| 1 | Ultrasound biomicroscopic evaluation of anterior segment cysts as a risk factor for ocular hypertension and closure angle glaucoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between the ultrasound biomicroscopic(UBM) features of anterior-segment cysts(ASCs) and increased intraocular pressure(IOP) as a risk factor for closed-angle glaucoma(CAG).·METHODS:Totally 24 eyes with recently diagnosed ASCs were divided into two groups.First group with ASC and ocular normotension(n =13),second group with ASC and ocular hypertension(n =11).An ophthalmologic examination,including tonometry,slit-lamp biomicro-scopy(SLBM),gonioscopy,fundoscopy,pentacam,and UBM,was performed.The features of the ASCs were compared with the IOP.·RESULTS:ASCs were accurately diagnosed and delineated in 24 eyes using UBM.IOP was elevated in those ASCs with a secondary aetiology(P =0.027),iridociliary location(P =0.006),deformed shape(P =0.013),increased size(P =0.001) and elongated pupillary aperture(P =0.009).However,the count(P =0.343) of ASCs,anterior chamber depth(ACD;P =0.22) and axial lenght(AL;P =0.31) were not associated with ocular hypertension.Correlations were found between the IOP and ASC size(r =-0.712;P =0.003),anterior chamber angle(ACA;r =-0.985;P <0.001),angle opening area(AOA;r =0.885;P<0.001),angulation of iris(r =-0.776,P <0.001),and affected iris quadrant(r =-0.655,P =0.002).·CONCLUSION:Ocular hypertension in some eyes with ASC might be associated with various mechanisms,including secondary aetiology,iridociliary location,deformed shape,increased size and elongated pupill,which can be determined by UBM. | Abdurrahim Dusak Mehmet Baykara Guven Ozkaya Cuneyt Erdogan Hikmet Ozcetin Ercan Tuncel | 2013 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013，6，4： | 3 |
| 2 | A novel suturing technique for filtering glaucoma surgery:the accordion suture显示文摘AIM:To present a novel scleral flap suturing technique for filtering glaucoma surgery in order to control high postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP).METHODS:Description of ‘the accordion suture' technique for mitomycin C augmented trabeculectomy.In cases of postoperative high IOP,pulling the loop of the suture helps to lift up the scleral flap by an even pressure on both edges.By means of this technique,the scleral flap opens up in an ‘‘accordion'' manner,thus preventing flap obstruction and providing adequate aqueous flow.RESULTS:Our study group consisted of 8 eyes of 8 patients with neovascular glaucoma.Mean age of the subjects was 67.42±8.21 y and female/male ratio was 4/4.Mean preoperative IOP was 37±7.48 mm Hg.Mitomycin C augmented trabeculectomy was carried out on the subjects without any complications.The scleral flap closure is performed with three separate sutures;initially,our accordion suture through the center of the flap,and two releasable sutures on both corners.All the patients received removal of two side releasable sutures concomitant with pulling the accordion suture,without any complications.The average traction time was 3.5±0 wk postoperatively.The mean postoperative IOP was 11.37±2.72 mm Hg.No suture related complications were observed.CONCLUSION:This technique can be the suture of choice for filtering glaucoma surgery in experienced hands by its easy learning curve for precisely indicated patients. | Mehmet Baykara Basak Can Ermerak Huri Sabur Selim Gent | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017，10，12： | 2 |

| 4 | Formation of air-entraining vortices at horizontal intakes without approach flow induced circulation显示文摘The aim of this experimental study is to investigate the effects of hydraulic parameters on the formation of air-entraining vortices at horizontal intake structures without approach flow induced circulation. Six intake pipes of different diameters were tested in the study. The intake pipe to be tested was horizontally mounted to the front side of a large reservoir and then for a wide range of discharges experiments were conducted and critical submergences were detected with adjustable approach channel sidewalls. Empirical equations were derived for the dimensionless critical submergence as a function of the relevant dimensionless parameters. Available data is also checked for the possible scale effect.
