| 1 | Preliminary engineering application of microseismic monitoring technique to rockburst prediction in tunneling of Jinping Ⅱ project显示文摘Monitoring and prediction of rockburst remain to be worldwide challenges in geotechnical engineering.In hydropower,transportation and other engineering fields in China,more deep,long and large tunnels have been under construction in recent years and underground caverns are more evidently featured by 'long,large,deep and in group',which bring in many problems associated with rock mechanics problems at great depth,especially rockburst.Rockbursts lead to damages to not only underground structures and equipments but also personnel safety.It has been a major technical bottleneck in future deep underground engineering in China.In this paper,compared with earthquake prediction,the feasibility in principle of monitoring and prediction of rockbursts is discussed,considering the source zones,development cycle and scale.The authors think the feasibility of rockburst prediction can be understood in three aspects:(1) the heterogeneity of rock is the main reason for the existence of rockburst precursors;(2) deformation localization is the intrinsic cause of rockburst;and(3) the interaction between target rock mass and its surrounding rock mass is the external cause of rockburst.As an engineering practice,the application of microseismic monitoring techniques during tunnel construction of Jinping II Hydropower Station was reported.It is found that precursory microcracking exists prior to most rockbursts,which could be captured by the microseismic monitoring system.The stress concentration is evident near structural discontinuities(such as faults or joints),which shall be the focus of rockburst monitoring.It is concluded that,by integrating the microseismic monitoring and the rock failure process simulation,the feasibility of rockburst prediction is expected to be enhanced. | Chun'an Tang Jimin Wang Jingjian Zhang | 2010 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2010,2,3: | 32 |
| 2 | Treatment strategies using adefovir dipivoxil for individuals with lamivudine-resistant chronic hepatitis B显示文摘AIM:To investigate retrospectively the long-term efficacy of various treatment strategies using adefovir dipivoxil(adefovir) in patients with lamivudine-resistant chronic hepatitis B.METHODS:We included 154 consecutive patients in two treatment groups:the 'add-on' group(n = 79),in which adefovir was added to ongoing lamivudine treatment due to lamivudine resistance,and the 'switch/combination' group(n = 75),in which lamivudine was first switched to adefovir and then re-added later as needed.The 'switch/combination' group was then divided into two subgroups depending on whether participants followed(group A,n = 30) or violated(group B,n = 45) a proposed treatment strategy that determined whether to add lamivudine based on the serum hepatitis B virus(HBV) DNA levels(< 60 IU/mL or not) after 6 mo of treatment(roadmap concept).RESULTS:The cumulative probability of virologic response(HBV DNA < 60 IU/mL) was higher in group A than in the 'add-on' group and in group B(P < 0.001).In contrast,the cumulative probability of virologic breakthrough was lower in the 'add-on' group than in group B(P = 0.002).Furthermore,the risk of virologic breakthrough in the multivariate analysis was significantly lower in the 'add-on' group than in group A(hazard ratio = 0.096;95%CI,0.015-0.629;P = 0.015).CONCLUSION:The selective combination of adefovir with lamivudine based upon early treatment responses increased the odds of virologic breakthrough relative to the use of uniform combination therapy from the beginning of treatment. | Tae Jung Yun Jin Yong Jung Chang Ha Kim Soon Ho Um Hyonggin An Yeon Seok Seo Jin Dong Kim Hyung Joon Yim Bora Keum Yong Sik Kim Yoon Tae Jeen Hong Sik Lee Hoon Jai Chun Chang Duck Kim Ho Sang Ryu | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,47: | 19 |

| 5 | Applications of rock failure process analysis (RFPA) method显示文摘Brittle failure of rocks is a classical rock mechanical problem.Rock failure not only involves initiation and propagation of single crack,but also is associated with initiation,propagation and coalescence of many cracks.The rock failure process analysis(RFPA)tool has been proposed since 1995.The heterogeneity of rocks at a mesoscopic level is considered by assuming that the material properties follow the Weibull distribution.Elastic damage mechanics is used for describing the constitutive law of the meso-level element.The finite element method(FEM)is employed as the basic stress analysis tool.The maximum tensile strain criterion and the Mohr-Coulomb criterion are utilized as the damage threshold.In order to solve the stability problem related to rock engineering structures,fundamental principles of strength reduction method(SRM)and gravity increase method(GIM)are integrated into the RFPA.And the acoustic emission(AE)event rate is employed as the criterion for rock engineering failure.The prominent feature of the RFPA-SRM and RFPA-GIM for stability analysis of rock engineering is that the factor of safety can be obtained without any presumption for the shape and location of the failure surface.In this paper,several geotechnical engineering applications that use the RFPA method to analyze their stability are presented to provide some references for relevant researches.The principles of the RFPA method in engineering are introduced firstly,and then the stability analysis of tunnel,slope and dam is focused on.The results indicate that the RFPA method is capable of capturing the mechanism of rock engineering stability and has the potential for application in a larger range of geo-engineering. | Chun'an Tang Shibin Tang | 2011 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,4: | 14 |
| 6 | Efficient one-pot synthesis of n-butyl levulinate from carbohydrates catalyzed by Fe_2(SO_4)_3显示文摘Butyl levulinate(BL) is a promising new candidate as diesel fuel and fuel additive. In this study, an efficient process for a one-pot synthesis of BL from biomass-derived carbohydrates in butanol medium with the catalysis of metal sulfates was developed. The catalytic activity of a series of metal sulfates for the synthesis of BL from fructose was investigated. Among various metal sulfates, ferric sulfate Fe_2(SO_4)_3 was found to be the most efficient catalyst, which gave a remarkably high BL yield of 62.8 mol% under the conditions of 463 K, 3 h, a catalyst dosage of 5.0 g/L, and fructose concentration of 25 g/L. Different carbohydrates including glucose, cellulose, inulin and sucrose were also used for one-pot synthesis of BL with the catalysis of Fe_2(SO_4)_3, showing the yields of 39.6, 30.5, 56.6 and 50.1 mol%, respectively. In addition,the recycling and reuse of Fe_2(SO_4)_3 was studied by characterizing them using powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). A plausible reaction pathway for the one-pot synthesis of BL from fructose was proposed. | 7 | Synthesis and Characterization of Sphere-like Pt Nanoparticles Supported on DWCNT/WO_3 Nanorods with Electrocatalytic Activity显示文摘Tungsten oxide(WO3) nanorods, which were used to load platinum(Pt) nanoparticles, were investigated. H2WO4 nanorods with diameters from 10 to 50 nm were obtained when tungsten precursor was added into homogenous double-walled carbon nanotubes(DWCNT) and ethylene glycol(EG) solution.Nanosized rod-like WO3 were achieved after calcination of the DWCNT/H2WO4 composite. Sphere-like Pt nanoparticles were loaded on the surface of the nanorods by EG in-situ reduction. Pt particles were isolated by DWCNT/WO3 nanorods and secondary accumulation could be prevented when Pt particles appeared in the DWCNT/WO3 nanorod/EG dispersion solution. Therefore, Pt nanoparticles with mean diameters of 2–6 nm could be obtained. | 8 | Microseismic monitoring and numerical simulation on the stability of high-steep rock slopes in hydropower engineering显示文摘For high-steep slopes in hydropower engineering, damage can be induced or accumulated due to a series of human or natural activities, including excavation, dam construction, earthquake, rainstorm, rapid rise or drop of water level in the service lifetime of slopes. According to the concept that the progressive damage(microseismicity) of rock slope is the essence of the precursor of slope instability, a microseismic monitoring system for high-steep rock slopes is established. Positioning accuracy of the monitoring system is tested by fixed-position blasting method. Based on waveform and cluster analyses of microseismic events recorded during test, the tempo-spatial distribution of microseismic events is analyzed.The deformation zone in the deep rock masses induced by the microseismic events is preliminarily delimited. Based on the physical information measured by in situ microseismic monitoring, an evaluation method for the dynamic stability of rock slopes is proposed and preliminarily implemented by combining microseismic monitoring and numerical modeling. Based on the rock mass damage model obtained by back analysis of microseismic information, the rock mass elements within the microseismic damage zone are automatically searched by finite element program. Then the stiffness and strength reductions are performed on these damaged elements accordingly. Attempts are made to establish the correlation between microseismic event, strength deterioration and slope dynamic instability, so as to quantitatively evaluate the dynamic stability of slope. The case studies about two practical slopes indicate that the proposed method can reflect the factor of safety of rock slope more objectively. Numerical analysis can help to understand the characteristics and modes of the monitored microseismic events in rock slopes. Microseismic monitoring data and simulation results can be used to mutually modify the sensitive rock parameters and calibrate the model. The composite consists of chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), N,N-dicyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolylsufenamide (DZ), 4,4′-thio-bis(3-methyl-6-tert-buthylphenol) (BPSR) and vapor-grown carbon fiber (VGCF). It is found that either the position or the intensity of damping peak can be controlled by changing the composition of CPE/DZ/BPSR composite. Within a certain composition region, damping peak maximum depends on CPE/DZ ratio, whereas damping peak position is controlled by BPSR content. Moreover, the improvement of storage modulus can be achieved by incorporation of VGCF.
