1Spatial distribution of air temperature and relative humidity in the greenhouse as affected by external shading in arid climates显示文摘The effect of external roof shading on the spatial distribution of air temperature and relative humidity in a greenhouse(Tin and RHin) was evaluated under the arid climatic conditions of Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia. Two identical, evaporatively-cooled, single-span greenhouses were used in the experiment. One greenhouse was externally shaded(Gs) using a movable black plastic net(30% transmissivity), and the other greenhouse was kept without shading(Gc). Strawberry plants were cultivated in both greenhouses. The results showed that the spatial distribution of the Tin and RHin was significantly affected by the outside solar radiation and evaporative cooling operation. The regression analysis showed that when the outside solar radiation intensity increased from 200 to 800 W m–2, the Tin increased by 4.5℃ in the Gc and 2℃in the Gs, while the RHin decreased by 15% in the Gc and 5% in the Gs, respectively. Compared with those in the Gc, more uniformity in the spatial distribution of the Tin and RHin was observed in the Gs. The difference between the maximum and minimum Tin of 6.4℃ and the RHin of 10% was lower in the Gs than those in the Gc during the early morning. Around 2℃ difference in the Tin was shown between the area closed to the exhausted fans and the area closed to the cooling pad with the external shading. In an evaporatively-cooled greenhouse in arid regions, the variation of the Tin and RHin in the vertical direction and along the sidewalls was much higher than that in the horizontal direction. The average variation of the Tin and RHin in the vertical direction was 5.2℃ and 10% in the Gc and 5.5℃ and 13% in the Gs, respectively. 3An Effective Online Collaborative Training in Developing Listening Comprehension Skills显示文摘The COVID-19 outbreak severely affected formal face-to-face classroom teaching and learning.ICT-based online education and training can be a useful measure during the pandemic.In the Pakistani educational context,the use of ICT-based online training is generally sporadic and often unavailable,especially for developing English-language instructors’listening comprehension skills.The major factors affecting availability include insufficient IT resources and infrastructure,a lack of proper online training for speech and listening,instructors with inadequate academic backgrounds,and an unfavorable environment for ICT-based training for listening comprehension.This study evaluated the effectiveness of ICT-based training for developing secondary-level English-language instructors’listening comprehension skills.To this end,collaborative online training was undertaken using random sampling.Specifically,60 private-school instructors in Chakwal District,Pakistan,were randomly selected to receive online-listening training sessions using English dialogs.The experimental group achieved significant scores in the posttest analysis.Specifically,there were substantial improvements in the participants’listening skills via online training.Given the unavailability of face-to-face learning during COVID-19,this study recommends using ICT-based online training to enhance listening comprehension skills.Education policymakers should revise curricula based on online teaching methods and modules.Shakeel Ahmed Munazza Ambreen Muneer Ahmad Abdulellah A.Alaboudi Roobaea Alroobaea NZ Jhanjhi 2021Computer Systems Science & Engineering2021,38,8:0
4Performance Comparison of Deep CNN Models for Detecting Driver’s Distraction显示文摘According to various worldwide statistics,most car accidents occur solely due to human error.The person driving a car needs to be alert,especially when travelling through high traffic volumes that permit high-speed transit since a slight distraction can cause a fatal accident.Even though semiautomated checks,such as speed detecting cameras and speed barriers,are deployed,controlling human errors is an arduous task.The key causes of driver’s distraction include drunken driving,conversing with co-passengers,fatigue,and operating gadgets while driving.If these distractions are accurately predicted,the drivers can be alerted through an alarm system.Further,this research develops a deep convolutional neural network(deep CNN)models for predicting the reason behind the driver’s distraction.The deep CNN models are trained using numerous images of distracted drivers.The performance of deep CNN models,namely the VGG16,ResNet,and Xception network,is assessed based on the evaluation metrics,such as the precision score,the recall/sensitivity score,the F1 score,and the specificity score.The ResNet model outperformed all other models as the best detection model for predicting and accurately determining the drivers’activities.Kathiravan Srinivasan Lalit Garg Debajit Datta Abdulellah A.Alaboudi N.Z.Jhanjhi Rishav Agarwal Anmol George Thomas 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,9:0

6From Planning to Execution:Delving into the Crucial Role and Challenges of HEPPUs in Hospital Emergency Management显示文摘In 2018,the Emergency,Disasters and Ambulatory Transportation General Department at the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia established hospital emergency planning and preparation units(HEPPUs)to improve hospitals’ability to respond to disasters.This study aimed to gain an in-depth understanding of the functioning of HEPPUs within hospitals in the western region of Saudi Arabia.Qualitative research methodology and semistructured interviews with emergency managers were employed.Four key themes emerged from the data:establishment and evolution,roles and responsibilities,communication and coordination,and challenges and limitations.The findings emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration,effective communication,and responses to challenges in enhancing healthcare resilience and disaster management.This study contributes insights and offers practical recommendations for improving the preparedness and performance of HEPPUs within Saudi Arabian hospitals.Ashjan Alharazi Abdulellah Al Thobaity 2023International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2023,14,5:0
