Development of and Perspective on High-Performance Nanostructured Bainitic Bearing Steel显示文摘Bearings are the most important component of nearly all mechanical equipment, as they guarantee the steady running of the equipment, which is especially important for high-end equipment such as highspeed trains and shield tunneling machines. Requirements regarding the quality of bearings are increasing with the rapid development in technology. A country’s bearings manufacturing level directly reflects the level of that country’s steel metallurgy and machinery manufacturing. The performance of the bearing steel is the critical factor that determines the quality of a bearing. The development of new bearing steel with higher performance is the ambition of material researchers and the expectation of the manufacturing industry. Many famous bearing manufacturing enterprises are competing to develop the new generation of bearing steel. Nanostructured bainitic bearing steel (NBBS), which is a newly developed bearing steel, not only possesses high strength and toughness, but also exhibits excellent wear resistance and rolling contact fatigue (RCF) resistance. In recent years, relevant achievements in NBBS in China have led to significant progress in this field. NBBS was first used in China to manufacture large bearings for wind turbines and heavy-duty bearings, with excellent performance. As a result, NBBS and its corresponding heat-treatment process have been included in the national and industry standards for the first time. The bearing industry considers the exploitation of NBBS to be epoch-making, and has termed this kind of bearing as the second generation of bainitic bearing. In this paper, the development of NBBS is reviewed in detail, including its advantages and disadvantages. Further research directions for NBBS are also proposed. | Fucheng Zhang Zhinan Yang | 2019 | Engineering2019,5,2: | 29
Toward a better understanding of microbiologically influenced corrosion caused by sulfate reducing bacteria显示文摘Sulfate reducing bacteria(SRB) are often the culprits of microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) in anoxic environments because sulfate is a ubiquitous oxidant. MIC of carbon steel caused by SRB is the most intensively investigated topic in MIC because of its practical importance. It is also because biogenic sulfides complicate mechanistic SRB MIC studies, making SRB MIC of carbon steel is a long-lasting topic that has generated considerable confusions. It is expedient to think that biogenic H_2S secreted by SRB acidifies the broth because it is an acid gas. However, this is not true because endogenous H_2S gets its H^+ from organic carbon oxidation and the fluid itself in the first place rather than an external source. Many people believe that biogenic H_2S is responsible for SRB MIC of carbon steel. However, in recent years, well designed mechanistic studies provided evidence that contradicts this misconception. Experimental data have shown that cathodic electron harvest by an SRB biofilm from elemental iron via extracellular electron transfer(EET) for energy production by SRB is the primary cause. It has been demonstrated that when a mature SRB biofilm is subjected to carbon source starvation, it switches to elemental iron as an electron source and becomes more corrosive. It is anticipated that manipulations of EET related genes will provide genetic-level evidence to support the biocathode theory in the future. This kind of new advances will likely lead to new gene probes or transcriptomics tools for detecting corrosive SRB strains that possess high EET capabilities. | Tingyue Gu Ru Jia Tuba Unsal Dake Xu | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,4: | 28
Effects of rare earth on inclusions and corrosion resistance of 10PCuRE weathering steel显示文摘The types, morphologies and distributions of nonmetallic inclusions in Cu-P weathering steels with and without rare earth were analyzed through a quantitative image analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) attached to SEM. Solid-soluble content of rare earth in the steels was analyzed by non-aqua electroanalysis and ICP. The results showed that rare earth modified the types and the morphologies of inclusions in the weathering steels. The small spherical rare earth oxysulfides and rare earth sulphides replaced the elongated MnS inclusions in the RE weathering steels. The rare earth inclusions dispersedly distributed and most inclusions were smaller than 2 μm in size. The optimum content of RE was 0.0065%-0.016% for 10PCuRE weathering steels containing about 0.002% oxygen and 0.004% sulfur. Solid-soluble content of rare earth in steels was (14-20)×10-6, which can act as a micro-alloying element. The corrosion resistance of 10PCuRE weathering steels and Q235 were studied by dry-wet cyclic immersion test. Their corrosion rates were obtained respectively. The polarization curves and pitting corrosion behaviors of weathering steels with and without rare earth were measured by electrochemical methods. The corrosion resistance of Cu-P weathering steels was improved by adding an appropriate amount of rare earth. Less and fewer rare earth inclusions largely decreased pitting susceptibility and rate of pit propagation. The pitting potential and the resistance against pitting corrosion of the RE weathering steel were significantly improved due to the modification of rare earth to inclusions. | 岳丽杰 王龙妹 韩金生 | 2010 | Journal of Rare Earths2010,28,6: | 25
Effects of rare earth elements on inclusions and impact toughness of high-carbon chromium bearing steel显示文摘High-carbon chromium bearing steels with different rare earth (RE) contents were prepared to investigate the effects of RE on inclusions and impact toughness by different techniques. The results showed that RE addition could modify irregular Al2O3 and MnS into regular RE inclusions. With the increase of RE content, the reaction sequence of RE and potential inclusion forming elements should be O, S, As, P and C successively. RE inclusions containing C might precipitate in molten steel and solid state, but the precipitation tem perature was significantly higher than that of carbides in high-carbon chromium bearing steel. For experim ental bearing steels, the volume fraction of inclusions increased steadily with the increase of RE content, but smaller and more dispersed inclusions could be obtained by 0.018% RE content compared with bearing steel without RE, whereas the continuous increase of RE content led to an increasing trend for inclusion size and a gradual deterioration for inclusion distribution. RE addition could improve the transverse impact toughness and isotropy of bearing steel, and for modified highcarbon chrom ium bearing steel by RE alloying, the increase of RE content continuously increased both transverse and longitudinal im pact toughness until excessive RE addition. | Chaoyun Yang Yikun Luan Dianzhong Li Yiyi Li | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,7: | 22
Mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of selective laser melted 316L stainless steel after different heat treatment processes显示文摘Irregular grains, high interfacial stresses and anisotropic properties widely exist in 3D-printed metallic materials, and this paper investigated the effects of heat treatment on the microstructural, mechanical and corrosion properties of 316 L stainless steel fabricated by selective laser melting. Sub-grains and low-angle boundaries exist in the as-received selective laser melted(SLMed) 316 L stainless steel. After heat treatment at 1050℃, the sub-grains and low-angle boundaries changed slightly, and the stress state and strength decreased to some extent due to the decrease of dislocation density. After heat treatment at 1200℃, the grains became uniform, and the dislocation cells vanished, which led to a sharp decline in the hardness and strength. However, the ductility was improved after recrystallization heat treatment. The passive film thickness and corrosion potential of the SLMed 316 L stainless steel decreased after heat treatment, and the pitting potential also decreased due to the accelerated transition from metastable to steady-state pitting;this accelerated transition was caused by the presence of weak passive films at the enlarged pores after heat treatment, especially for an adequate solid solution treatment. | Decheng Kong Chaofang Dong Xiaoqing Ni Liang Zhang Jizheng Yao Cheng Man Xuequn Cheng Kui Xiao Xiaogang Li | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,7: | 23

The experimental results show that microalloying of V Ti and Nb can improve the anti-seismic propersties of steel bars. | 10 | Hysteretic behavior of special shaped columns composed of steel and reinforced concrete(SRC)显示文摘This paper describes a series of experimental investigations on seventeen specimens of steel reinforced concrete special shaped(SRCSS) columns under low cyclic reversed loading using parallel crosshead equipment. Nine T-shaped SRC columns, four L-shaped SRC columns and four +-shaped SRC columns were tested to examine the effects of shape steel confi guration, loading angle, axial compressive ratio and shear-span ratio on the behavior(strength, stiffness, energy dissipation, ductility, etc.) of SRCSS column specimens. The failure modes and hysteretic performance of all the specimens were obtained in the tests. Test results demonstrate that the shear-span ratio is the main parameter affecting the failure modes of SRCSS columns. The specimens with small shear-span ratio are prone to shear failure, and the primary failure planes in SRCSS columns are parallel to the loading direction. As a result, there is a symmetry between positive and negative loading directions in the hysteretic curves of the SRCSS columns. The majority of displacement ductility coeffi cients for all the specimens are over 3.0, so that the SRCSS columns demonstrate a better deformation capacity. In addition, the equivalent viscous damping coeffi cients of all the specimens are greater than 0.2, indicating that the seismic behavior of SRCSS columns is adequate. Finally, the superposition theory was used to calculate the limits of axial compressive ratio for the specimens, and it is found that the test axial compressive ratio is close to or smaller than the calculated axial compressive ratio limit. | Chen Zongping Xu Jinjun Xue Jianyang | 2015 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2015,14,2: | 17 |
Effect of tannic acid on corrosion behavior of carbon steel in NaCl solution显示文摘Corrosion behavior of unrusted Q235 carbon steel was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solutions with 1–5 wt%tannic acid addition, using electrochemical methods including electrochemical impedance spectra(EIS),potentiodynamic polarization and scanning vibrating electrode technique(SVET) combined with surface analysis. Results show that the corrosion rate decreases with increasing tannic acid concentration. As compared with tannic acid-free solution, 1% tannic acid does not provide inhibition effect during the whole immersion, while inhibition effect is observed for 3% tannic acid after 8 h and for 5% tannic acid after 4 h. The inhibition efficiency by weight loss measurements(áw) for 1%, 3%, and 5% tannic is around-17.2%, 40.3%, and 51.5%, respectively. Corrosion of unrusted carbon steel in the presence of tannic acid is attributed to the joint effect of tannic acid adsorption and pH decrease. Formation of ferric-tannates is verified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and Raman spectra. The reaction mechanism between tannic acid and unrusted carbon steel is proposed. | Wenhua Xu En-Hou Han Zhenyu Wang | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,1: | 16
Crack stop holes in steel bridge decks:Drilling method and effects显示文摘Force analysis using a compact tension model, as recommended by ASTM, was carried out on a crack stop hole. The stress before, and after, drilling the hole was compared in terms of stress concentration and stress gradient. The optimum drilling location and diameter were studied through analysis of different locations and diameters. By analyzing the effects of flank holes and an additional hole, drilling advice was proposed and fatigue testing of the cracks in a steel bridge deck with a crack stop hole was conducted. The results show that the stress at the crack tip with a crack stop hole decreased, and the major principal stress around the hole was distributed accordingly. The optimum position of the crack stop hole centre was where the centre of the crack stop hole was situated behind the crack and the hole edge coincided with the crack tip. Therefore, hole diameters larger than 8 mm, or those weakening the section by 10%, were suggested as the best diameters. In terms of multi-hole crack stopping, a flank hole was not recommended. The optimum horizontal position of flank holes was at a distance of 1/4 of a single hole diameter from, and in front of, the single hole. Besides, the experiment showed that crack stop hole could only prevent cracks from growing and had no influence on crack growth rate. | 傅中秋 吉伯海 谢曙辉 刘天笳 | 2017 | Journal of Central South University2017,24,10: | 16
New Duplex Microstructure of Grain Boundary Allotriomorphic Ferrite/Granular Bainite显示文摘As-rolled microstructure and mechanical properties of a new kind of grain boundary allotriomorphic ferrite/granular bainite duplex steel plate and its crack propagation behavior were investigated in comparison with simple granular bainitic steel plate. These new duplex plate steels possess better combination of strength and toughness than granular bainite plate steels under the conditions of conventional rolling and air-cooling. The observation of fatigue crack propagation behaviors showed that the existence of proper grain boundary allotriomorphic ferrite increases the compatible deformation ability of duplex microstructure and leads to the formation of crack branching and curving route, and it has an evidently blunting effect on microcrack tip and results in higher impact toughness. In addition, the new duplex steel plate also has good weldability as hot-rolled high strength low alloy structural steel. | XU Ping-guang FANG Hong-sheng BAI Bing-zhe WANG Zhen-jia YANG Zhi-gang HUANG Jin-feng | 2002 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2002,9,2: | 16
Recovery of heavy metals from electroplating sludge and stainless steel pickle waste liquid by ammonia leaching method显示文摘A coordinative disposal process for treatment of electroplating sludge and stainless steel pickle waste liquid containing Cu, Ni, Zn, Cr and Fe etc., has been developed to recover valuable metals and to eliminate pollution. The recovery of Cu, Ni, Zn and Cr is 94%, 91%, 90% and 95%, respectively. The ammonia was recycled by the simplified process of CaO caustic distillation. The precipitated product of Cu, Ni and Zn obtained from caustic distillation of ammonia was separated by extraction or high\|pressure hydrogen reduction in an autoclave. The qualified metal salt products were obtained through extraction. The rich chromium residue from coordinative disposal was subjected to recover Cr by hydrothermal oxidation in NaOH medium and Fe\-3O\-4 was synthesized by wet methods from the residue produced by extracting Cr. Cr was a stable chemical fixed in Fe\-3O\-4 and harmless. The recovery process has been used in a pilot plant with sludge production capacity of 2000 t/a. | Zhang Yi, Wang Zhi\|kuan, Xu Xia, Chen Yong\|qi, Qi Tao Institute of Chemical Metallurgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences,P.O. | 15 | Weldability, microstructure and mechanical properties of laser-welded selective laser melted 304 stainless steel joints显示文摘Laser welding is a promising process for joining small components produced by selective laser melting (SLM) to fabricate the large-scale and complex-shaped parts. In the work, the morphology, microstructure, microhardness, tensile properties and corrosion resistance of the laser welded stress-relieved SLMed 304 stainless steel joints are investigated, as the different sections of stress-relieved SLMed 304 stainless steel are joined. Results show that the SLMed 304 stainless steel plates have a good laser weldability. The microstructure of laser-welded joints consists of the cellular dendrites in austenite matrix within columnar grains, exhibiting a coarser dendrite structure, lower microhardness (~220HV) and tensile properties (tensile strength of ~750 MPa, and area reduction of ~27.6%), but superior corrosion resistance to those of SLMed plates. The dendrite arm spacing of the joints varies from ~3.7μm in center zone, to ~5.0 (xm in fusion zone, to ~2.5 in epitaxial zone. The SLMed anisotropy shows a negligible effect on the microstructure and performance of the laser-welded joints. The laser welding along the building directions of the SLMed base plates can induce a slightly finer dendritic structure and higher tensile properties. | Jingjing Yang Yun Wang Fangzhi Li Wenpu Huang Guanyi Jing Zemin Wang Xiaoyan Zeng | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,9: | 14

Microstructures of brazing zone between titanium alloy and stainless steel using various filler metals显示文摘Titanium alloy (Ti-Al-V alloy) substrate was brazed with stainless steel (STS304) using filler metal. At an optimized brazing condition, various filler metals were used.Microstructures were observed at each condition.Filler metals were titanium based 40Ti-20Zr-20Cu-20Ni,silver based Ag 5Pd,and nickel based Ni-7Cr-3.1B-4.5Si-3Fe-0.06C (BNi2) and Ni-14Cr-10P-0.06C (BNi7).To select a good filler metal for brazing process, wetting test was performed at 880-1050 °C.It was not brazed using silver based filler metals, but at the conditions using titanium and nickel based filler metals had brazed zone between titanium alloy and stainless steel. However, titanium alloy was eroded during brazing using titanium based filler metals.Nickel based filler metal has a good brazed zone between titanium alloy and stainless steel among the filler metals. | Taeshin CHUNG Jungsoo KIM Jeongseok BANG Byoungho RHEE Daegeun NAM | 2012 | 中国有色金属学会会刊:英文版2012,22,S3: | 12
Characteristics of TIG arc-assisted laser welding–brazing joint of aluminum to galvanized steel with preset filler powder显示文摘Tungsten inert gas(TIG) arc-assisted laser welding–brazing was used for the butt joining of 5A06 aluminum alloy to the galvanized steel by preset filler powder without groove. The spreading behavior of liquid metal on the back of the galvanized steel at different assisted welding currents was also investigated. The results show that the assisted TIG arc optimizes the interface reaction temperature, enhances the wettability of liquid metal on the steel side, and forms a sound butt joint at an appropriate welding current. A non-uniform intermetallic compound is formed at the interfacial layer, which is composed of Fe2Al5 close to the steel substrate and Fe4Al13 close to the solidified aluminum. The superior tensile strength of joint is indicated when the welding current ranges from 13 to 16 A. The average tensile strength can reach 151 MPa at the welding current of 16 A, and the corresponding fracture belongs to the ductile and brittle hybrid mode. | Chun-Ling Li Ding Fan Bin Wang | 2015 | Rare Metals2015,34,9: | 12
Tribocorrosion behavior in artificial seawater and anti-microbiologically influenced corrosion properties of TiSiN-Cu coating on F690 steel显示文摘The TiSiN-Cu nanocomposite coating was deposited on F690 steel substrate by arc ion plating. The structure and composition, tribocorrosion behavior and anti-microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC)properties of TiSiN-Cu coating were investigated. The results show that the TiSiN-Cu coating has unique nanocomposite structures. The results of tribocorrosion show that the potential and current change of F690 steel and TiSiN-Cu coatings tend to be opposite. The reason is that the F690 steel is non-passivated metal and the TiSiN-Cu coating has passivation phenomenon. The TiSiN-Cu coating possesses excellent tribocorrosion resistance. Cu ion released from TiSiN-Cu coating can effectively inhibit the corrosion caused by SRB. | Fuliang Ma Jinlong Li Zhixiang Zeng Yimin Gao | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,3: | 12
Experimental study on the seismic behavior of high strength concrete fi lled double-tube columns显示文摘To study the seismic behavior of high strength concrete fi lled double-tube(CFDT) columns, each consisting of an external square steel tube and an internal circular steel tube,quasi-static tests on eight CFDT column specimens were conducted. The test variables included the width-to-thickness ratio(β1) and the area ratio(β2) of the square steel tube, the wall thickness of the circular steel tube, and the axial force(or the axial force ratio) applied to the CFDT columns. The test results indicate that for CFDT columns with a square steel tube with β1 of 50.1 and 24.5,local buckling of the specimen was found at a drift ratio of 1/150 and 1/50,respectively.The lateral force-displacement hysteretic loops of all specimens were plump and stable.Reducing the width-to-thickness ratio of the square steel tube, increasing its area ratio,or increasing the wall thickness of the internal circular steel tube, led to an increased fl exural strength and deformation capacity of the specimens.Increasing the design value of the axial force ratio from 0.8 to 1.0 may increase the fl exural strength of the specimens, while it may also decrease the ultimate deformation capacity of the specimen with β1 of 50.1. | Qian Jiaru Li Ningbo Ji Xiaodong Zhao Zuozhou | 2014 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2014,13,1: | 12
