	5	The Leadership Styles of Men and Women—Has the Perception Regarding Female Leaders Changed?显示文摘The present study aims to explore the evolution of the leadership and gender theories in order to reveal if leadership conceptualizations favored the appearance of the gender studies and influenced the perception about female leaders,as well as the gender differences in practicing transformational and transactional leadership in the Romanian public administration.The research methodology consists of an exploratory study using secondary and primary data analysis.The research revealed that the leadership conceptualisations have led to the association of certain leadership styles with gender,but this association has ultimately proved to be beneficial for female leaders conducting to the emergence of the female leadership advantage and improved the perception about female leaders.The study also revealed that the leaders from the Romanian public administration are perceived to exhibit leadership behaviors in a similar manner regardless of their gender.However,gender stereotypes might be present and a certain prejudice against women might be observed considering men’s better appreciation towards male leaders.
