| 1 | A new cyamodontoid placodont from Triassic of Guizhou, China显示文摘A new cyamodontoid placodont is named (Pse-phochelys polyosteoderma gen. et. sp. nov.) and described based on a three-dimensionally preserved specimen. The material comes from the Wayao Member of the Falang Formation (Carnian, Late Triassic) in Guizhou Province, southwestern China. The skull of Psephochelys shows a unique combination of characteristics observed in Psepho-derma and Placochelys, and the carapace is diagnostic of a new taxon as well. The ventral dermal armor of Psephochelys differs from all other known cyamodontoids in that it comprises irregular marginal osteoderms in loose contact with each other, and gastralia between them. The cranial suture pattern is in part difficult to analyze due to apparent co-ossification of elements, or poor delimitation of sutures. This affects primarily the demarcation of the nasal from the prefrontal, and the relation between the anterior part of the parietal, posterior ends of the frontals, and postfrontals. | 2 | Genetic regulation by non-coding RNAs显示文摘Large scale cDNA sequencing and genome tiling array studies have shown that around 50% of genomic DNA in humans is transcribed, of which 2% is translated into proteins and the remaining 98% is non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). There is mounting evidence that these ncRNAs play critical roles in regulating DNA structure, RNA expression, protein translation and protein functions through multiple genetic mechanisms, and thus affect normal development of organisms at all levels. Today, we know very little about the regulatory mechanisms and functions of these ncRNAs, which is clearly essential knowledge for understanding the secret of life. | 17 | Sorption of Eu^(3+) onto nano-size silica-water interfaces显示文摘The sorption of Eu species onto nano-size silica-water interfaces is investigated at pH range of 1―8.5 and the initial Eu concentrations (CEu) of 2 × 10?5, 2 × 10?4 and 2 × 10?3 M using fluorescence spectroscopy. The sorption rate of Eu is initially low, but significantly in-creases at pH > 4. For the initial CEu of 2 × 10?5, 2 × 10?4 and 2 × 10?3 M, the dissolved Eu spe-cies are completely sorbed onto silica-water interfaces at pH = 4.75, ~5.8 and 6.6, respectively, with the respective sorption densities of ~1.58 × 10?8, 1.58 × 10?7 and 1.58 × 10?6 mol/m2. The sorbed Eu species at pH < 6 is aquo Eu3+, which is sorbed onto silica-water interfaces as an outer-sphere complex at pH < 5, but may be sorbed as an inner-sphere bidentate complex at 5 < pH < 6, due to the decrease of the NH2O to ~6 at pH = 6. At pH = 6 – 8, Eu(OH)2+, Eu(CO3)+ and Eu(CO3)2? form in the solutions, and Eu(CO3)+ is dominant at pH = ~7.5.
