1Carbon mineralization in subtropical alluvial arable soils amended with sugarcane bagasse and rice husk biochars显示文摘Subtropical recent alluvial soils are low in organic carbon(C).Thus,increasing organic C is a major challenge to sustain soil fertility.Biochar amendment could be an option as biochar is a C-rich pyrolyzed material,which is slowly decomposed in soil.We investigated C mineralization(CO_(2)-C evolution)in two types of soils(recent and old alluvial soils)amended with two feedstocks(sugarcane bagasse and rice husk)(1%,weight/weight),as well as their biochars and aged biochars under a controlled environment(25±2℃)over 85 d.For the recent alluvial soil(charland soil),the highest absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution was observed in the sugarcane bagasse treatment(1140 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)followed by the rice husk treatment(1090 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil);the lowest amount(150 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was observed in the aged rice husk biochar treatment.Similarly,for the old alluvial soil(farmland soil),the highest absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution(1290 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was observed in the sugarcane bagasse treatment and then in the rice husk treatment(1270 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil);the lowest amount(200 mg CO_(2)-C kg^(-1)soil)was in the aged rice husk biochar treatment.Aged sugarcane bagasse and rice husk biochar treatments reduced absolute cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution by 10%and 36%,respectively,compared with unamended recent alluvial soil,and by 10%and 18%,respectively,compared with unamended old alluvial soil.Both absolute and normalized C mineralization were similar between the sugarcane bagasse and rice husk treatments,between the biochar treatments,and between the aged biochar treatments.In both soils,the feedstock treatments resulted in the highest cumulative CO_(2)-C evolution,followed by the biochar treatments and then the aged biochar treatments.The absolute and normalized CO_(2)-C evolution and the mineralization rate constant of the stable C pool(K_(s))were lower in the recent alluvial soil compared with those in the old alluvial soil.The biochars and aged biochars had a negative priming effect in both soils,but the effect was more prominent in the recent alluvial soil.These results would have good implications for improving organic matter content in organic C-poor alluvial soils.Mohammad Arifur RAHMAN Mohammad Abdul KADER Mohammad JAHIRUDDIN Mohammad Rafiqul ISLAM Zakaria Mohammad SOLAIMAN 2022Pedosphere2022,32,3:2

15Mortuary Rite Among the Mishing Tribe in aRural Context of Assam显示文摘Death is one of the urgent crises event in human society that occur during the lifecycle of each individual. It has anintegral relation with religion, especially with rites and rituals, through which the deceased person is appeased withthe intervention of supernatural. FurtherInore, the death rites, popularly known as funeral rites, which incorporatethe deceased into the world of the dead are more extensively elaborated and assigned the greatest importance.Mourning is integral element related with the death and during the event social life is suspended for all thoseaffected by it and length of the period increases with the closeness of social ties with the deceased. 17Change in Adaptability of Residential Architecture:Spatial Analysis on Traditional and Contemporary Houses of Bangladesh显示文摘This study focused on spatial analysis to identify the changes in adaptability over the last five decades.The features influencing adaptability were selected from the reference study.An appropriate method was used to analyse these features through spatial analysis.Six distinctive typologies of rural houses were selected from six regions.Unlike the traditional houses,the contemporary houses in the same area reflected a different character.Urban houses built since the early and mid-20th century were compared with contemporary houses.After analysing the openness,generality,flexibility,depth,typicality,construction technique,involvement of end-users,and the feedback from the inhabitants,the study identified a significant decrease in contemporary houses'adaptability.Spatial analysis was used to quantify the different features and comparison between traditional and contemporary houses.Though the adaptability had been reduced over time,the latest houses started to achieve better flexibility in some features due to government policy and implementation of statutory building regulations.Further recommendations were provided to enhance the residential architecture's adaptability in future.The study samples were selected from different regions of Bangladesh.Still,the result and policy recommendations can be helpful for other countries,especially with high population density and a developing economy.Subrata Das Md Arifur Rahman Muhammad Shafayet Hossain 2021Journal of Architectural Environment & Structural Engineering Research2021,4,4:0
18Surfactant and nanoparticle synergy:Towards improved foam stability显示文摘Surfactant foam stability gets a lot of interest while posing a significant obstacle to many industrial operations.One of the viable solutions for addressing gas mobility concerns and boosting reservoir fluid sweep efficiency during solvent-based enhanced heavy oil recovery processes is foam formation.The synergistic effect of nanoparticles and surfactants in a porous reservoir media can help create a more durable and sturdier foam.This study aims to see how well a combination of the nanoparticles(NPs)and surfactant can generate foam for controlling gas mobility and improving oil recovery.This research looked at the effects of silicon and aluminum oxide nanoparticles on the bulk and dynamic stability of sodium dodecyl surfactant(SDS)-foam in the presence and absence of oil.Normalized foam height,liquid drainage,half-decay life,nanoparticle deposition,and bubble size distribution of the generated foams with time were used to assess static foam stability in the bulk phase,while dynamic stability was studied in the micromodel.To understand the processes of foam stabilization by nanoparticles,the microscopic images of foam and the shape of bubbles were examined.When nanoparticles were applied in foamability testing in bulk and dynamic phase,the foam generation and stability were improved by 23%and 17%,respectively.In comparison to surfactant alone,adding nanoparticles to surfactant solutions leads to a more significant pressure drop of 17.34 psi for SiO_(2)and 14.86 psi for Al_(2)O_(3)NPs and,as a result,a higher reduction in gas mobility which ultimately assists in enhancing oil recovery.Arifur Rahman Farshid Torabi Ezeddin Shirif 2023Petroleum2023,9,2:0
