1Effects of rare earth on inclusions and corrosion resistance of 10PCuRE weathering steel显示文摘The types, morphologies and distributions of nonmetallic inclusions in Cu-P weathering steels with and without rare earth were analyzed through a quantitative image analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) attached to SEM. Solid-soluble content of rare earth in the steels was analyzed by non-aqua electroanalysis and ICP. The results showed that rare earth modified the types and the morphologies of inclusions in the weathering steels. The small spherical rare earth oxysulfides and rare earth sulphides replaced the elongated MnS inclusions in the RE weathering steels. The rare earth inclusions dispersedly distributed and most inclusions were smaller than 2 μm in size. The optimum content of RE was 0.0065%-0.016% for 10PCuRE weathering steels containing about 0.002% oxygen and 0.004% sulfur. Solid-soluble content of rare earth in steels was (14-20)×10-6, which can act as a micro-alloying element. The corrosion resistance of 10PCuRE weathering steels and Q235 were studied by dry-wet cyclic immersion test. Their corrosion rates were obtained respectively. The polarization curves and pitting corrosion behaviors of weathering steels with and without rare earth were measured by electrochemical methods. The corrosion resistance of Cu-P weathering steels was improved by adding an appropriate amount of rare earth. Less and fewer rare earth inclusions largely decreased pitting susceptibility and rate of pit propagation. The pitting potential and the resistance against pitting corrosion of the RE weathering steel were significantly improved due to the modification of rare earth to inclusions.岳丽杰 王龙妹 韩金生 2010Journal of Rare Earths2010,28,6:25

3Effects of tachyplesin on the morphology and ultrastructure of human gastric carcinoma cell line BGC-823显示文摘AIM To investigate the morphological andultrastructural changes in the human gastriccarcinoma cell line BGC-823 after being treatedwith tachyplesin.METHODS Tachyplesin was isolated from acidextracts of Chinese horseshoe crab(Tachypleustridentatus)hemocytes.BGC-823 cells and thecells treated with 2.0mg/L tachyplesin wereexamined respectively under light microscope,scanning and transmission electron microscope.RESULTS BGC-823 cells had undergone therestorational alteration in morphology andultrastructure after tachyplesin treatment.Thechanges were as follows:the shape of cells wasunanimous,the volume enlarged and cellsturned to be flat and spread,the nucleo-cytoplasmic ratio lessened and nuclear shapebecame rather regular,the number of nucleolusreduced and its volume lessened,heter-chromatin decreased while euchromatinincreased in nucleus.In the cytoplasm,mitochondria grew in number with consistentstructure relatively,Golgi complex turned to betypical and well-developed,rough endoplasmicreticulum increased and polyribosomedecreased.The microvilli at cellular surfacewere rare and the filopodia reduced whilelamellipodia increased at the cell edge.CONCLUSION Tachyplesin could alter themalignant morphological and ultrastructuralcharacteristics of human gastric carcinoma cellseffectively and have a certain inducing differen-tiation effect on human gastric carcinoma cells.Li QF Ou Yang GL Li CY Hong SG 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,5:19
4Growth-inhibiting effects of taxol on human liver cancer in vitro and in nude mice显示文摘AIM To investigate the effects of taxol onSMMC-7721 human hepatoma and itsmechanisms.METHODS In vitro cell growth was assessedby trypan blue exclusion method.Experimentalhepatoma model was established by seedingSMMC-7721 cells subcutaneously into Balb/c(nu/nu)nude mice.In vivo tumor growth wasdetermined by measurement of tumor diameterwith Vernier calipers.The syntheses of DNA,RNA and protein were analyzed by incorporationof ~3H-thymidine,~3H-uridine and ~3H-leucinerespectively.Using light and electronmicroscopes to observe the morphologicalchanges of cells including mitosis andapoptosis.RESULTS Taxol was effective against SMMC-7721 human hepatoma cell growth in the rangesof 2.5 nmol/L-10 nmol/L with mitotic arrestand apoptosis in vitro.DNA,RNA and proteinsyntheses in cells were also obviouslysuppressed by in vitro treatment of taxol for72 h.Taxol at 2.5 nmol/L reduced ~3H-thymidineuptake to about 34% of the control value(P<0.05).Increasing the dose of taxol to20 nmol/L resulted in a greater decrease in ~3H-thymidine incorporation to 60% of the controlvalue(P<0.01).At a concentration of 20 nmol/L,the ~3H-uridine and ~3H-leucine uptakeswere reduced to 52%(P<0.05)and 63%(P<0.01),respectively.In vivo,taxolsignificantly inhibited SMMC-7721 tumor growthat 10 mg/kg,i.p.,once daily for 10 d.A morethan 90% decrease in tumor volume wasobserved by day 11(P<0.01)similarly withmitotic arrest and cell apoptosis.CONCLUSION Taxol has a marked anticanceractivity in SMMC-7721 human hepatoma both invitro and in nude mice.Its mechanisms might beassociated with mitotic arrest,subsequently,apoptosis of the hepatoma cells.No obvioustoxicity was observed with in vivoadministration of taxoi.Jin Hui Yuan Ru Ping Zhang Ru Gang Zhang Li Xia Guo Xing Wang Wang Dan Luo Yong Xie Hong Xie 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,2:18

6Microstructure characteristics of cement-stabilized sandy soil using nanosilica显示文摘An experimental program was conducted to explore the impact of nanosilica on the microstructure and mechanical characteristics of cemented sandy soil.Cement agent included Portland cement type II.Cement content was 6% by weight of the sandy soil.Nanosilica was added in percentages of 0%,4%,8% and 12% by weight of cement.Cylindrical samples were prepared with relative density of 80% and optimum water content and cured for 7 d,28 d and 90 d.Microstructure characteristics of cementnanosilica-sand mixtures after 90 d of curing have been explored using atomic force microscopy(AFM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) tests.Effects of curing time on microstructure properties of cemented sandy soil samples with 0% and 8% nanosilica have been investigated using SEM test.Unconfined compression test(for all curing times) and compaction test were also performed.The SEM and AFM tests results showed that nanosilica contributes to enhancement of cemented sandy soil through yielding denser,more uniform structure.The XRD test demonstrated that the inclusion of nanosilica in the cemented soil increases the intensity of the calcium silicate hydrate(CSH) peak and decreases the intensity of the calcium hydroxide(CH) peak.The results showed that adding optimum percentages of nanosilica to cement-stabilized sandy soil enhances its mechanical and microstructure properties.Asskar Janalizadeh Choobbasti Saman Soleimani Kutanaei 2017Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,5:16

8An enriched environment promotes synaptic plasticity and cognitive recovery after permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion in mice显示文摘Cerebral ischemia activates an endogenous repair program that induces plastic changes in neurons. In this study, we investigated the effects of environmental enrichment on spatial learning and memory as well as on synaptic remodeling in a mouse model of chronic cerebral ischemia, produced by subjecting adult male C57 BL/6 mice to permanent left middle cerebral artery occlusion. Three days postoperatively, mice were randomly assigned to the environmental enrichment and standard housing groups. Mice in the standard housing group were housed and fed a standard diet. Mice in the environmental enrichment group were housed in a cage with various toys and fed a standard diet. Then, 28 days postoperatively, spatial learning and memory were tested using the Morris water maze. The expression levels of growth-associated protein 43, synaptophysin and postsynaptic density protein 95 in the hippocampus were analyzed by western blot assay. The number of synapses was evaluated by electron microscopy. In the water maze test, mice in the environmental enrichment group had a shorter escape latency, traveled markedly longer distances, spent more time in the correct quadrant(northeast zone), and had a higher frequency of crossings compared with the standard housing group. The expression levels of growth-associated protein 43, synaptophysin and postsynaptic density protein 95 were substantially upregulated in the hippocampus in the environmental enrichment group compared with the standard housing group. Furthermore, electron microscopy revealed that environmental enrichment increased the number of synapses in the hippocampal CA1 region. Collectively, these findings suggest that environmental enrichment ameliorates the spatial learning and memory impairment induced by permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion. 9Stretching and imaging studies of single DNA molecules显示文摘DNA molecules were stretched on silanized mica surface with the molecular combing technique, and detected with fluorescence microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Meantime, DNA molecules were stretched with a modified dynamic molecular combing technique and studied with atomic force microscopy. The results indicate that, compared with the dynamic molecular combing technique, the modified dynamic molecular combing technique has advantages of less-sample demand and less contamination to sample; as compared with the molecular combing technique, it has better aligning effect and reproducibility. 10Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein-IgG Contributes to Oligodendrocytopathy in the Presence of Complement, Distinct from Astrocytopathy Induced by AQP4-IgG显示文摘Immunoglobulin G against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein(MOG-Ig G) is detectable in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder(NMOSD) without aquaporin-4 Ig G(AQP4-Ig G), but its pathogenicity remains unclear.In this study, we explored the pathogenic mechanisms of MOG-Ig G in vitro and in vivo and compared them with those of AQP4-Ig G. MOG-Ig G-positive serum induced complement activation and cell death in human embryonic kidney(HEK)-293 T cells transfected with human MOG. In C57 BL/6 mice and Sprague-Dawley rats, MOG-Ig G only caused lesions in the presence of complement. Interestingly, AQP4-Ig G induced astroglial damage, while MOGIg G mainly caused myelin loss. MOG-Ig G also induced astrocyte damage in mouse brains in the presence ofcomplement. Importantly, we also observed ultrastructural changes induced by MOG-Ig G and AQP4-Ig G. These findings suggest that MOG-Ig G directly mediates cell death by activating complement in vitro and producing NMOSDlike lesions in vivo. 11Morphological and cytological changes of meibomian glands in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘AIM: To observe the changes of microcellular structure of meibomian glands(MGs) in type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM), and to explore its correlation with the duration of diabetes.METHODS: The study assessed 132 eyes of 132 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM group) and 100 eyes of 100 non-diabetic participants(NDM group). All patients underwent the examination of the Keratograph 5 M system to obtain the meibography which were used to evaluate the structure dropout of the MGs. And then laser scanning confocal microscopy(LSCM) was performed for observing the acinar cells and ducts of the MGs to obtain the following parameters: the MG acinar unit density(MGAUD), MG acinar longest diameter(MGALD) and MG acinar shortest diameter(MGASD). The examination results of the right eye were selected for analysis.RESULTS: Compared with that in NDM group, the meiboscore was significantly higher(Z=-4.057, P<0.001), and there were more MGs dropout in DM group. With the prolongation of the course of diabetes, the absence of MGs aggravated and the MGs dropout score increased(r=0.596;P<0.001). LSCM showed that there were various cytological alterations in acinar cells of MGs with the progress of diabetes duration, such as expansion, atrophy or fibrosis of MG acinar units, decreased density of MG acinar units, deposition of lipid substances, infiltration of inflammatory cells, proliferation of fibrous tissues, etc. And the opening of the glandular duct changed from smooth at the beginning to narrow, blocked, fibrotic and so on. Compared with that in NDM group, the MGAUD in DM group was significantly lower(Z=-9.713;P<0.001), the MGALD and MGASD were significantly larger(Z=-9.751,-6.416;P<0.001). With the duration of diabetes, the MGAUD reduced, the MGASD increased(r=0.860, 0.364, P<0.001);but the MGALD had no correlation with diabetic duration(r=0.133, P=0.151).CONCLUSION: With the progress of diabetes, the meibomian glandular acinar cells of diabetic patients show various manifestations. 12Luminescent properties and application of Eu^(3+)-activated Gd_2(MoO_4)_3 red-emitting phosphor with pseudo-pompon shape for solid-state lighting显示文摘Eu3+-activated Gd2(MoO4)3 pseudo-pompon-like red-emitting phosphors were prepared by solid-state method. The structure, morphology, and luminescent properties of these powder samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and fluorescent spectrophotometry, respectively. The as-obtained phosphors were single crystalline phase with orthorhombic unit cell. The particles of the powder samples had the length of 5-12 m and width of 3-7 m with flake shape and large surface area, which is suitable for manufacture of white LEDs. The phosphor could be efficiently excited by the incident light of 348-425 nm, well matched with the output wavelength of near-UV (In,Ga)N chip, and re-emitted an intense red light peaking at 615 nm. By combing this phosphor with a ~395 nm-emitting (In,Ga)N chip, a red LED was fabricated, so that the applicability of this novel phosphor to white LEDs was confirmed. 13Expressions of chromogranin A and cathepsin D in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM To determine the expression and clinicalsignificance of chromogranin A and cathepsin Din hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS Double immunofluorescence stain-ing techniques combined with laser confocalscanning microscopy(LSCM)was used toinvestigate chromogranin A and cathepsin Dexpressions in 85 HCC patients.RESULTS Cathepsin D was expressed in :3normal liver tissues,while in HCC the stainingshowed regional variation and the fraction ofstrongly stained cells increased as the tumorsbecame less differentiated and usually clinicallymore malignant.Cells which showed strongpositivity for cathepsin D were present in 71/85(83.5%)cases.Strong expression of cathepsinD in cancer cells was related tohistopathological features.They were morecommon in grade 3-4(26/28,92.9%)and grade2(46/53,86.8%)tumors than in grade 1 tumors(1/4,25.0%)(P<0.01).No significantcorrelation was found between age andcathepsin D expression.In patients with positivecathepsin D reaction,the mean age was 52.1±2.8 years(range 32-68 years)and in the groupwith negative reaction,the mean age was 51.3±4.5 years(range 28-71 years).No obvious relationship was observed between CgAexpression in cancer cells and thehistopathological features.The CgA positiverate was 75.0%(3/4)in grade 1,71.7%(38/53)in grade 2,and 71.4%(20/28)in grade 3-4(P>0.05)tumors.The coexpression of CgA andcathepsin D was found by double labeledimmunofluorescence staining techniques.Theprocessing of cathepsin D was disturbed in HCCcells and accumulated in the cells.Cathepsin Dhad proteolytic activity and autocrine mitogeniceffect,suggesting their functions in invasion.These findings demonstrated that the expressionof cathepsin D in HCC had prognostic value.CONCLUSION Chromogranin A and cathepsin Dare expressed in a high proportion of HCC andthe existence of cathepsin D in HCC might berelated to processing of CgA.This is clearly asubject for further studies because of itspotential clinical applications.Xiao Feng Huang Chun Mei Wang Xiao Wen Dai Zhen Jiang Li Bo Rong Pan Li Bin Yu Bin Qian Li Fang 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,5:12
14Multiparametric analysis of colorectal cancer immune responses显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a heterogeneous disease, with a diverse and plastic immune cell infiltrate. These immune cells play an important role in regulating tumour growth-progression or elimination. Some populations of cells have a strong correlation with disease-free survival, making them useful prognostic markers. In particular, the infiltrate of CD3^+ and CD8^+ T cells into CRC tumours has been validated worldwide as a valuable indicator of patient prognosis. However, the heterogeneity of the immune response, both between patients with tumours of different molecular subtypes, and within the tumour itself, necessitates the use of multiparametric analysis in the investigation of tumour-specific immune responses. This review will outline the multiparametric analysis techniques that have been developed and applied to studying the role of immune cells in the tumour, with a focus on colorectal cancer. Because much of the data in this disease relates to T cell subsets and heterogeneity, we have used T cell populations as examples throughout. Flow and mass cytometry give a detailed representation of the cells within the tumour in a single-cell suspension on a per-cell basis. Imaging technologies, such as imaging mass cytometry, are used to investigate increasing numbers of markers whilst retaining the spatial and structural information of the tumour section and the infiltrating immune cells. 15Restudies on Body Surface of Dung Beetle and Application of Its Bionics Flexible Technique显示文摘A scanning electron microscope was used to observe the structures of the setae on the surface of a dung beetle Copris ochus, Motschulsky. There are lots of setae on the body surface, especially on the ventral part surface and lateral to the legs which are different in size, arrangement and shape. These setae have different lengths and many thorns on the whole seta. The top ends of these setae stand up without furcations which direct uprightly towards the surface of the touched soil. By the method of removing these setae, getting the insect weight before and after digging into the dung we affirm farther that the setae on the beetle body surface form the anti-stick and non-adherent gentle interface. 16IN SITU OBSERVATION OF GROWTH BEHAVIOR AND MORPHOLOGY OF DELTA-FERRITE AS FUNCTION OF SOLIDIFICATION RATE IN AN AISI304 STAINLESS STEEL显示文摘It was presented the in situ observation of growth behavior and morphology of delta-ferrite as a function of solidification rate in an AISI304 stainless steel. The specimens have been solidified and observed using confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM). The δ-phase always appears like cells on the sample surface when critical supercooling occurs, during which the L→δ transformation starts. The solid-liquid (S-L) interface is found to be finger shaped and has no faceted shape. γ phase appears among δ grains due to partitioning of Ni into the melt during solidification, when solidification rate is higher. The mergence of observed δ cells is possible for the steel sample cooled at 7.5℃/min. The formation of dendrites can be observed on the free surface of the steel sample cooled at 150℃/min. The size of solidified delta grains decreases from 120 to 20-80μm, and the volume fraction of solidified austenite increases with increase in solidification rate from 7.5 to 150℃/min. 17Ocular surface changes in type II diabetic patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy显示文摘AIM: To detect and analyze the changes on ocular surface and tear function in type II diabetic patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR), an advanced stage of diabetic retinopathy(DR), using conventional ophthalmic tests and the high-resolution laser scanning confocal microscopy.METHODS: Fifty-eight patients with type II diabetes were selected. Based on the diagnostic criteria and stage classification of DR, the patients were divided into the non-DR(NDR) group and the PDR group. Thirty-six patients with cataract but no other ocular and systemic disease were included as non-diabetic controls. All the patients were subjected to the conventional clinical tests of corneal sensitivity, Schirmer I test, and corneal fluorescein staining. The non-invasive tear film break-up time(NIBUT) and tear interferometry were conducted by a Tearscope Plus. The morphology of corneal epithelia and nerve fibers was examined using the high-resolution confocal microscopy.RESULTS: The NDR group exhibited significantly declined corneal sensitivity and Schirmer I test value, as compared to the non-diabetic controls(P <0.001). The PDR group showed significantly reduced corneal sensitivity, Schirmer I test value, and NIBUT in comparison to the non-diabetic controls(P <0.001).Corneal fluorescein staining revealed the progressively injured corneal epithelia in the PDR patients. Moreover,significant decrease in the corneal epithelial density andmorphological abnormalities in the corneal epithelia and nerve fibers were also observed in the PDR patients.CONCLUSION: Ocular surface changes, including blunted corneal sensitivity, reduced tear secretion, tear film dysfunction, progressive loss of corneal epithelia and degeneration of nerve fibers, are common in type II diabetic patients, particularly in the diabetic patients with PDR. The corneal sensitivity, fluorescein staining scores,and the density of corneal epithelial cells and nerve fibers in the diabetic patients correlate with the duration of diabetes. 18LASER LIFT-OFF OF GaN THIN FILMS FROM SAPPHIRE SUBSTRATES显示文摘Gallium Nitride film was successfully separated from sapphire substrate by laser radiation. The absorption of the 248nm radiation by the GaN at the interface results in rapid thermal decomposition of the interfacial layer, yielding metallic Ga and N2 gas. The substrate can be easily removed by heating above the Ga melting point (29℃). X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy and Photoluminescence of CaN before and after lift-off process have been performed, which demonstrated that the separation and transfer process do not alter the structural quality of the GaN films. 19Microstructure evolution of single crystal copper wires in cold drawing显示文摘The deformation microstructure evolution of single crystal copper wires produced by OCC method has been studied with the help of TEM, EBSD and OM. The results show that there are a small number of dendrites and twins in the undeformed single crystal copper wires. However, it is difficult to observe these dendrites in deformed single crystal copper wires. The structure evolution of deformed single crystal copper wires during drawing process can be divided into three stages. When the true strain is lower than 0.94, macroscopic subdivision of grains is not evident, and the microscopic evolution of deformed structure is that the cells are formed and elongated in drawn direction. When the true strain is between 0.94 and 1.96, mac- roscopic subdivision of grains takes place, and the number of microbands located on {111} and cell blocks is much more than that with the true strain lower than 0.94. When the true strain is larger than 1.96, the macroscopic subdivision of grains becomes more evident than that with the true strain between 0.94 and 1.96, and S-bands structure and lamellar boundaries will be formed. From EBSD analysis, it is found that part of <100> texture resulting from solidifying is transformed into <111> and <112> due to shear deformation, but <100> texture component is still kept in majority. When the true strain is 0.94, the misorientation angle of dislocation boundaries resulting from deformation is lower than 14°. 20Effect of erbium on properties and microstructure of Al-Si eutectic alloy显示文摘Eutectic Al-12.6 wt.%Si alloys with various contents of the rare earth element Er were prepared by the conventional casting technique. The effect of Er on the microstructure and properties of the eutectic Al-Si alloys was investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy as well as the friction and wear tests. It was found that the addition of Er obviously improved the anti-wear properties, and reduced the friction coefficient of the alloys. The appropriate addition of Er would change the size and shape of the eutectic silicon, and thereby refine the microstructure of the Al-Si alloys.
