| 1 | Emerging trends in expansive soil stabilisation: A review显示文摘Expansive soils are problematic due to the performances of their clay mineral constituent, which makes them exhibit the shrink-swell characteristics. The shrink-swell behaviours make expansive soils inappropriate for direct engineering application in their natural form. In an attempt to make them more feasible for construction purposes, numerous materials and techniques have been used to stabilise the soil. In this study, the additives and techniques applied for stabilising expansive soils will be focused on,with respect to their efficiency in improving the engineering properties of the soils. Then we discussed the microstructural interaction, chemical process, economic implication, nanotechnology application, as well as waste reuse and sustainability. Some issues regarding the effective application of the emerging trends in expansive soil stabilisation were presented with three categories, namely geoenvironmental,standardisation and optimisation issues. | 4 | Evaluation of optimization techniques in predicting optimum moisture content reduction in drying potato slices显示文摘The use of artificial intelligence models in predicting the moisture content reduction in the drying of potato(Ipomoea batata)sliceswas the focus of thiswork.The models used were adaptive neuro fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS),artificial neural network(ANN)and response surface methodology(RSM).The parameters considered were drying time,drying air speed and temperature.The capability and sensitivity analysis of the three models were evaluated using the correlation coefficient(R2)and some statistical error functions such as the average relative error(ARE),root mean square error(RMSE),Hybrid Fractional Error Function(HYBRID)and absolute average relative error(AARE).The result showed that the three models demonstrated significant predictive behaviourwith R2 of 0.998,0.997 and 0.998 for ANFIS,ANN and RSMrespectively.The calculated error functions of ARE(RSM=1.778,ANFIS=1.665 and ANN=4.282)and RMSE(RSM=0.0273,ANFIS=0.0282 and ANN=0.1178)suggested good harmony between the experimental and predicted values.It was concluded that though the three models gave adequate predictions that were in good agreement with the experimental data,the RSM and ANFIS gave better model prediction than ANN. | Onu Chijioke Elijah K.Igbokwe Philomena T.Nwabanne Joseph O.Nwajinka Charles E.Ohale Paschal | 2020 | Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture2020,,1: | 1 |

| 7 | Development of a computer vision system to detect inactivity in group-housed pigs显示文摘Excessive inactivity in farm animals can be an early indication of illness.Traditional way for detecting excessive inactivity in pigs relies on manual inspection which can be laborious and especially time-consuming.This paper proposed a computer vision system that could detect inactivity of individual pigs housed in group pens which is potential in alarming the farmer of the animals concerned.The system recorded sequential depth images for the animals in a pen and implemented a proposed image processing and logic analysis scheme named as‘DepInact’to keep track of the inactive time of group-housed individual pigs over time.To verify the robustness and accuracy of the developed system,a total of 656 pairs of corresponding depth data and color images,consecutively taken 4 s apart from each other,were attained.The verification process involved manually identifying all pigs using the color images captured.The results of identification of all pigs that were inactive for more than the preset period of time by DepInact were compared to those by manual inspection through the color images captured.An accuracy of 85.7%was achieved using the verification data,thus demonstrating that the developed system is a viable alternative to manual detection of inactivity of group-housed pigs.Nevertheless,more research is still needed to improve the accuracy of the developed system. | Christopher Chijioke Ojukwu Yaoze Feng Guifeng Jia Haitao Zhao Hequn Tan | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1: | 1 |

| 9 | Global evolution of organochlorine pesticides research in biological and environmental matrices from 1992 to 2018:A bibliometric approach显示文摘The analysis of organochlorine pesticides(OCPs)in ecosystem components has been a major niche area among environmental scientists,probably due to their endocrine-disruptive properties.Here,we evaluated the global research productivity of OCPs research from 1992 to 2018 using various bibliometric indices.A total of 2326 articles that focused on OCPs research in biological and environmental matrices were retrieved from the Web of Science(WoS).A steady progression on OCPs article production was noticed during the survey period with regression and Lokta distribution models suggesting that more research outputs on this pollutant class is imminent in years to come.The People's Republic of China and the United States were respectively ranked first and second in both‘most productive countries’and‘countries with the highest number of citations.’Not surprisingly,these two countries also had the most collaborative network with not less than ten collaboration linkages with other countries.This study shows the high involvement of OCPs research from scientists domiciled in developed countries.However,international collaboration should be encouraged particularly between developed and developing countries.To this end,more research programs should be established to monitor OCPs in regions where they have been used in the past especially in Africa.This bibliometric survey will assist policymakers and researchers in designing future research and allocating funds involving OCPs research. | Chijioke Olisah Omobola O.Okoh Anthony I.Okoh | 2019 | Emerging Contaminants2019,5,1: | 1 |
