| 3 | Investigation of the Effects of Baffles on the Shallow Water Sloshing in A Rectangular Tank Using A 2D Turbulent ISPH Method显示文摘Liquid sloshing is a common phenomenon in the liquid tanks transportation. Liquid waves lead to fluctuating forces on the tank wall. Uncontrolled fluctuations lead to large forces and momentums. Baffles can control these fluctuations. A numerical method, which has been widely used to model this phenomenon, is Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH). The Lagrangian nature of this method makes it suitable for simulating free surface flows. In the present study, an accurate Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(ISPH) method is developed and improved using the kernel gradient correction tensors, particle shifting algorithms, k–ε turbulence model, and free surface particle detectors. Comparisons with the experimental data approve the ability of the present algorithm for simulating shallow water sloshing. The main aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the vertical baffle on the damping of liquid sloshing. | 4 | Surface free energy of copper-zinc alloy for energy-saving of boiler显示文摘Cu-Zn, Cu-Zn-Sn, Cu-Zn-Ni alloys were melted by vacuum smelter. | 6 | Using thermodynamic parameters to study self-healing and interface properties of crumb rubber modified asphalt based on molecular dynamics simulation显示文摘The thermodynamic property of asphalt binder is changed by the addition of crumb rubber,which in turn influences the self-healing property as well as the cohesion and adhesion within the asphalt-aggregate system.This study investigated the self-healing and interface properties of crumb rubber modified asphalt(CRMA)using thermodynamic parameters based on the molecular simulation approach.The molecular models of CRMA were built with representative structures of the virgin asphalt and the crumb rubber.The aggregate was represented by SiO2 and Al2O3 crystals.The selfhealing capability was evaluated with the thermodynamic parameter wetting time,work of cohesion and diffusivity.The interface properties were evaluated by characterizing the adhesion capability,the debonding potential and the moisture susceptibility of the asphalt-aggregate interface.The self-healing capability of CRMA is found to decrease as the rubber content increases.The asphalt-Al2O3 interface with higher rubber content has stronger adhesion and moisture stability.But the influence of crumb rubber on the interfacial properties of asphalt-SiO2 interface has no statistical significance.Comparing with the interfacial properties of the asphalt-SiO2 interface,the asphalt-Al2O3 interface is found to have a stronger adhesion but a worse moisture susceptibility for its enormous thermodynamic potential for water to displace the asphalt binder. | Dongliang HU Jianzhong PEI Rui LI Jiupeng ZHANG Yanshun JIA Zepeng FAN | 2020 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2020,14,1: | 5 |

| 10 | Closed-form solutions for free vibration of rectangular FGM thin plates resting on elastic foundation显示文摘This article presents closed-form solutions for the frequency analysis of rectangular functionally graded material(FGM) thin plates subjected to initially in-plane loads and with an elastic foundation. Based on classical thin plate theory, the governing differential equations are derived using Hamilton's principle. A neutral surface is used to eliminate stretching–bending coupling in FGM plates on the basis of the assumption of constant Poisson's ratio. The resulting governing equation of FGM thin plates has the same form as homogeneous thin plates. The separation-ofvariables method is adopted to obtain solutions for the free vibration problems of rectangular FGM thin plates with separable boundary conditions, including, for example, clamped plates. The obtained normal modes and frequencies are in elegant closed forms, and present formulations and solutions are validated by comparing present results with those in the literature and finite element method results obtained by the authors. These two phenomena were explained with Zhou & Sloan’s hypothesis and the theory of surface free energy respectively, and a novel method of gas hydrate formation was presented——gas hydrate fast nucleation from melting ice and quiescent growth along heat transfer tube. There is no mechanic stirring in this method, the formed gas hydrates are compact, the ratio of unreacted interstitial water is little, which overcome the drawback of high energy cost and high ratio of unreacted interstitial water among the formed gas hydrates in the system with mechanic stirring. | 16 | An approach for machining distortion measurements and evaluation of thin-walled blades with small datum显示文摘Inspection techniques for aero-engine blades are a hot topic in industry. Since these blades have a sculptured surface and a small datum, measurement results may deviate from an actual position. There are few proper approaches compensating for non-uniform distribution errors that are within specified tolerance ranges. This study aimed to develop a meshing structure measuring approach for the distortion of blades via non-contact optical 3D scanning. A rough measurement and a registration procedure are initially adopted to rectify the coordinate system of a blade, which avoids the initial coordinate system errors caused by the small datum. A measurement path with meshing structure is then unfolded on the blade surface. For non-uniform distribution errors, the meshing structure measurement is more visual and clear than the traditional constant height curves method. All measuring points take only 7 min to complete, and the distribution of error is directly and accurately presented by the meshing structure. | 17 | Experimental Study on Sloshing Characteristics in the Elastic Tank Based on Morlet Wavelet Transform显示文摘Hydroelastic effect of sloshing is studied through an experimental investigation. Different excitation frequencies are considered with low-fill-depth and large amplitude. Morlet wavelet transform is introduced to analyze the free surface elevations and sloshing pressures. It focuses on variations and distributions of the wavelet energy in elastic tanks. The evolutions of theoretical and experimental wavelet spectra are discussed and the corresponding Fourier spectrums are compared. Afterwards, average values of the wavelet spectra are extracted to do a quantitative study at various points. From the wavelet analysis, sloshing energies are mainly distributed around the external excitation frequency and expanded to high frequencies under violent condition. In resonance, experimental wavelet energy of the elevation in elastic tanks is obviously less than that in the rigid one; for sloshing pressures, the elastic wavelet energy close to the rigid one and conspicuous impulse is observed. | 18 | Water entry of decelerating spheres simulations using improved ISPH method显示文摘In this paper, we simulated the vertical impact of spheres on a water surface using three-dimensional incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics(3-D ISPH) method. The sphere motion is taken to be a rigid body motion and it is modeled by ISPH method. The governing equations are discretized and solved numerically using ISPH method. A stabilized incompressible SPH method by relaxing the density invariance condition is adopted. Here, we computed the motions of a rigid body by direct integration of the fluid pressure at the position of each particle on the body surface. The equations of translational and rotational motion were integrated in time domain to update the position of the rigid body at each time step. In this study, we improved the boundary treatment between fluid and fixed solid boundary by using virtual marker technique. In addition, an improved algorithm based on the virtual marker technique for the boundary particles is proposed to treat the moving boundary of the rigid body motion. The force exerted on the moving rigid boundary particles by the surrounding particles, is calculated by the SPH approximation at the virtual marker points. | 19 | Effect of surface free energy of acetylene black powder on air electrode performance显示文摘The effects of acetylene black powder surface free energy on air electrode electrochemical performance and lifetime were studied. The acetylene black was immersed in 30% H2O2 at room temperature and the changes of functional groups and surface free energy were investigated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and powder contact angle (CA). The air electrode performance was characterized by the potential polarization curves and the lifetime was measured by constant-current discharge. It shows that, its surface free energy is the lowest when the acetylene black is immersed in H2O2 for 240 h. The polarization potential of the air electrode prepared by the pretreated acetylene black is 0.25 V(vs. Hg/HgO), 0.21 V lower than the air electrode with untreated acetylene black when the working current density is 100 mA·cm-1. And its lifetime is over 800 h at 80 mA·cm-1.
