suction and the compound suction. Experimental results show that the large amount of suction flow rate gains more losses reduction than the small amount for a certain proper suction configuration, but the speed of loss decline slows down as the suction flow rate goes on increasing. Boundary layer suction on the suction surface obviously enhances the ability of the boundary layer around the midspan to withstand the negative pressure gradient of the flow passage. The range of the suction surface corner is also decreased. If the suction slot locates in the corner separation region where severe separation has happened, the flow separation will be terminated at the slot and redevelop downstream. And boundary layer suction on the endwall mainly influences the endwall corner region in remarkably delaying, lessening and reorganizing the corner separation. While the whole flow field is remarkably improved at both midspan and the corner region in the compound suction schemes. At higher suction flow rates, the aerodynamic performance of the compressor cascade is better than that with boundary layer suction simply on the suction surface or on the endwall. When the suction flow rate is 1.5% of the inlet mass flow, the compound suction scheme achieves a maximum loss reduction of 17% compared with the cascade without boundary layer suction.GUO Shuang1, CHEN ShaoWen1, LU HuaWei2, SONG YanPing1 & CHEN Fu1 1 School of Energy Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001, China 2 Marine Engineering College, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian 116026, China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10:14
Study on bed load transport for uniform sediment in laminar flow显示文摘Previous studies focused on the bed load transport rate for the condition of turbulent flow, while the knowledge of sediment transport in laminar flow is very limited. As an extreme case to reflect the viscous effect on sediment transport, sediment transport in laminar flow is considered in this paper. There are at least two factors affecting the transport rate of sediment under laminar flow conditions: (1) fluid forces;(2) particle to particle interactions.Together, these two factors represent the physical transport system.First,an exposure degree Probability Density Function (PDF) is developed to explore how the transport rate can be associated with characteristics of laminar flow and this factor reflects the particle to particle interactions, and the pickup probability equation in the absence of turbulence is developed based on the stochastic approach which reflects the exposure degree influence. Then, the formulas to calculate the critical shear stress of incipient motion and the bed load transport rate of fine uniform sediment are established. The derivation is made mainly based on Einstein’s bed load theory;we choose Einstein’s equation to model this system because we believe that the probabilistic approach taken is an appropriate way to account for the spatial and temporal variations in the forces causing sediment transport. These formulas have been tested against a wide range of existing laboratory data and compared with other existing empirical or semiempirical methods. The predictions by these newly proposed formulas are very good.YANG FengGuang,LIU XingNian,CAO ShuYou,YANG KeJun & HUANG Er State Key Laboratory of Hydraulics and Mountain River Engineering,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610065,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:9
Modelling of dynamic recrystallization kinetics of 300M steel at high strain rates during hot deformation显示文摘The flow curves of 300M steel exhibit a transition from stress peak presence to stress peak absence as the strain rate increases. It is difficult to establish dynamic recrystallization(DRX) kinetics models suitable for strain rates where there are no stress peaks in the flow curves using the existing Avrami equation, and the optimal processing parameters for forging can be scarcely acquired. In this study, the high-temperature flow and DRX behavior of 300M steel are investigated by performing isothermal compression tests at temperatures between 1173–1423K with strain rates between 0.001–50 s-1. Distinct stress peaks can be found in the flow curves at low strain rates, and the average grain size decreases with the increase in the strain rate at the same temperature. The DRX mechanism is a discontinuous DRX, and the grain boundary migration plays an important role in the DRX process. In contrast, no stress peak is observed in the flow curves at high strain rates, and the average grain size no longer decreases with the strain rate increase at the same temperature. The DRX mechanism in this case is a continuous DRX. The demarcated strain rate is calculated based on the characteristics of the obtained flow curves and grain sizes. The recrystallization volume fraction model and prediction grain size model at high strain rates are established. In combination with the existing DRX kinetics models at low strain rates, the processing parameters can be optimized to produce components with excellent mechanical properties.GUO Peng DENG Lei WANG XinYun LI JianJun 2019Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,9:5
Research on cohesive sediment erosion by flow: An overview显示文摘Erosion of cohesive sediment by flow is a very complicated phenomenon occurring worldwide. Understanding and modeling of the erosion process are important for many issues such as the breaching of embankments, riverbank stability, siltation of harbors and navigation channels, service life of reservoirs, distribution of (heavy metal) pollutants and water quality problems. In the last few decades, numerous studies have been done on the erosion of cohesive sediment by flow. Nevertheless, the factors affecting the erosion resistance of cohesive sediment are still not fully understood and the knowledge of the physics of cohesive sediment erosion is in- adequate, as a result the mathematical modeling of this erosion is far from satis- factory. In this paper an overview of the studies on the erosion resistance, erosion threshold and the erosion rate of cohesive sediment by flow is presented. The outcomes achieved so far from the studies and the existing problems have been analyzed and summarized, based on which recommendations are proposed for future research.YongHui Zhu JinYou Lu HongZhi Liao JiaSheng Wang BeiLin Fan ShiMing Yao 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,11:5
Impact of stretching-segment on saturated flow rate of signalized intersection using cellular automation显示文摘In order to analyze the impact of stretching-segment on the saturated flow rate of signalized intersection approach, an improved cellular automation model was proposed to estimate its saturated flow rate. The NaSch model was improved by adding different slow probabilities, turning deceleration rules and modified lane changing rules. The relationship between the saturated flow rate of stretching-segments and adjacent lanes was tested in numerical simulation. The length of stretching-segment, cycle length and green time were selected as impact factors of the cellular automation model. The simulation result indicates that the geometrics design of stretching-segment and the traffic signal timing scenario have major effects on the saturated flow rate of the intersection approach. The saturated flow rate will continually increase with increasing stretching-segment length until it reaches a threshold. After reaching the threshold, the stretching-segment can be treated as a separate lane. The green time is approximately linearly related to the threshold length of the stretching-segment. An optimum cycle length exists when the length of the stretching-segment is not long enough, and it is approximately linearly related to the length of stretching-segment.李岩 陈宽民 过秀成 2013Journal of Central South University2013,20,10:4
Investigations into the coiled tubing partial underbalanced drilling (CT-PUBD)technique for drilling hard formations显示文摘To improve the rate of penetration(ROP) in drilling deep and hard formations, this paper proposes a new drilling method called coiled tubing partial underbalanced drilling(CT-PUBD). As a preliminary investigation into the new drilling method, this paper presents predictions of hole cleaning efficiency, drilling speed, cuttings migration and pressure loss in the drilling process with CT-PUBD. Based on numerical simulation and full-scale experimental studies, we conclude that using CT-PUBD, an underbalanced drilling condition can be achieved near the bit while maintaining wellbore safety at the same time. This condition can be achieved using a cuttings discharge device, a rotary packer and a backflow controller.According to the numerical simulations performed in this study, CT-PUBD can achieve high efficiency of hole cleaning.Along the cuttings migration process, the fluid velocities can reach the maximum values in the backflow holes. A full-scale laboratory experimental system was used to test the hydraulic characteristics and obtain the drilling performance of the new technology. The result shows that CT-PUBD significantly improves the ROP compared to the conventional drilling method.Huai-Zhong Shi Zhao-Sheng Ji He-Qian Zhao Heng-Yu Song Zhen-Liang Chen 2018Petroleum Science2018,15,4:4
Effect of internal bubbly flow on pipe vibrations显示文摘This paper presents an experimental investigation on wall vibrations of a pipe due to injection of a uniform bubble cloud into the pipe flow. For different bubble void fractions and averaged bubble sizes, the vibrations were measured using accelerometers. To understand the underlying physics, the evolution of the vibration spectra along the streamwise direction was examined. Results showed that wall vibrations were greatly enhanced up to 25 dB, compared with no bubble case. The characteristics of the vibration were mainly dependent on void fraction. These vibrations were believed to be caused by two mechanisms: acoustic resonance and normal modes of the bubble cloud. The former, originating from the interaction between the first mode of the bubble cloud and the first acoustic mode of the pipe, persisted along the entire pipe to enhance the vibration over a broad band frequency range, while the later, due to the process of bubble formation, successively decayed in the streamwise direction.ZHANG MingMing & XU JianZhong Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100190, China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,2:4
Intestinal injury can be reduced by intra-arterial postischemic perfusion with hypertonic saline显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of local intestinal perfusion with hypertonic saline(HTS) on intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI) in bothex vivo andin vivo rat models.METHODS:All experiments were performed on male Wistar rats anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium given intraperitoneally at a dose of 60 mg/kg.Ex vivo vascularly perfused rat intestine was subjected to 60-min ischemia and either 30-min reperfusion with isotonic buffer(controls),or 5 min with HTS of 365 or 415 mOsm/L osmolarity(HTS 365mOsm or HTS 415mOsm,respectively) followed by 25-min reperfusion with isotonic buffer. The vascular intestinal perfusate flow(IPF) rate was determined by collection of the effluent from the portal vein in a calibrated tube.Spontaneous intestinal contraction rate was monitored throughout.Irreversible intestinal injury or area of necrosis(AN) was evaluated histochemically using 2.3.5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. In vivo,30-min ischemia was followed by either 30-min blood perfusion or 5-min reperfusion with HTS 365mOsm through the superior mesenteric artery(SMA) followed by 25-min blood perfusion.Arterial blood pressure(BP) was measured in the common carotid artery using a miniature pressure transducer.Histological injury was evaluated in both preparations using the Chui score.RESULTS:Ex vivo, intestinal IRI resulted in a reduction in the IPF rate during reperfusion(P < 0.05 vs sham). The postischemic recovery of the IPF rate did not differ between the controls and the HTS 365mOsm group. In the HTS 415mOsm group, postischemic IPF rates were lower than in the controls and the HTS 365mOsm group(P < 0.05).The intestinal contraction rate was similar at baseline in all groups. An increase in this parameter was observed during the first 10 min of reperfusion in the control group as compared to the sham-treated group, but no such increase was seen in the HTS 365mOsm group. In controls,AN averaged 14.8% ± 5.07% of the total tissue volume.Administration of HTS 365mOsm for 5 min after 60-min ischemia resulted in decrease in AN(5.1% ± 1.20% vs controls,P < 0.01).However,perfusion of the intestine with the HTS of greater osmolarity(HTS 415mOsm) failed to protect the intestine from irreversible injury. The Chiu score was lower in the HTS 365mOsm group in comparison with controls(2.4 ± 0.54 vs 3.2 ± 0.44,P = 0.042),while intestinal perfusion with HTS 415mOsm failed to improve the Chiu score.Intestinal reperfusion with HTS 365mOsm in the in vivo series secured rapid recovery of BP after its transient fall, whereas in the controls no recovery was seen. The Chiu score was lower in the HTS 365mOsm group vs controls(3.1 ± 0.26 and 3.8 ± 0.22,P = 0.0079 respectively,),although the magnitude of the effect was lower than in the ex vivo series.CONCLUSION:Brief intestinal postischemic perfusion with HTS 365mOsm through the SMA followed by blood flow restoration is a protective procedure that could be used for the prevention of intestinal IRI.Oleg Kornyushin Michael Galagudza Anna Kotslova Gelfia Nutfullina Nina Shved Alexey Nevorotin Valeriy Sedov Timur Vlasov 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,2:4
Determination of critical parameters for dynamic recrystallization in Ti-6Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V alloy显示文摘The true stress-strain curves of Ti-6Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V alloy were achieved by a series of isothermal compression tests with height reduction of 60% under the deformation temperatures of 1073-1323 K and the strain rates of 0.01-10s 1.The critical conditions for the onset of DRX were attained when the value of d /d,where strain hardening rate d /d,reached the minimum which corresponds to an inflection of θ versus σ curve. Thus, two important potential parameters, critical strain and critical stress, were identified, and expressed as εc/εp=0.37-0.60,σc/σp=0.81-0.91.Furthermore,by the regression analysis for conventional hyperbolic sine equation, the main material parameters such as α,β,n,and DRX activation energy,Q,were calculated. In addition, the evolution of Q with strain rate and temperature was revealed as a 3D response surface.XIA Yu-feng LIU Ying-ying MAO Yuan-ping QUAN Guo-zheng ZHOU Jie 2012中国有色金属学会会刊:英文版2012,22,S3:4
Analysis on Suspended Sediment Deposition Rate for Muddy Coast of Reclaimed Land显示文摘A new expression for calculating suspended fine-sediment deposition rate is developed based on theoretic analysis and experiments. The resulting equation is applied to simulation of fine sediment deposition in the reclaimed land in the Hangzhou Bay, China. The hydrodynamic environment in this area is solved by use of a long wave model, which gives the 2D-velocity field and considers bathymetric changes due to fine sediment deposition. The expression is proved convenient to use in engineering practice, and the predicted deposition rate agrees with the annual data available from field measurements from the first year to the third year after the construction of the long groin as a reclaiming method.王义刚 李熙 林祥 2001China Ocean Engineering2001,16,1:3
Dynamic behavior of coalbed methane flow along the annulus of single-phase production显示文摘Dynamic behavior of coalbed methane (CBM) flow will provide the theoretical basis to optimize production performance for a given well.A mathematical model is developed to simulate flowing pressures and pressure drops of CBM column from well head to bottom hole. The measured parameters and independent variables of flow rates, flowing pressures and temperatures are involved in CBM producing process along the annulus. The developed relationships are validated against full-scale measured data in single-phase CBM wellbores. The proposed methodology can analyze the dynamic behavior in CBM reservoir and process of CBM flow with an overall accuracy of 2%.The calculating process of flowing pressures involves friction factor with variable Reynolds number and CBM temperature and compressibility factor with gravitational gradients. The results showed that the effect of flowing pressure on CBM column was more obvious than that on CBM and water column accompanied by an increase of dynamic water level. The ratios of flowing pressure on increment of CBM column to the whole column increased with the declined flow rates of water column.Bottom-hole pressure declined with the decreased flowing pressure of CBM column along the annulus. It will lead to the results of the increased pressure drop of CBM column and CBM flow rate in single-phase CBM wellbores.Xinfu Liu Chunhua Liu Guoqiang Liu 2019International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2019,6,4:3
Experimental Investigation on the Effect of Mainstream Turbulence on Full Coverage Film Cooling Effectiveness for a Turbine Guide Vane显示文摘Experiments have been performed to investigate the effect of mainstream turbulence on the three-dimensional distribution of the full coverage film cooling effectiveness for two enlarged actual twisted vanes with cylindrical or shaped holes. The film cooling effectiveness was measured by transient liquid crystal technique at mainstream turbulence intensities of 2%, 9% and 15%. The mass flow rate ratios range from 5.5% to 12.5%. There are 3, 8 and 7 rows of film holes on the suction side, leading edge and pressure side, respectively. Results show that for the cylindrical hole vane the high mainstream turbulence intensity decreases the film cooling effectiveness in the top region and down region of pressure side in the low mass flow rate ratio of 5.5%, while the effect is opposite in the high mass flow rate ratio of 12.5%. The film cooling effectiveness in the middle region of pressure side decreases obviously with the increase of the turbulence at the low mass flow rate ratio of 5.5%, while the influence of increasing turbulence weakens gradually with the increase of mass flow rate ratio. Moreover, the high mainstream turbulence improves the film cooling effectiveness in the further downstream of the holes on suction side at the high mass flow rate ratio of 12.5%. For the shaped hole vane, the increase of mainstream turbulence decreases the film cooling effectiveness at all mass flow rate ratios. This study reveals the influence rule of the mainstream turbulence on the film cooling effectiveness in the different regions of the three-dimensional vane surface. The results would guide the designs of engineering heat transfer with application in gas turbine blade/vane cooling.FU Zhongyi ZHU Huiren CHENG Lijian JIANG Ru 2019Journal of Thermal Science2019,28,1:3
Effect of strain, strain rate and temperature on workability of AZ80 wrought magnesium alloy显示文摘The hot deformation behavior of AZ80 wrought magnesium alloy was studied in the temperature range of 523-673 K and the strain rate range of 0.01-10 s-1 using hot compression tests.Through the flow stresses behavior, the processing maps were calculated and analyzed according to the dynamic materials model. The stable, metastable and unstable regimes were clarified. The optimum processing conditions were suggested as following:the DRX regions in Domain #1-0.25,Domain #2-0.25,Domain #1-0.45,Domain #2-0.45,Domain #3-0.45,Domain #1-0.65 and Domain #1-0.85,and the DRV regions in Domain #3-0.25 and Domain #4-0.45.In each 'safe' DRX domain,it is preferable to conduct hot working in the small region around efficiency peak point. The strain has a great influence on the processing maps. The whole area of the 'safe' domains increases with the increase of true strain from 0.25 to 0.65,while it decreases with the increase of true strain from 0.65 to 0.85.The results of kinetic analysis reveal that the values of apparent activation energy in all the domains are higher than that for self-diffusion in pure magnesium (135kJ/mol),and the deformation mechanism in all the domains is likely to be cross-slip.Lü Wen-quan QUAN Guo-zheng YU Chun-tang ZHAO Lei ZHOU Jie 2012中国有色金属学会会刊:英文版2012,22,S3:2
Theoretical analysis of the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation for aeolian sandy soil in Taklimakan Desert显示文摘Phreatic evaporation is a great lose for shallow groundwater in the Taklimakan Desert. Given soil type and groundwater table, the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation is defined as the maximum of water transferred from groundwater to soil surface per unit time, which is a key parameter and control condition for phreatic evaporation model developing. The soil water characteristic curve for the aeolian sandy soil in the Taklimakan Desert was fitted with the least square method based on the formula of soil moisture characteristics curve proposed by Van Genuchten, using observed soil moisture and soil water suction data. The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was determined by the instantaneous profile method in situ and the calculation formula for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was established. According to the steady flow theory, the quasi-analytical solution of limiting rate of phreatic evaporation was derived on the basis of generalization of the formula of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity. The results show that the soil moisture characteristics in the Taklimakan Desert can be well described by Van Genuchten’s formula, and the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation declines by power function with the descending of groundwater table.HU ShunJun LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen SONG YuDong TIAN ChangYan CHEN XiaoBin LI XiuChang 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:2

Mechanical and Tribological Properties of CrN Coated Inconel X750显示文摘Three CrN coatings were deposited on the Inconel X750 through the metal vapor vacuum arc ion implantation and the magnetic filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition system(MEVVA-FCVA) with the N2 flow rates of 10,50,and 100sccm, respectively. The surface morphologies and cross-section morphologies of the CrN coatings were obtained through scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and an optical profilometer. The microstructures of the coatings were characterized through X-ray diffraction(XRD).The hardness and the elastic modulus of the coatings were tested by a nano-hardness tester. The adhesion strength and friction coefficients were investigated through scratch tests and ball-on-disk tests and the wear tracks were tested by the optical profilometer. The experimental results indicate that the CrN coating deposited on the Inconel X750 substrate displays a uniform thickness and a smooth surface. The mechanical properties behaves well as the N2 flow rate varies. The CrN coating significantly reduces the friction coefficient fluctuation and improves the antiadhesion and anti-wear properties of the Inconel X750.刘吉良 廖日东 LIAO Bin LUO Jun BAO Ke 2019Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2019,34,4:1
A new solution to enhance cuttings transport in mining drilling by using pulse jet mill technique显示文摘In horizontal drilling, the cuttings bed is frequently formed to result in severe problems such as backing pressure, binding of bottom hole assembly(BHA) and even sticking of tool. Practice and research show that the smaller particle size is, the more favorable to carry out from bottom of hole in extended reach well or horizontal well. This paper presented a new solution to enhance cuttings transport in mining drilling through a new type of bit called pulsed mill bit(PMB) by using pulse jet mill technique. It provides a promising solution to enhance the efficiencies of rock breaking and cuttings carrying for pulsed jet, sucking cuttings to decrease the chip hold down effect, and reducing cuttings' diameter to eliminate cuttings bed. The design was supported by the calculation models of Helmholtz resonator natural frequency, optimal drilling fluid flow rate of resonator, drilling fluid flow velocity in forward jet channel, critical impact velocity of cuttings and minimum length of the accelerating cavity. Meanwhile, factors affecting optimal drilling fluid flow rate, critical impact velocity of cuttings and minimum length of accelerating cavity were investigated. Case study showed a good consistency between the calculation results and the related theories. It is concluded that optimal drilling fluid flow rate increases with the increase of inlet and outlet cavity's diameter, and decreases with the increase of the diameter of the resonant cavity. Critical impact velocity of cuttings increases with the energy conversion factor(β) and ROP, while decreasing with the final size of the cuttings(d_t). This effect is obvious when β<0.2, ROP<3.048 mh^(-1) and d_t<0.3 mm. Minimum length of the accelerating cavity decreases with the increase of the resonator's natural frequency and separation coefficient(α) of drilling fluid flow rate. This study provides a promising solution to remove cuttings bed in horizontal well.LIU YongSheng GAO DeLi WEI Zheng BALACHANDRAN Balakumar WANG ZhenQuan TAN LeiChuan 2019Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,5:1
STUDIES ON THE LAW OF LAMINAR HELICAL FLOW OF POWER-LAW FLUID IN ECCENTRIC ANNULI显示文摘According to the principle of fluid mechanics, the law of laminar, helical flow of power-law fluid in eccentric annuli is studied extensively in this paper. The apparent viscosity, velocities distribution of laminar helical flow of power-law fluid are discussed and calculating methods of flow rate and pressure loss are presented. The factors influencing flow are also analysed. On the basis of theoretical studies some new results of the present paper are compared with the theories of the helical flow of the power-law fluid in concentric annuli. The test verified that theoretical formulas in this article are proper and general. They can be used for calculating hydraulic parameters in drilling engineering.李帮达 刘永健 张景富 1993Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)1993,14,7:1
