| 1 | Elizabethkingia miricola :A rare non-fermenter causing urinary tract infection显示文摘Elizabethkingia miricola(E.miricola) is a gram-negative non-fermentative bacterium which is rarely encountered.It is usually misidentified or considered as a contaminant in routine microbiology laboratories due to the limitations in conventional biochemical techniques.However,with the advent of the matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOFMS),the identification of non-fermenters has become easy and this has led to enhanced understanding of the clinical significance of these uncommonly isolated microorganisms.The genus Elizabethkingia has only two species E.meningoseptica and E.miricola.Both of these organisms are known to be multi-drug resistant and therefore,their accurate identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing are necessary prior to the initiation of appropriate therapy.In the world literature till date,only 3 cases of sepsis caused by E.miricola have been reported.We present the first case of E.miricola association with urinary tract infection. | Parakriti Gupta Kamran Zaman Balvinder Mohan Neelam Taneja | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2017，5，5： | 6 |

| 3 | Mycobacterial PE PGRS Proteins Contain Calcium-Binding Motifs with Parallel β-roll Folds显示文摘The PE PGRS family of proteins unique to mycobacteria is demonstrated to con-tain multiple calcium-binding and glycine-rich sequence motifs GGXGXD/NXUX. This sequence repeat constitutes a calcium-binding parallel β-roll or parallel β-helix structure and is found in RTX toxins secreted by many Gram-negative bacteria. It is predicted that the highly homologous PE PGRS proteins containing multiple copies of the nona-peptide motif could fold into similar calcium-binding structures. | 15 | VGIchan:Prediction and Classification of Voltage-Gated Ion Channels显示文摘This study describes methods for predicting and classifying voltage-gated ion chan-nels. Firstly, a standard support vector machine (SVM) method was developed forpredicting ion channels by using amino acid composition and dipeptide composi-tion, with an accuracy of 82.89% and 85.56%, respectively. The accuracy of thisSVM method was improved from 85.56% to 89.11% when combined with PSI-BLAST similarity search. Then we developed an SVM method for classifying ionchannels (potassium, sodium, calcium, and chloride) by using dipeptide compo-sition and achieved an overall accuracy of 96.89%. We further achieved a clas-sification accuracy of 97.78% by using a hybrid method that combines dipeptide-based SVM and hidden Markov model methods. A web server VGIchan has beendeveloped for predicting and classifying voltage-gated ion channels using the aboveapproaches.
