Self-assemble peptide biomaterials and their biomedical applications显示文摘Inspired by self-assembling peptides found in native proteins, deliberately designed engineered peptides have shown outstanding biocompatibility, biodegradability, and extracellular matrix-mimicking microenvironments.Assembly of the peptides can be triggered by external stimuli, such as electrolytes, temperature, and pH.The formation of nanostructures and subsequent nanocomposite materials often occur under physiological conditions. The respective properties of side chains in each amino acids provide numerous sites for chemical modification and conjugation choices of the peptides, enabling various resulting supramolecular nanostructures and hydrogels with adjustable mechanical and physicochemical properties. Moreover, additional functionalities can be easily induced into the hydrogels, including shearthinning,bioactivity,self-healing,and shape memory. It further broaden the scope of application of self-assemble peptide materials. This review outlines designs of self-assembly peptide(β-sheet,α-helix,collagen-like peptides,elastin-like polypeptides, and peptide amphiphiles)with potential additional functionalities and their biomedical applications in bioprinting, tissue engineering, and drug delivery. | Jun Chen Xuenong Zou | 2019 | Bioactive Materials2019,4,1: | 12
Imaging through unknown scattering media based on physics-informed learning显示文摘Imaging through scattering media is one of the hotspots in the optical field, and impressive results have been demonstrated via deep learning(DL). However, most of the DL approaches are solely data-driven methods and lack the related physics prior, which results in a limited generalization capability. In this paper, through the effective combination of the speckle-correlation theory and the DL method, we demonstrate a physics-informed learning method in scalable imaging through an unknown thin scattering media, which can achieve high reconstruction fidelity for the sparse objects by training with only one diffuser. The method can solve the inverse problem with more general applicability, which promotes that the objects with different complexity and sparsity can be reconstructed accurately through unknown scattering media, even if the diffusers have different statistical properties. This approach can also extend the field of view(FOV) of traditional speckle-correlation methods. This method gives impetus to the development of scattering imaging in practical scenes and provides an enlightening reference for using DL methods to solve optical problems. | SHUO ZHU ENLAI GUO JIE GU LIANFA BAI JING HAN | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,5: | 10
Ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of novel relaxor ferroelectric single crystals PMNT显示文摘Relaxor ferroelectric single crystals PMNT with the size of φ40 mm×80 mm have been grown by a modified Bridgman method and their ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties have been characterized. The properties varied with the compositions and cut types. On the (001) cut, PMNT76/24 single crystals exhibited a dielectric constant ε of about 3 400, a dielectric loss of tanδ <0.7%, a piezoelectric constant d33 of 980 pC/N, an electromechanical coupling factor kt of 0.55 and Tc of about 110℃. whereas the properties of PMNT67/33 single crystals on (001) cut were betler: e of about 5 300, tan5 <0.6%, d33 up to 3 000 pC/N, kt 0.64, K33 0.93 and Tc of about 150℃. The piezoelectric properties on other cuts such as (110) and (111) were much lower than those on the (001) cut. The rhombohedral PMNT crystals grown by this method showed more excellent piezoelectric properties than those grown by high temperature solution method and higher value of kt than the rhombohedral PZNT single crystals. it has also | XU Guisheng LUO Haosu WANG Pingchu XU Haiqing YIN Zhiwen | 2000 | Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,6: | 10

Controlled-release Properties of Microencapsulated Disperse Dyes显示文摘Some disperse dyes were microencapsulated by means of in- situ polymerization. These microencapsulated disperse dyes was extracted respectively by ethanol under certain conditions. The controlled-release properties of disperse dyes through the shell of microcapsules were measured by spectrophotometer. According to the results, it was drawn that the type of disperse dyes, the auxiliaries contained in disperse dyes, the quantity of system controlling medium used and the core/shell ratio of microcapsules play important roles in controlling the release properties of microcapsules. The different controlled- release properties of microcapsules, which were prepared under given conditions, however, would in turn influence the performance of microcapsules in multiple-transfer printing. | 罗艳 李春燕 陈水林 | 2002 | Journal of Donghua University(English Edition)2002,19,1: | 8

First-principles-based prediction of yield strength in the RhIrPdPtNiCu high-entropy alloy显示文摘High-entropy alloys are random alloys with five or more components, often near equi-composition,that often exhibit excellent mechanical properties.Guiding the design of new materials across the wide composition space requires an ability to compute necessary underlying material parameters via ab initio methods. Here, density functional theory is used to compute the elemental misfit volumes, alloy lattice constant, elastic constants, and stable stacking fault energy in the fcc noble metal RhIrPdPtNiCu.These properties are then used in a recent theory for the temperature and strain-rate dependent yield strength. The parameter-free prediction of 583 MPa is in excellent agreement with the measured value of 527 MPa.This quantitative connection between alloy composition and yield strength, without any experimental input, motivates this general density functional theory-based methodological path for exploring new potential high-strength high-entropy alloys,in this and other alloy classes, with the chemical accuracy of first-principles methods. | Binglun Yin William A.Curtin | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019,,1: | 6

Preparation and characterization of Fe_(3)O_(4)/Au composite particles显示文摘Using Fe3O4 nano-particles as seeds, a new type of Fe3O4/Au composite particles with core/shell structure and diameter of about 170 nm was prepared by reduction of Au3+ with hydroxylamine in an aqueous solution. Particle size analyzer and transmission electron micro-scope were used to analyze the size distribution and microstructure of the particles in different conditions. The result showed that the magnetically responsive property and suspension stability of Fe3O4 seeds as well as reduction conditions of Au3+ to Au0 are the main factors which are crucial for obtaining a colloid of the Fe3O4/Au composite particles with uniform particle dispersion, excellent stability, homogeneity in particle sizes, and effective response to an external magnet in aqueous suspension solutions. UV-Vis analysis revealed that there is a characteristic peak of Fe3O4/Au fluid. For particles with d(0.5)=168 nm, the lmax is 625 nm. | CUI Yali HUI Wenli WANG Huirong WANG Lijun CHEN Chao | 2004 | Science China Chemistry2004,47,2: | 5
An efficient and accurate framework for calculating lattice thermal conductivity of solids:AFLOW-AAPL Automatic Anharmonic Phonon Library显示文摘One of the most accurate approaches for calculating lattice thermal conductivity,κ_(l),is solving the Boltzmann transport equation starting from third-order anharmonic force constants. In addition to the underlying approximations of ab-initio parameterization, two main challenges are associated with this path:high computational costs and lack of automation in the frameworks using this methodology, which affect the discovery rate of novel materials with ad-hoc properties. Here, the Automatic Anharmonic Phonon Library(AAPL)is presented. It efficiently computes interatomic force constants by making effective use of crystal symmetry analysis,it solves the Boltzmann transport equation to obtain κ_(l),and allows a fully integrated operation with minimum user intervention,a rational addition to the current high-throughput accelerated materials development framework AFLOW.An“experiment vs.theory”study of the approach is shown, comparing accuracy and speed with respect to other available packages, and for materials characterized by strong electron localization and correlation.Combining AAPL with the pseudo-hybrid functional ACBN0 is possible to improve accuracy without increasing computational requirements. | Jose J.Plata Pinku Nath Demet Usanmaz Jesus Carrete Cormac Toher Maarten de Jong Mark Asta Marco Fornari Marco Buongiorno Nardelli Stefano Curtarolo | 2017 | npj Computational Materials2017,,1: | 5
Unsupervised phase mapping of X-ray diffraction data by nonnegative matrix factorization integrated with custom clustering显示文摘Analyzing large X-ray diffraction(XRD)datasets is a key step in high-throughput mapping of the compositional phase diagrams of combinatorial materials libraries.Optimizing and automating this task can help accelerate the process of discovery of materials with novel and desirable properties. Here,we report a new method for pattern analysis and phase extraction of XRD datasets. The method expands the Nonnegative Matrix Factorization method, which has been used previously to analyze such datasets,by combining it with custom clustering and cross-correlation algorithms. This new method is capable of robust determination of the number of basis patterns present in the data which,in turn, enables straightforward identification of any possible peak-shifted patterns.Peak-shifting arises due to continuous change in the lattice constants as a function of composition and is ubiquitous in XRD datasets from composition spread libraries.Successful identification of the peak-shifted patterns allows proper quantification and classification of the basis XRD patterns, which is necessary in order to decipher the contribution of each unique single-phase structure to the multi-phase regions. The process can be utilized to determine accurately the compositional phase diagram of a system under study. The presented method is applied to one synthetic and one experimental dataset and demonstrates robust accuracy and identification abilities. | Valentin Stanev Velimir V.Vesselinov A.Gilad Kusne Graham Antoszewski Ichiro Takeuchi Boian S.Alexandrov | 2018 | npj Computational Materials2018,,1: | 5

Mechanistic connotations of restriction of intramolecular motions(RIM)显示文摘Molecules are all in constant motions, which influence their properties. For example, in photophysics, the light emission behavior of a luminogen is determined by its electronic and nuclear motions in the excited state. Flexible molecular motions usually favor nonradiative decay along with the transformation of excited-state energy to other forms such as thermal energy. Therefore, the restriction of intramolecular motions(RIM) is commonly adopted to achieve luminescent materials with high emission brightness. | Yujie Tu Zheng Zhao Jacky W.Y.Lam Ben Zhong Tang | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,6: | 4
First-principles study of ferromagnetic metal Fe5GeTe2显示文摘For next-generation flexible spin devices,it is crucial to discover and study novel high Tc two-dimensional(2D)magnetic materials considering their atomic-level thickness and flexural mechanical characteristics. Here,we investigated physical properties of a recently rediscovered ferromagnetic 2D material,Fe5GeTe2,which has near-room temperature Tc,such as stability of monolayer, and electronic and magnetic properties as well as their changes under strain using DFT method. We found that monolayer formation energy of Fe5GeTe2 lies inside the energy range of other 2D materials, and thus successful synthesis of the monolayer is expected.Band structures and density of states(DOS)calculations reveal that monolayer Fe5GeTe2 is metallic and of Stoner-type ferromagnet.Besides,we checked the strain effect on its magnetic properties. The ferromagnetic(FM)coupling is quite robust under biaxial strain and enhanced significantly with the increase of Fe magnetic moment from 1.65μBto 2.66μBwhile the strain increases from zero to+15%.Such a tunable magnetism of Fe5GeTe2 could provide an extra advantage for flexible magnetic device applications. | Minwoong Joe Unchun Yang Changgu Lee | 2019 | Nano Materials Science2019,1,4: | 4
R2R3-MYB transcription factors, StmiR858 and sucrose mediate potato flavonol biosynthesis显示文摘Flavonols and other phenylpropanoids protect plants from biotic and abiotic stress and are dietarily desirable because of their health-promoting properties. The ability to develop new potatoes(Solanum tuberosum)with optimal types and amounts of phenylpropanoids is limited by lack of knowledge about the regulatory mechanisms.Exogenous sucrose increased flavonols, whereas overexpression of the MYB StAN1 induced sucrolytic gene expression.Heterologous StAN1 protein bound promoter fragments from sucrolytic genes(SUSY1 and INV1).Two additional MYBs and one microRNA were identified that regulated potato flavonols.Overexpression analysis showed MYB12A and C increased amounts of flavonols and other phenylpropanoids.Endogenous flavonol amounts in light-exposed organs were much higher those in the dark.Expression levels of StMYB12A and C were high in flowers but low in tubers.Transient overexpression of miR858 altered potato flavonol metabolism.Endogenous StmiR858 expression was much lower in flowers than leaves and correlated with flavonol amounts in these organs.Collectively, these findings support the hypothesis that sucrose,MYBs,and miRNA control potato phenylpropanoid metabolism in a finely tuned manner that includes a feedback loop between sucrose and StAN1.These findings will aid in the development of potatoes with phenylpropanoid profiles optimized for crop performance and human health. | Sen Lin Rajesh K.Singh Moehninsi Duroy A.Navarre | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4

Studies on the phase properties of lyotropic liquid crystals of Brij35/sodium oleate/oleic acid/water system: By means of polarizing microscope, SAXS, 2H-NMR and rheological methods显示文摘The pseudo-quaternary phase diagram of Brij35/sodium oleate/oleic acid/water systems has been investigated, and the liquid crystal area has been identified, which covers about two thirds of the whole phase diagram. The liquid crystal structure and behavior have been also studied by using polarizing texture, small angle X-ray scattering, 2H-NMR and rheometer etc. The result shows that when the composition of the system changes along the line of AA′ in this large liquid crystal region, the structural change is cubic→cubic/lamellar→lamellar→lamellar/hexagonal→hexagonal. Meanwhile, we made the first attempt of systematic study of the rheological properties of the above system. | 20 | Electrorheological behavior of rare earth-doped barium titanate suspensions显示文摘Doping Y, La, Ce into barium titanate is found to be able to improve its electrorheological (ER) effect in DC electrical field. The yield stress of a typical doped barium titanate/silicone oil suspension is approximately 3.2 -*7〗kPa at 3.5 -*7〗kV/mm, which is 10 times larger than that of pure barium titanate/silicone oil suspensions. The ER effect increases with the decrease of ionic radius of rare earth (RE) dopant when RE concentration remains constant, and the suspensions exhibit a relatively high shear stress when Y, La, Ce mole fractions are 15%, 10%~15%, and 5%, respectively. Dielectric measurements show that the suitable doping with RE element increases dielectric loss of barium titanate and causes very marked dielectric relaxation at low frequency. By measuring X-ray diffraction patterns of doped barium titanate, it is considered that the occurrence of lattice distortion or defects may be responsible for the change of dielectric properties which results in the improvement of ER effect of barium titanate in DC electrical field. | YIN Jianbo, GUAN Litao and ZHAO Xiaopeng(Institute of Electrorheological Technology, Department of Applied Physics, Northwestern Ploytechnical University, Xi an 710072, China) | 2002 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2002,12,4: | 4
