| 1 | New perspectives on probiotics in health and disease显示文摘The gut microbiota continues to fascinate scientists in many realms when it is considered that humans contain 90%bacteria.Correlations between changes in composition and activity of the gut microbiota and common disorders such as cancer,hypertension,hypercholesterolemia,inflammatory bowel diseases,obesity,oral health,etc.have been proposed.What is the real role of probiotics,prebiotics and synbiotics in influencing a healthy microbiota?Both in vitro evidences and in vivo clinical data have supported some of these new health claims,while recent molecular advancement has provided strong indications to support and justify the hypotheses.However,probiotics validity and health claims have continuously been rejected on the basis of“biomarker deficiency”.To battle the increase in health care costs,a preventive approach to medicine with the development of probiotics and prebiotics or symbiotic products is being advanced.This review discusses the potential beneficial effects of probiotics in preventing and treating certain diseases as well as current and future perspectives of probiotic research. | Eric Banan-Mwine Daliri Byong H.Lee | 2015 | Food Science and Human Wellness2015，4，2： | 4 |
| 2 | CELL ADHESION AND SURFACE PROPERTIES OF POLYSTYRENE SURFACES GRAFTED WITH POLY(N-ISOPROPYLACRYLAMIDE)显示文摘Cell adhesion plays a key role in various aspects of biological and medical sciences. In this study, poly(Nisopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM) was grafted on polystyrene surfaces using different solvents under UV radiation.Moreover, the relation between surface roughness and cell adhesion were evaluated by gravimetric, SEM, AFM, contact angle measurement and cellular analyses. The gravimetric analysis clearly indicated an increase in the grafting by adding10% methanol to water. The study of surface topography by AFM images showed an increase in the surface roughness and as a result of which, a decrease in wettablity was observed. At 37 C, epithelial cells were well attached and proliferated on the grafted surfaces, while these cells were spontaneously detached below 32 °C in the absence of any enzymes. Moreover,MTT assay and SEM images indicated good cell viability and an increase in cell adhesion caused by the roughness increase. | 3 | Simultaneous extraction and preconcentration of copper,silver and palladium with modified alumina and their determination by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry显示文摘In the present work,an easy solid phase extraction method using alumina modified with polyethylenimine as a new adsorbent was applied to the simultaneous extraction of copper,silver,and palladium ions prior to their determination with electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry.The analytical procedure involved the complex formation of these cations with polyethylenimine as a chelating agent in buffer media of pH 7.0.Under the optimum conditions,a preconcentration factor of200,150,and 200,precision of ±5.4%,±4.7%,and ±5.2%and linear calibration ranges of 15.0-140,4.0-93,and 7.5-125 ng/L(in original solution) for Cu,Ag,and Pd were obtained,respectively.Also detection limits of3.9,1.1,and 2.0 ng/L were obtained for Cu,Ag,and Pd,respectively.The proposed method was applied to the determination of copper,silver,and palladium in some real samples with satisfactory results. | Mohammad Ali Taher Zahra Daliri Hamid Fazelirad | 2014 | Chinese Chemical Letters2014，25，4： | 3 |
