1Clonal variations in cone,seed and nut traits in a Pinus koraiensis seed orchard in Northeast China显示文摘Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis Siebold&Zucc.)in Northeastern China has been genetically improved to increase seed yields in addition to timber.To assess seed yield variability and select highly productive clones,14 cone,seed and nut traits were measured and analyzed.Variance analysis showed that all clones were signifi cantly different in various traits(P<0.01).Phenotypic coeffi cients of variation and repeatability of traits ranged from 9.1 to 34.4%and from 27.5 to 97.7%,respectively.Except for the cone layer and cone seed numbers,the other traits were positively or negatively correlated.Three principal components were identifi ed.Seed and nut traits were the most important traits in the fi rst principal component,and cone traits more important in the second.Using correlation and principal component analyses,cone number and other traits were selected to evaluate materials.Twenty-two clones were selected using a selection rate of 10%based on cone number independently or other combined traits.The genetic gain for diff erent traits ranged from 6.2 to 24.3%.The selected elite clones can supply seedlings for reforestation and the selection method can provide a theoretical basis for selection in other conifer species.David Kombi Kaviriri Yuxi Li Dawei Zhang Hongtao Li Zuoyi Fan Jingyuan Wang Lianfu Wang Qi Wang Deqiu Wang Vincent L.Chiang Xiyang Zhao 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,1:3

3Oxygen Isotopic Compositions in a Plagioclase-Olivine Inclusion from Ningqiang Similar to Those in Al-rich Chondrules显示文摘We report the petrology and oxygen isotopic composition,using a Cameca Nano SIMS 50L ion microprobe,of a plagioclase-olivine inclusion,C#1,found in the Ningqiang carbonaceous chondrite.In addition to major phases(plagioclase,spinel and olivine),C#1 is also surrounded by a pyroxene rim(64 vol%Ca-rich and 36 vol%Ca-poor pyroxenes).On a three-isotope oxygen diagram,δ^(17)O vs.δ^(18)O,the compositions of individual minerals analyzed in C#1 fall along the carbonaceous chondrite anhydrous mineral line(CCAM),and oxygen isotopic compositions in C#1 show significant variability in δ^(18)O and δ^(17)O.The oxygen isotopic compositions of the pyroxene rim minerals are similar to those of the other host minerals,which suggests that the rim likely formed from the same melting process as the host.The rim is considered to have formed as a result of interaction between an ^(16)O-poor gas and a melt.Some spinel grains are typically ^(16)O-rich and likely of relict origin,which is similar to ^(16)O-rich Ca-,Al-rich inclusions,which are probably a precursor of C#1.The inclusion then likely melted in an ^(16)O-poor region where chondrules form,accompanied by oxygen isotope exchange with an ^(16)O-poor gas.Some anorthite,pyroxene and spinel might have undergone fluid-assisted thermal metamorphism on the Ningqiang chondrite parent body.The oxygen isotope data and evolution of the C#1 plagioclase-olivine inclusion are similar with those of Al-chondrules in chondrites.DAI Deqiu BAO Haimei LIU Shuang YIN Feng 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,5:2
4Strontium-substituted sub-micron bioactive glasses inhibit ostoclastogenesis through suppression of RANKL-induced signaling pathway显示文摘Strontium-substituted bioactive glass(Sr-BG)has shown superior performance in bone regeneration.Sr-BG-induced osteogenesis has been extensively studied;however,Sr-BG-mediated osteoclastogenesis and the underlying molecular mechanism remain unclear.It is recognized that the balance of osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis is closely related to bone repair,and the receptor activators of nuclear factor kappaB ligand(RANKL)signaling pathway plays a key role of in the regulation of osteoclastogenesis.Herein,we studied the potential impact and underling mechanism of strontium-substituted sub-micron bioactive glass(Sr-SBG)on RANKL-induced osteoclast activation and differentiation in vitro.As expected,Sr-SBG inhibited RANKL-mediated osteoclastogenesis significantly with the experimental performance of decreased mature osteoclasts formation and downregulation of osteoclastogenesis-related gene expression.Furthermore,it was found that Sr-SBG might suppress osteoclastogenesis by the combined effect of strontium and silicon released through inhibition of RANKL-induced activation of p38 and NF-κB pathway.These results elaborated the effect of Sr-SBG-based materials on osteoclastogenesis through RANKLinduced downstream pathway and might represent a significant guidance for designing better bone repair materials.Deqiu Huang Fujian Zhao Wendong Gao Xiaofeng Chen Zhouyi Guo Wen Zhang 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,3:2
