1In-situ formation of MOF derived mesoporous Co3N/amorphous N-doped carbon nanocubes as an efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘The suitable materials,metal nitrides,are a promising class of electrocatalyst materials for a highly efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) because they exhibit superior intrinsic conductivity and have higher sustainability than oxide-based materials.To our knowledge,for the first time,we report a designable synthesis of three-dimensional (3D) and mesoporous Co3N@ amorphous N-doped carbon (AN-C) nanocubes (NCs) with well-controlled open-framework structures via monodispersed Co3[Co(CN)6]2 Prussian blue analogue (PBA) NC precursors using in situ nitridation and calcination processes.Co3N@AN-C NCs (2 h) demonstrate better OER activity with a remarkably low Tafel plot (69.6 mV-dec-1),low overpotential of 280 mV at a current density of 10 mA-crrf2.Additionally,excellent cycling stability in alkaline electrolytes was exhibited without morphological changes and voltage elevations,superior to most reported hierarchical structures of transition-metal nitride particles.The presented strategy for synergy effects of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-derived transition-metal nitrides-carbon hybrid nanostructures provides prospects for developing high-performance and advanced electrocatalyst materials.Bong Kyun Kang Seo Young Im Jooyoung Lee Sung Hoon Kwag Seok Bin Kwon SintayehuNibret Tiruneh Min-Jun Kim Jung Ho Kim Woo Seok Yang Byungkwon Lim Dae Ho Yoon 2019Nano Research2019,12,7:8
2The clinical association of programmed cell death protein 4(PDCD4) with solid tumors and its prognostic significance:a meta-analysis显示文摘Background: Programmed cell death protein 4(PDCD4) is a novel tumor suppressor protein involved in pro?grammed cell death. Its association with cancer progression has been observed in multiple tumor models, but evidence supporting its association with solid tumors in humans remains controversial. This study aimed to determine the clinical signiicance and prognostic value of PDCD4 in solid tumors.Methods: A systematic literature review was performed to retrieve publications with available clinical informa?tion and survival data. The eligibility of the selected articles was based on the criteria of the Dutch Cochrane Centre proposed by the Meta?analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology group. Pooled odds ratios(ORs), hazard ratios(HRs), and 95% conidence intervals(CIs) for survival analysis were calculated. Publication bias was examined by Begg's and Egger's tests.Results: Clinical data of 2227 cancer patients with solid tumors from 23 studies were evaluated. PDCD4 expression was signiicantly associated with the diferentiation status of head and neck cancer(OR 4.25, 95% CI 1.87–9.66) and digestive system cancer(OR 2.87, 95% CI 1.84–4.48). Down?regulation of PDCD4 was signiicantly associated with short overall survival of patients with head and neck(HR: 3.44, 95% CI 2.38–4.98), breast(HR: 1.86, 95% CI 1.36–2.54), digestive system(HR: 2.12, 95% CI 1.75–2.56), and urinary system cancers(HR: 3.16, 95% CI 1.06–9.41).Conclusions: The current evidence suggests that PDCD4 down?regulation is involved in the progression of several types of solid tumor and is a potential marker for solid tumor prognoses. 4An intrinsically bioactive hydrogel with on-demand drug release behaviors for diabetic wound healing显示文摘Prolonged,intense inflammation and excessive oxidative stress hinder diabetic wounds from healing normally,leading to disorders downstream including the postponement of re-epithelialization and extracellular matrix(ECM)formation.Herein,we report a hyaluronic acid(HA)and chitosan based hydrogel(OHA-CMC)with inherent antibacterial and hemostatic activities fabricated via Schiff base reaction.By encapsulating nanotechnologically-modified curcumin(CNP)and epidermal growth factor(EGF)into the hydrogel,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF exhibited extraordinary antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and migration-promoting effects in vitro.Meanwhile,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF presented on-demand drug release in synchrony with the phases of the wound healing process.Specifically,curcumin was rapidly and constantly released to alleviate inflammation and oxidative stress in the early phase of wound healing,while a more gradual and sustained release of EGF supported late proliferation and ECM remodeling.In a diabetic full-thickness skin defect model,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF dramatically improved wound healing with ideal re-epithelialization,granulation tissue formation,and skin appendage regeneration,highlighting the enormous therapeutic potential this biomaterial holds as a diabetic wound dressing.Bin Hu Mingzhu Gao Kofi Oti Boakye-Yiadom William Ho Wei Yu Xiaoyang Xu Xue-Qing Zhang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:4
5Can intravesical prostatic protrusion predict bladder outlet obstruction even in men with good flow?显示文摘Objective:Men with benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH)with good urinary flow may still have bladder outlet obstruction(BOO).Intravesical prostatic protrusion(IPP)has been shown to be able to predict BOO.We aim to investigate the use of IPP to predict BOO in men with good urinary flow.Methods:One hundred and fourteen consecutive men(>50 years old)presenting with lower urinary tract symptoms suggestive of BPH were recruited in 2001 and 2002.They were evaluated with serum prostate specific antigen(PSA),uroflowmetry and transabdominal ultrasound measurement of IPP and prostate volume(PV).Pressure-flow urodynamic studies were performed on all men and BOO was defined by BOO index>40.Men with Qmax12.0 mL/s were considered to have good flow.Results:Among the 114 men,61 patients had good urinary flow.Their median age,PV and Qmax were 66 years,32.9 mm3 and 14.5 mL/s respectively.14/61(23.0%)patients had BOO and their distribution of IPP were as follows:Grade 1 e 0/20(0%)obstructed,Grade 2 e 6/22(27.3%)and Grade 3 e 8/19(42.1%).Sensitivity of Grade 2/3 IPP for BOO was 100% while specificity of Grade 3 IPP was 76.6%.The area-under-curve(AUC)for IPP was greater than that for PV(0.757 vs.0.696).Conclusion:Even in men with good flow,high grades of IPP were more likely to have BOO and hence,may be a useful adjunct to predict BOO.Alvin Lee Han Jie Lee Kok Bin Lim Hong Hong Huang Henry Ho Keong Tatt Foo 2016Asian Journal of Urology2016,3,1:4

8Selenium-enriched oolong tea(Camellia sinensis)extract exerts anti-inflammatory potential via targeting NF-κB and MAPK pathways in macrophages显示文摘Both tea polyphenols and selenium(Se)have been suggested to exert the health benefits via the regulatory capacities of chronic inflammation,which make Se-enriched oolong tea a promising beverage as an anti-inflammatory diet.The aim of this study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Se-enriched oolong tea extract(Se-TE)and underlying mechanism in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced RAW264.7 cells.Se-TE treatments(50 and 150μg/m L)significantly suppressed the over-production of nitric oxide(NO)and prostaglandin E2(PGE2)in LPS-stimulated macrophages via downregulating the expression of nitric oxide synthase(i NOS)and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2).Moreover,Se-TEs also effectively inhibited the productions of inflammatory cytokines,such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),and interleukin-1β(IL-1β).Furthermore,Se-TE could block mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathways through the inhibition of the phosphorylation of key proteins(IκB-α,p65,p38,ERK,and JNK)and the translocation of the p65 subunit into the nucleus.Collectively,our results indicated that Se-TE may have the potential to be used as a novel food ingredient for the development of various anti-inflammatory foods and the treatment and prevention of chronic inflammation-related diseases.Qi Wang Juqing Huang Yafeng Zheng Xuefang Guan Chenchun Lai Huiying Gao Chi-Tang Ho Bin Lin 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,3:3
9Comparison of litterfall production in three forest types in Jeju Island, South Korea显示文摘Litterfall, which is influenced by physical and biological factors, is a major pathway for carbon and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems. The purpose of this study was to investigate monthly litterfall production in three forests in Jeju Island differentiated by forest composition and precipitation: Cheongsu(Quercus glauca as the dominant species;low precipitation), Seonheulb(Q. glauca as the dominant species;high precipitation), and Seonheulm(Q. glauca and Pinus thunbergii as the dominant species;high precipitation). Litterfall was collected monthly from April to December 2015 and divided into leaf litter, twig, bark, seeds, and unidentified materials.Seasonal patterns of litterfall production varied across stands according to their species composition. However,the amount of leaf litterfall and total litterfall were comparable among stands, ranging from 362 to 375 g m-2 for leaf litter and 524 g m-2 to 580 g m-2 for total litterfall.Oak leaf litter in May was the highest in all stands, while needle litter was the highest in December in Seonheulm.High twig litterfall in July may be attributable to high rainfall with strong winds and storms during the rainy season. 19Phytogenic feed additives alleviate pathogenic Escherichia coli-induced intestinal damage through improving barrier integrity and inhibiting inflammation in weaned pigs显示文摘Background:This study was conducted to investigate the effects of each phytogenic feed additive(PFA;PFA1,bitter citrus extract;PFA2,a microencapsulated blend of thymol and carvacrol;PFA3,a mixture of bitter citrus extract,thymol,and carvacrol;PFA4,a premixture of grape seed,grape marc extract,green tea,and hops;PFA5,fenugreek seed powder)on the growth performance,nutrient digestibility,intestinal morphology,and immune response in weaned pigs infected with Escherichia coli(E.coli).Results:A total of 634-week-old weaned pigs were placed in individual metabolic cages and assigned to seven treatment groups.The seven treatments were as follows:1)NC;basal diet without E.coli challenge,2)PC;basal diet with E.coli challenge,3)T1;PC+0.04%PFA1,4)T2;PC+0.01%PFA2,5)T3;PC+0.10%PFA3,6)T4;PC+0.04%PFA4,7)T5;PC+0.10%PFA5.The experiments lasted in 21 d,including 7 d before and 14 d after the first E.coli challenge.In the E.coli challenge treatments,all pigs were orally inoculated by dividing a total of 10 mL of E.coli F18 for 3 consecutive days.The PFA-added groups significantly increased(P<0.05)average daily gain and feed efficiency and decreased(P<0.05)the fecal score at d 0 to 14 post-inoculation(PI).Tumor necrosis factorαwas significantly lower(P<0.05)in the PFA-added groups except for T1 in d 14 PI compared to the PC treatment.The T3 had a higher(P<0.05)immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin A concentration compared to the PC treatment at d 7 PI.Also,T3 showed significantly higher(P<0.05)villus height:crypt depth and claudin 1 expression in ileal mucosa,and significantly downregulated(P<0.05)the expression of calprotectin compared to the PC treatment.Conclusions:Supplementation of PFA in weaned pigs challenged with E.coli alleviated the negative effects of E.coli and improved growth performance.Among them,the mixed additive of bitter citrus extract,thymol,and carvacrol showed the most effective results,improving immune response,intestinal morphology,and expression of tight junctions.Se Yeon Chang Min Ho Song Ji Hwan Lee Han Jin Oh Yong Ju Kim Jae Woo An Young Bin Go Dong Cheol Song Hyun AhCho Seung Yeol Cho Dong Jun Kim Mi Suk Kim Hyeun Bum Kim Jin Ho Cho 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,1:1
