2The role of technetium Tc99m-tetrofosmin as head and neck tumor-seeking agent:a preliminary report显示文摘Aim:To evaluate the diagnostic value of technetium Tc99m-tetrofosmin(^(99m)Tc-TF)in primary cancers of the head and neck.Methods:Single photon emission computer tomography with planar imaging of the neck for primary site evaluation and whole body scanning for assessment of metastases in 12 patients with newly diagnosed head and neck cancer.Tumor-to-background index(T/Bg)was derived in patients with positive findings(tumor or lymph nodes).Results:The tomographic images showed increased tracer uptake in pathological sites(primary tumor or lymph node)in 9 patients(overall sensitivity 75%).Primary tumor was visualised in 7 patients(sensitivity 58%)and infiltrated lymph nodes in 4 out 7 patients(sensitivity 57%).Mean values for T/Bg index were 5.44±1.28 for primary tumor and 4.25±1.67 for lymph nodes.Mean values for T/Bg index were 4.5±0.71 for patients with in situ and grade I carcinoma and 6.68±0.36 for patients with tumor grade II and III(P=0.034,Mann-Whitney U test).Conclusion:The present study demonstrates that ^(99m)Tc-TF is a valuable radiotracer for head and neck cancer imaging.To determine the potential role of this imaging protocol in clinical practice will require a larger sample size.Chrissa Sioka Thomas Exarchopoulos Vlasis Skloupiotis Vaios Papathanassiou Vasileios Ragos Maria Argyropoulou Anna Gousia Periklis Tsekeris Georgios Exarchakos Dimitrios Assimakopoulos Andreas Fotopoulos 2016Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2016,2,1:1

5Differentiation of radiation necrosis from glioblastoma recurrence after radiotherapy显示文摘The standard treatment of glioblastoma,the most common type of primary-brain-tumor,involves radiotherapy with concomitant temozolomide chemotherapy.A patient with glioblastoma,post radiotherapy developed magnatic resonance imaging(MRI)changes consistent with either radiation-induced tumor necrosis or tumor recurrence.Perfusion MRI was suggestive of radiation necrosis,but magnetic resonance spectroscopy and 99mTc-Tetrofosmin single photon emission computed tomography was indicative of tumor recurrence.Positron emission tomography scan was not available.Tumor recurrence was documented by biopsy.Several advanced imaging methods are available to differentiate tumor recurrence from radiation necrosis in glioblastoma patients.However,in inconclusive cases,brain biopsy should be performed for definite diagnosis.Chrissa Sioka Anastasia Zikou Anna Goussia Spyridon Tsiouris Loucas G.Astrakas Athanassios P.Kyritsis 2016Neuroimmunology and Neuroinflammation2016,3,1:0
6Positron emission tomography imaging in gliomas显示文摘Glioma,the most frequent primary brain tumor in adults,is a highly infiltrative tumor exhibiting resistance to most treatments and associated with short survival of patients.Positron emission tomography(PET)imaging using various tracers takes advantage of the increased metabolic rate of neoplastic cells,in order to detect tumors and validate the treatment response.The most frequently used PET tracer,the(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG),is useful during the initial and follow-up assessment of patients with gliomas because it can assist in the selection of the initial biopsy site and to assess early response to a given therapeutic intervention.Furthermore,when there is tumor re-growth after an initial remission,FDG-PET can differentiate between true tumor recurrence versus necrosis from radiation therapy.Newly developed PET tracers may exhibit better sensitivity than FDG to diagnose primary brain tumors,but may occasionally produce false positive results in various conditions.In any event,PET is a useful tool in patients with central nervous system cancer during both initial assessment and follow-up.Assimakis Assimakopoulos Konstantinos Polyzoidis Chrissa Sioka 2014Neuroimmunology and Neuroinflammation2014,1,1:0
