| 1 | Dietary sources and their effects on animal production and environmental sustainability显示文摘Animal agriculture has been an important component in the integrated farming systems in developing countries. It serves in a paramount diversified role in producing animal protein food, draft power, farm manure as well as ensuring social status-quo and enriching livelihood. Ruminants are importantly contributable to the well-being and the livelihood of the global population. Ruminant production systems can vary from subsistence to intensive type of farming depending on locality, resource availability,infrastructure accessibility, food demand and market potentials. The growing demand for sustainable animal production is compelling to researchers exploring the potential approaches to reduce greenhouse gases(GHG) emissions from livestock. Global warming has been an issue of concern and importance for all especially those engaged in animal agriculture. Methane(CH_4) is one of the major GHG accounted for at least 14% of the total GHG with a global warming potential 25-fold of carbon dioxide and a 12-year atmospheric lifetime. Agricultural sector has a contribution of 50 to 60% methane emission and ruminants are the major source of methane contribution(15 to 33%). Methane emission by enteric fermentation of ruminants represents a loss of energy intake(5 to 15% of total) and is produced by methanogens(archae) as a result of fermentation end-products. Ruminants' digestive fermentation results in fermentation end-products of volatile fatty acids(VFA), microbial protein and methane production in the rumen. Rumen microorganisms including bacteria, protozoa and fungal zoospores are closely associated with the rumen fermentation efficiency. Besides using feed formulation and feeding management, local feed resources have been used as alternative feed additives for manipulation of rumen ecology with promising results for replacement in ruminant feeding. Those potential feed additive practices are as follows: 1) the use of plant extracts or plants containing secondary compounds(e.g., condensed tannins and saponins) such as mangosteen peel powder, rain tree pod; 2) plants rich in minerals, e.g., banana flower powder; and 3) plant essential oils, e.g., garlic, eucalyptus leaf powder, etc. Implementation of the-feed-system using cash crop and leguminous shrubs or fodder trees are of promising results. | Metha Wanapat Anusorn Cherdthong Kampanat Phesatcha Sungchhang Kang | 2015 | Animal Nutrition2015,,3: | 5 |

| 10 | Effect of ground corn cobs as a fiber source in total mixed ration on feed intake,milk yield and milk composition in tropical lactating crossbred Holstein cows显示文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ground corn cobs(GCC) as a sole fiber source in total mixed ration(TMR) on feed intake, milk yield and milk composition in tropical lactating crossbred Holstein cows. Four multiparous crossbreds Holstein Friesian dairy cows with an initial body weight(BW) of 415.5 ± 26.20 kg were used in a 4 x 4 Latin square design. The dietary treatments of TMR contained a roughage-to-concentrate ratio of 40:60. The roughage source was used at different ratios of GCC to rice straw(RS) at 100:0, 82.5:17.5, 67.5:32.5, and 50:50 for TMR1 to TMR4, respectively. The results revealed significant improvements in intake of dry matter, protein,neutral detergent fiber(NDF)and metabolizable energy(ME) for TMR1 and TMR2(P < 0.05), while the digestibility of nutrients was not altered by the treatments(P > 0.05). Ground corn cobs was used for up to 100% of the total roughage without affecting milk production. Moreover, ruminal pH, temperature, ammonia-nitrogen(NH_3-N) and volatile fatty acid(VFA) concentrations were not impacted by the treatments(P> 0.05). However, milk yield was significantly different among the GCC:RS ratios(P < 0.05) and was the highest in TMR1 and TMR2(13.1 kg/d), while the milk compositions were not changed(P > 0.05). | 13 | Effect of vehicle safety recalls on the perception towards other vehicles from the same country of origin显示文摘A vehicle safety recall significantly impacts the demand for these specific manufacturer vehicles.The effect of this recall on the other manufacturers from the same country of origin(COO) that are not involved in the recall is poorly understood.The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of a vehicle safety recall on other vehicle brands originating from the same COO.The study uses a case study related to Toyota recalls and the impact of the crises on the attitudes toward three other Japanese brands-namely,Honda,Nissan,and Mazda.A questionnaire was conducted with 375 participants who are familiar with the recalls.The findings from the questionnaire indicated that product-harm crises have an indirect negative effect on brands from the same COO.Thus,brands from the transgressor’s COO should not make the transgressor’s betrayal salient,which might hurt their brands.For example,if Honda makes the betrayal of Toyota salient through comparative advertising,Honda’s efforts might hurt the company directly through consumers’ image of Japanese products.Future research should examine the extent to which comparative advertising impacts non-transgressing brands that originate from the same country as the transgressing brand.The current results suggest that the non-transgressing companies might even assist the transgressing company to recover from such crises if consumers perceive a strong association between the non-transgressing brands and transgressing brands. | Khaled Shaaban Amro Maher Anusorn Singhapakdi | 2019 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2019,6,5: | 0 |
| 14 | Instance reduction for supervised learning using input-output clustering method显示文摘A method that applies clustering technique to reduce the number of samples of large data sets using input-output clustering is proposed.The proposed method clusters the output data into groups and clusters the input data in accordance with the groups of output data.Then,a set of prototypes are selected from the clustered input data.The inessential data can be ultimately discarded from the data set.The proposed method can reduce the effect from outliers because only the prototypes are used.This method is applied to reduce the data set in regression problems.Two standard synthetic data sets and three standard real-world data sets are used for evaluation.The root-mean-square errors are compared from support vector regression models trained with the original data sets and the corresponding instance-reduced data sets.From the experiments,the proposed method provides good results on the reduction and the reconstruction of the standard synthetic and real-world data sets.The numbers of instances of the synthetic data sets are decreased by 25%-69%.The reduction rates for the real-world data sets of the automobile miles per gallon and the 1990 census in CA are 46% and 57%,respectively.The reduction rate of 96% is very good for the electrocardiogram(ECG) data set because of the redundant and periodic nature of ECG signals.For all of the data sets,the regression results are similar to those from the corresponding original data sets.Therefore,the regression performance of the proposed method is good while only a fraction of the data is needed in the training process. | YODJAIPHET Anusorn THEERA-UMPON Nipon AUEPHANWIRIYAKUL Sansanee | 2015 | Journal of Central South University2015,22,12: | 0 |
