3Ecological and evolutionary constraints on regional avifauna of passerines in China显示文摘Strong correlations between species diversity and climate have been widely observed,but the mechanism underlying this relationship is unclear.Here,we explored the causes of the richness-climate relationships among passerine birds in China by integrating tropical conservatism and diversification rate hypotheses using path models.We found that assemblages with higher species richness southwest of the Salween-Mekong-Pearl River Divide are phylogenetically overdispersed and have shorter mean root distances(MRDs),while species-rich regions northeast of this divide(e.g.,north Hengduan Mountains-south Qinling Mountains)are phylogenetically clustered and have longer MRDs.The results of the path analyses showed that the direct effect of climatic factors on species richness was stronger than their indirect effects on species richness via phylogenetic relatedness,indicating that neither tropical conservatism nor diversification rate hypotheses can well explain the richness-climate relationship among passerines in China.However,when path analyses were conducted within subregions separately,we found that the tropical conservatism hypothesis was well supported in the southwestern Salween-Mekong-Pearl River Divide,while the diversification rate hypothesis could explain the richness-climate relationship well in the northeastern divide.We conclude that the diversity patterns of passerines in different subregions of the Eastern Himalayas-Mountains of Southwest China may be shaped by different evolutionary processes related to geological and climatic histories,which explains why the tropical conservatism or diversification rate hypothesis alone cannot fully explain the richness-climate relationships.Tianlong Cai Qing Quan Gang Song Yongjie Wu Zhixin Wen Chunlan Zhang Yanhua Qu Gexia Qiao Fumin Lei 2021Current Zoology2021,67,4:0

5Field-induced anisotropic magnetic phase transitions and tricritical phenomena in GdCr_(6)Ge_(6)显示文摘The interaction between complex magnetic structures and non-trivial band structures in ternary rare-earth GdCr_(6)Ge_(6) induces exotic and abundant electro-magnetic phenomena.In this work,we perform a systematical investigation on critical behaviors and magnetic properties of the single-crystal GdCr_(6)Ge_(6).The temperature,field,and angle dependence of magnetization unveils strong magnetic anisotropy along the c-axis and isotropic characteristic in the ab-plane.Critical exponentsβ=0.252(1),γ=0.905(9),δ=4.606(3)for H//ab,andβ=0.281(3),γ=0.991(8),δ=4.541(5)for H//c are obtained by the modified Arrott plot method(MAP)and critical isotherm(CI)analysis.The determined exponents for both directions are consistent with the theoretical prediction of a tricritical mean-field model.Based on detailed magnetization measurements and universality scaling,comprehensive magnetic phase diagrams of GdCr6Ge6for H//ab and H//c are constructed,which reveal that the external field induces a ferromagnetic(FM)transition for H//ab while a ferrimagnetic(FIM)one for H//c.Two tricritical points are determined for H//ab(11.2 K,266.3 Oe)and H//c(11.3 K,3.3 kOe)on the phase diagrams,respectively.The field-induced anisotropic magnetic configurations and multiple phases are clarified,where the moments of Gd and Cr form FM coupling for H//ab while FIM one for H//c via the interaction between Gd and Cr sublattices.Zan Du Azizur Rahman Jiangpeng Song Jun Zhao Wei Liu Jiyu Fan Chunlan Ma Min Ge Yimin Xiong Li Pi Lei Zhang Yuheng Zhang 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,9:0
6Replacing dietary sodium selenite with biogenic selenium nanoparticles improves the growth performance and gut health of early-weaned piglets显示文摘Selenium nanoparticles(SeNPs)are proposed as a safer and more effective selenium delivery system than sodium selenite(Na_(2)SeO_(3)).Here,we investigated the effects of replacing dietary Na_(2)SeO_(3)with SeNPs synthesized by Lactobacillus casei ATCC 393 on the growth performance and gut health of earlyweaned piglets.Seventy-two piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Large Yorkshire)weaned at 21 d of age were divided into the control group(basal diet containing 0.3 mg Se/kg from Na_(2)SeO_(3))and SeNPs group(basal diet containing 0.3 mg Se/kg from SeNPs)during a 14-d feeding period.The results revealed that SeNPs supplementation increased the average daily gain(P=0.022)and average daily feed intake(P=0.033),reduced(P=0.056)the diarrhea incidence,and improved(P=0.013)the feed conversion ratio compared with Na_(2)SeO_(3).Additionally,SeNPs increased jejunal microvilli height(P=0.006)and alleviated the intestinal barrier dysfunction by upregulating(P<0.05)the expression levels of mucin 2 and tight junction proteins,increasing(P<0.05)Se availability,and maintaining mitochondrial structure and function,thereby improving antioxidant capacity and immunity.Furthermore,metabolomics showed that SeNPs can regulate lipid metabolism and participate in the synthesis,secretion and action of parathyroid hormone,proximal tubule bicarbonate reclamation and tricarboxylic acid cycle.Moreover,SeNPs increased(P<0.05)the abundance of Holdemanella and the levels of acetate and propionate.Correlation analysis suggested that Holdemanella was closely associated with the regulatory effects of SeNPs on early-weaned piglets through participating in lipid metabolism.Overall,replacing dietary Na_(2)SeO_(3)with biogenic SeNPs could be a potential nutritional intervention strategy to prevent earlyweaning syndrome in piglets.Lei Qiao Xina Dou Xiaofan Song Jiajing Chang Xiaonan Zeng Lixu Zhu Hongbo Yi Chunlan Xu 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,4:0
7Targeting mitochondria with antioxidant nutrients for the prevention and treatment of postweaning diarrhea in piglets显示文摘Post-weaning diarrhea(PWD)in piglets poses a significant challenge and presents a grave threat to the global swine industry,resulting in considerable financial losses and compromising the welfare of animals.PWD is commonly associated with gut homeostatic imbalance,including oxidative stress,excessive inflammation,and microbiota dysbiosis.Antibiotic use has historically been a common initiative to combat PWD,but concerns about the development of antibiotic resistance have led to increased interest in alternative strategies.Mitochondria are key players in maintaining cellular homeostasis,and their dysfunction is intricately linked to the onset and progression of PWD.Accumulating evidence suggests that targeting mitochondrial function using antioxidant nutrients,such as vitamins,minerals and polyphenolic compounds,may represent a promising approach for preventing and treating PWD.Moreover,nutrients based on antioxidant strategies have been shown to improve mitochondrial function,restore intestinal redox balance,and reduce oxidative damage,which is a key driver of PWD.The present review begins with an overview of the potential interplay between mitochondria and gut homeostasis in the pathogenesis of PWD in piglets.Subsequently,alternative strategies to prevent and treat PWD using antioxidant nutrients to target mitochondria are described and discussed.Ultimately,we delve into potential limitations and suggest future research directions in this field for further advancement.Overall,targeting mitochondria using antioxidant nutrients may be a promising approach to combat PWD and provides a potential nutrition intervention strategy for regulating gut homeostasis of weaned piglets.Lei Qiao Xina Dou Xiaofan Song Jiajing Chang Hongbo Yi Chunlan Xu 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,4:0
