| 6 | Restrictive Relative Clauses in Zahrani Spoken Arabic:A Minimalist Approach显示文摘This paper offers a thorough description of restrictive relative clauses in Zahrani Spoken Arabic(henceforth ZSA).It also provides a transformational analysis within Minimalist syntax.Restrictive relatives are classified into two types:definite relatives and indefinite relatives.The former type is initiated by the relativizer illi:“that”and modifies a definite antecedent/head noun,and the latter modifies an indefinite antecedent and lacks the relativizer illi:Two relativization strategies are available for ZSA restrictive relative clauses.The first strategy is the employment of resumptive clitics or pronouns,and the second one relates to the utilization of gaps.There is an alternation between the resumptive strategy and the gap strategy in subject and direct object positions.The optional use of gaps in direct object position is only possible when the relativized noun is definite.However,only the resumptive clitic is utilized in other positions(indirect object,prepositional object,and possessor position).In non-island contexts,both relative clauses involving gaps or resumptive clitics are accounted for by an empty operator movement.In island contexts,the null operator movement is not assumed. | Issa AlQurashi Salih Alzahrani | 2023 | US-China Foreign Language2023，21，9： | 0 |
| 7 | An Assessment of English Instruction for Elementary-Level Students in Jeddah Governorate, as Perceived by English Supervisors and Educators显示文摘This study investigated the perceptions of English educators and supervisors in Jeddah Governorate regarding the process of teaching English to elementary students.A survey was conducted using a sample size of 94 educators and 10 supervisors.The data indicate that respondents considered English instruction at the elementary level essential for expanding kids’perspectives,improving academic performance,and promoting international involvement.The main advantages cited are the development of English language skills and the promotion of early education.Although not as easily noticeable,the disadvantages include potential negative impacts on an individual’s proficiency in Arabic and their sense of national identification.The highlighted challenges encompass insufficient teacher training,student reluctance towards English,limited resources,and school disparities.The proposed techniques focused on prioritizing English instructors’training,ensuring the use of appropriate content,utilizing technology,and promoting awareness of students and educators.The current research found different obstacles in teaching English at elementary stages.To overcome these obstacles,it will be essential to enhance teacher competencies,develop efficient teaching methods,get the backing of stakeholders,assign adequate resources,and carry out continuous evaluations.Further research can also contribute to a better understanding of how early English learning impacts on Arabic identity and proficiency. | Issa AlQurashi | 2024 | Sino-US English Teaching2024，21，2： | 0 |
| 8 | Clitics in Standard Arabic显示文摘This paper offers a description of weak and strong pronouns in Standard Arabic(SA)with a special focus on the object pronominals,and discusses their views as affixes,clitics,or incorporated pronouns.The discussion involves a comparison of object pronominals between Standard Arabic and some colloquial Arabic varieties on the one hand,and Romance languages on the other hand.A brief overview of the distinction between clitics and affixes is also presented.It has been shown that pronominal clitics in Arabic in general and in SA in particular exhibit distinct properties which make them different from other clitics existing in Romance languages.Such distinctive properties comprise their appearance on all lexical and some functional categories,the constant right-adjunction to their hosts,and the lack of overt Case distinctions manifestation,i.e.,there is no clear-cut boundary for the Case-marker morpheme,unlike Determiner Phrases(DPs).The last property concerns their attachment to the closest head;the movement involves only one simple head-to-head movement.All these features associated with Arabic clitics are different from their counterparts in Romance languages.In addition,it has been observed that verbs,nouns,and prepositions do not agree with their object complements.These properties and observations lead to the conclusion that object attached pronouns in Arabic are best viewed as incorporated pronouns rather than clitics or agreement markers. | Issa AlQurashi | 2024 | US-China Foreign Language2024，22，2： | 0 |
| 9 | Vital Parameters Assessments of Starvation Tolerance of in vitro Populus alba Culture显示文摘Populus alba is a large woody deciduous plant.The plant has been introduced to shooting,then multiplication of rooting on Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium.This work was designed to estimate the effect of two factors(low levels of 1-Naphthaleneacetic acid NAA and sucrose)on P.alba response resulting in 6 treatments compared to the control,with twelve measured responses.There was a significant difference in some measurements in morphology,like plantlets fresh-weight,shoot-,root-length,and leaf number.In the physiological measurements,there were significant differences in all the measured parameters.The low concentrations of sucrose and media composition/power(MS grams/L)led to starvation in plants;however,these conditions led to enhancement in some morphological and physiological parameters to overcome the starvation effect,compared to the control.The RAPD-PCR molecular marker(four decamers)was used to evaluate the new individuals’genetic variation(instability),resulting in a total polymorphism percentage of 50.83%.It was formerly known that the plantlets were identical to each other and to the mother plant.In this study,however,the use of distinct media power,hormonal and sucrose levels resulted in molecular variation reflected in P.alba’s morphological and physiological responses. | Mohamed Fathy Ahmed Eman Zakaria Ahmed Salman Aloufi Mohammed Alqurashi Amal Alyamani Eman Fayad Eman Tawfik Hussien | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022，91，4： | 0 |
