| 1 | Advances in COVID-19 mRNA vaccine development显示文摘To date,the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has determined 399,600,607 cases and 5,757,562 deaths worldwide.COVID-19 is a serious threat to human health globally.The World Health Organization(WHO)has declared COVID-19 pandemic a major public health emergency.Vaccination is the most effective and economical intervention for controlling the spread of epidemics,and consequently saving lives and protecting the health of the population.Various techniques have been employed in the development of COVID-19 vaccines.Among these,the COVID-19 messenger RNA(mRNA)vaccine has been drawing increasing attention owing to its great application prospects and advantages,which include short development cycle,easy industrialization,simple production process,flexibility to respond to new variants,and the capacity to induce better immune response.This review summarizes current knowledge on the structural characteristics,antigen design strategies,delivery systems,industrialization potential,quality control,latest clinical trials and real-world data of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines as well as mRNA technology.Current challenges and future directions in the development of preventive mRNA vaccines for major infectious diseases are also discussed. | Enyue Fang Xiaohui Liu Miao Li Zelun Zhang Lifang Song Baiyu Zhu Xiaohong Wu Jingjing Liu Danhua Zhao Yuhua Li | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4: | 5 |
| 2 | Determination of water level design for an estuarine city显示文摘Based on the extreme value theory, self-affinity, and scale invariance, we studied the temporal and spatial relationship and the variation of water level and established a model of Gumbel-Pareto distribution for designed flood calculation. The model includes the previous extreme value models, the over-threshold data, and the fractal features shared by previous extreme value models. The model was simplified into a logarithmic normal distribution and a Pareto distribution for specific parameter values, and was used to calculate the designed flood values for the Shanghai Wusong Station in 100- and 1 000-year return periods. The calculated results show that the value of the designed flood height calculated in the Gumbel-Pareto distribution is between those in the Gumbel and Pearson-Ⅲ distributions. The designed flood values in the 100- and 1 000-year return periods of the model were 0.03% and 0.11% lower, respectively, than the Gumbel distribution and 0.06% and 1.54% higher, respectively, than the Pearson-Ⅲ distribution. | 12 | A near-complete genome assembly of the allotetrapolyploid Cenchrus fungigraminus(JUJUNCAO)provides insights into its evolution and C4 photosynthesis显示文摘JUJUNCAO(Cenchrus fungigraminus;2n=4x=28)is a Cenchrus grass with the highest biomass production among cultivated plants,and it can be used for mushroom cultivation,animal feed,and biofuel production.Here,we report a nearly complete genome assembly of JUJUNCAO and reveal that JUJUNCAO is an allopolyploid that originated2.7 million years ago(mya).Its genome consists of two subgenomes,and subgenome A shares high collinear synteny with pearl millet.We also investigated the genome evolution of JUJUNCAO and suggest that the ancestral karyotype of Cenchrus split into the A and B ancestral karyotypes of JUJUNCAO.Comparative transcriptome and DNA methylome analyses revealed functional divergence of homeologous gene pairs between the two subgenomes,which was a further indication of asymmetric DNA methylation.The three types of centromeric repeat in the JUJUNCAO genome(CEN137,CEN148,and CEN156)may have evolved independently within each subgenome,with some introgressions of CEN156 from the B to the A subgenome.We investigated the photosynthetic characteristics of JUJUNCAO,revealing its typical C4 Kranz anatomy and high photosynthetic efficiency.NADP-ME and PEPCK appear to cooperate in the major C4 decarboxylation reaction of JUJUNCAO,which is different from other C4 photosynthetic subtypes and may contribute to its high photosynthetic efficiency and biomass yield.Taken together,our results provide insights into the highly efficient photosynthetic mechanism of JUJUNCAO and provide a valuable reference genome for future genetic and evolutionary studies,as well as genetic improvement of Cenchrus grasses. | Huakun Zheng Baiyu Wang Xiuting Hua Ruiting Gao Yuhao Wang Zixin Zhang Yixing Zhang Jing Mei Yongji Huang Yumin Huang Hui Lin Xingtan Zhang Dongmei Lin Siren Lan Zhongjian Liu Guodong Lu Zonghua Wang Ray Ming Jisen Zhang Zhanxi Lin | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,5: | 1 |

| 14 | Wave height statistical characteristic analysis显示文摘When exploring the temporal and spatial change law of ocean environment, the most common method used is using smaller-scale observed data to derive the change law for a larger-scale system. For instance, using 30-year observation data to derive 100-year return period design wave height. Therefore, the study of inherent self-similarity in ocean hydrological elements becomes increasingly important to the study of multi-year return period design wave height derivation. In this paper, we introduced multifractal to analyze the statistical characteristics of wave height series data observed from oceanic hydrological station. An improvement is made to address the existing problems of the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) method, where trend function showed a discontinuity between intervals. The improved MFDFA method is based on signal mode decomposition, replacing piecewise polynomial fitting used in the original method. We applied the proposed method to the wave height data collected at Chaolian Island, Shandong, China, from 1963 to 1989 and was able to conclude the wave height sequence presented weak multi-fractality. This result provided strong support to the past research on the derivation of multi-year return period design wave height with observed data. | 17 | Converting intercalation-type cathode in spent lithium-ion batteries into conversion-type cathode显示文摘The widespread applications of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)generate tons of spent LIBs.Therefore,recycling LIBs is of paramount importance in protecting the environment and saving the resources.Current commercialized LIBs mostly adopt layered oxides such as LiCoO_(2)(LCO)or LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)(NMC)as the cathode materials.Converting the intercalation-type spent oxides into conversion-type cathodes(such as metal fluorides(MFs))offers a valid recycling strategy and provides substantially improved energy densities for LIBs.Herein,two typical Co-based cathodes,LCO and LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(NMC622),in spent LIBs were successfully converted to CoF_(2) and(Ni_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z))F_(2) cathodes by a reduction and fluorination technique.The as converted CoF_(2) and(Ni_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z))F_(2) delivered cell energy densities of 650 and 700 Wh/kg,respectively.Advanced atomic-level electron microscopy revealed that the used LCO and NMC622 were converted to highly phase pure Co metal and Ni_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2) alloys in the used graphite-assisted reduction roasting,simultaneously producing the important product of Li_(2)CO_(3) using only environment friendly solvent.Our study provided a versatile strategy to convert the intercalation-type Co-based cathode in the spent LIBs into conversion-type MFs cathodes,which offers a new avenue to recycle the spent LIBs and substantially increase the energy densities of next generation LIBs. | Dingding Zhu Yong Su Jingzhao Chen Xiangze Ou Xuedong Zhang Wen Xie Yuyan Zhou Yunna Guo Qiushi Dai Peng Jia Jitong Yan Lin Geng Baiyu Guo Liqiang Zhang Yongfu Tang Qiao Huang Jianyu Huang | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,5: | 0 |
