1Statistical design and kinetic and thermodynamic studies of Ni(Ⅱ) adsorption on bentonite显示文摘The adsorption of the bentonite toward Ni(II) from aqueous solution was studied to obtain optimum conditions,equilibrium model,thermodynamic and kinetic parameters.Statistical method was used to evaluate maximum amount of adsorbed Ni(II).In this work,p H of solution during stirring,contact time,initial Ni(II) concentration,particle size of bentonite and amount of bentonite were considered as effective parameters which should be examined.The increase of temperature has negative effect on the Ni(II) adsorption.The equilibrium data were correlated well with Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm models the correlation coefficients of which are(R^2) 0.994 and 0.971,respectively.This model indicates heterogeneous and chemical absorption or ion exchange process.The values of thermodynamic parameters such as ΔH°,ΔS° and ΔG° of nickel adsorption reveal that it is a spontaneous,exothermic and associative process.The experimental data fit the pseudo-second-order kinetic very well with correlation coefficient(R^2) more than 0.995.Bahareh Sadeghalvad Amir Reza Azadmehr Hassan Motevalian 2017Journal of Central South University2017,24,7:6
2Investigation on leaching of malachite by citric acid显示文摘Leaching of an oxidized copper ore containing malachite, as a new approach, was investigated by an organic reagent, citric acid. Sulfuric acid is the most common reagent in the leaching of oxide copper ores, but it has several side effects such as severe adverse impact on the environment. In this investigation, the effects of particle size, acid concentration, leaching time, solid/liquid ratio, temperature, and stirring speed were optimized. According to the experimental results, malachite leaching by citric acid was technically feasible. Optimum leaching conditions were found as follows: the range of particle size, 105-150 μm; acid concentration, 0.2 M; leaching time, 30 min; solid/liquid ratio, 1:20 g/mL; temperature, 40°C; and stirring speed, 200 r/min. 10Protoscolicidal and immunomodulatory activity of Ziziphora tenuior extract and its fractions显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the scolicidal and immunomodulatory effect of the Ziziphora tenuior(Z.tenuior) extract and its fractions.Methods:Protoscolices were treated with six concentrations(3,5,10,25,50,and 100 mg/mL) of Z.tenuior extract and its fractions(ethanol,petroleum ether,ethyl acetate and chloroform) in periods of 10,20,30,40,50 and 60 minutes,and viability of protoscolices was evaluated using the 1.0%eosin.To examine the immunomodulatory effects of Ziziphora and its fractions on macrophage cells,the non-toxic concentration of extract and different fractions determined by MTT assay,and the Griess reaction was used to measure the level of nitrite as an indicator of nitric oxide by the macrophage cells in 10,100 and 200 μg/mL in 24 hours at 37 ℃.Results:In this study,the Z.tenuior extract at 10 mg/mL concentration was able to kill all protoscolices during 20 minutes.By increasing the concentration to 25 mg/mL,the scolicidal time reduced to 10 minutes.Regarding the effect of different fractions of Z.tenuior,the ethanolic fraction showed the highest scolicidal activity.The extract demonstrated an inhibitory effect on the activity of macrophages and reduced nitric oxide production.Although the petroleum ether and ethanolic fractions of the extract reduced nitric oxide production,nevertheless,this effect was only significant at 10 and 100 ug/mL concentrations(P<0.05).Conclusion:The Z.tenuior extract and its fractions were effective against protoscolices yet the effect of total extract was considerable.Our findings indicates that the extract and its ethanolic and petroleum ether fractions could have anti-inflammatory properties.Mojtaba Shahnazi Abbas Azadmehr Ammar Andalibian Reza Hajiaghaee Mehrzad Saraei Mahmood Alipour 2016Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,11:1

12Usage of Iranian scoria for copper and cadmium removal from aqueous solutions显示文摘The competitive removal of copper and cadmium from aqueous solutions using scoria has been investigated. Scoria was characterized by various methods, such as XRD, XRF, FT-IR and SEM. The results show that scoria sample contained augite, enstatite, diopside, and olivine. These minerals were separated from each other and each mineral was then subjected to the adsorption experiments. It was found that the main absorbent constituent in scoria was augite. Finally, statistical experimental method was used to optimization of adsorption conditions(Initial concentration of copper and cadmium ions, the amount of scoria and temperature) for removal of Cu(II) and Cd(II) ions from solution in optimum conditions. The optimum conditions are obtained as follows: concentrations of Cu(II) and Cd(II) of 400×10-6 and 554×10-6, respectively; amount of scoria of 7 g; temperature of 38 °C. 13Evaluating the effect of Myrtus communis on programmed cell death in hydatid cyst protoscolices显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the possible involvement of programmed cell death strategy in hydatid cyst protoscolices following treatment with Myrtus communis(M. communis) as an herbal medicine.Methods: Protoscolices were aseptically collected from sheep liver hydatid cysts. Evaluating the effect of M. communis extract on programmed cell death and increased activity of caspases 3, 8, and 9 in hydatid cyst protoscolices was conducted by treating the protoscolices with different concentration(5, 50, and 100 mg/mL) of M. communis extract at37C and 5% CO2 for 4 h by using the Bradford test and ELISA commercial kits.Results: The extract of M. communis at all concentrations led to initiation of programmed cell death in protoscolices and this effect, was only significant at 50 and 100 mg/mL concentrations, compared to the negative control(P < 0.05). Also, the activity of caspases3, 8, and 9 in hydatid cyst protoscolices, was shown that the extract at all 3 concentrations could only increase the activity of caspases 3 and 9. 14Post-CMOS processing challenges and design developments of CMOS-MEMS microheaters for local CNT synthesis显示文摘Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)can be locally grown on custom-designed CMOS microheaters by a thermal chemical vapour deposition(CVD)process to utilize the sensing capabilities of CNTs in emerging micro-and nanotechnology applications.For such a direct CMOS-CNT integration,a key requirement is the development of necessary post-processing steps on CMOS chips for fabricating CMOS-MEMS polysilicon heaters that can locally generate the required CNT synthesis temperatures(~650-900℃).In our post-CMOS processing,a subtractive fabrication technique is used for micromachining the polysilicon heaters,where the passivation layers in CMOS are used as masks to protect the electronics.For dielectric etching,it is necessary to achieve high selectivity,uniform etching and a good etch rate to fully expose the polysilicon layers without causing damage.We achieved successful post-CMOS processing by developing two-step reactive ion etching(RIE)of the SiO2 dielectric layer and making design improvements to a second-generation CMOS chip.After the dry etching process,CMOS-MEMS microheaters are partially suspended by SiO2 wet etching with minimum damage to the exposed aluminium layers,to obtain high thermal isolation.The fabricated microheaters are then successfully utilized for synthesizing CNTs by a local thermal CVD process.The CMOS post-processing challenges and design aspects to fabricate CMOS-MEMS polysilicon microheaters for such high-temperature applications are detailed in this article.Our developed process for heterogeneous monolithic integration of CMOS-CNT shows promise for wafer-level manufacturing of CNT-based sensors by incorporating additional steps in an already existing foundry CMOS process.Avisek Roy Bao Q.Ta Mehdi Azadmehr Knut E.Aasmundtveit 2023Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,6:0
