| 1 | Interactions of zinc and cadmium toxicity in their effects on growth and in antioxidative systems in tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum)显示文摘The interaction between zinc and cadmium was investigated in tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum). Ten-day-old seedlings were treated with 10 μmol/L CdCl 2 associated to different concentrations of ZnCl 2 (10, 50, 100, and 150 μmol/L). Zn supply clearly reduced Cd accumulation in leaves and simultaneously increased Zn concentration. Cd induced oxidative stress in leaves as indicated by an increase in thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) level and chlorophyll breakdown. Furthermore, compared with control, Cd-treated plants had significantly higher activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD, EC 1.15.1.1), whereas, catalase (CAT, EC 1.111.1.6), ascorbate peroxidase (APX, EC 1.11.1.11), and glutathione reductase (GR, EC 1.6.4.2) activities were significantly suppressed by Cd addition. Zn supplementation, at low level, restored and enhanced the functional activity of these enzymes (SOD, CAT, APX and GR) as compared to Cd-alone-treated plants. The beneficial effect of adequate Zn level on Cd toxicity was confirmed by a significant decrease in TBARS level and restoration of chlorophyll content. However, when Zn was added at high level in combination with Cd there was an accumulation of oxidative stress, which was higher than that for Cd or excess Zn alone treatments. | 5 | Fertility sparing endometriosis surgery: A review显示文摘Background:Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition involving endometrial-like tissue outside of the uterus.There are no medical management options available to improve fertility in patients with known endometriosis prior to conception.Specifically,the fertility sparing surgical techniques used to manage endometriomas and colorectal endometriosis are controversial prior to natural conception and implementing assisted reproductive technology.Methods:A literature search,including PubMed and the Cochrane Library,was performed from November 2020 to February 2021 and articles in English that addressed endometriosis associated infertility and surgical treatments were included.Our review provides a comprehensive evidence-based evaluation of fertility sparing endometriosis surgery.Results:The pathogenesis of endometriosis and its role in infertility is poorly understood and complex.The management of patients with painful endometriomas continues to be excision,whereas small asymptomatic endometriomas require an individualized approach.Colorectal endometriosis excision improves pregnancy rates in retrospective and prospective cohort studies.However,randomized control trials are still needed to confirm these findings and their functional risks must be carefully discussed with the patient.Conclusions:Surgical excision of endometriosis improves fertility in patients with symptomatic disease.Further research with randomized controlled trials is needed to determine if surgery is mandatory prior to implementing assisted reproductive technologies in those patients with asymptomatic endometriosis and infertility. | Amira Quevedo Resad Pasic Alexandria Connor Petra Chamseddine | 2021 | Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine2021，1，3： | 1 |
