Fabrication of asymmetric poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide)nanofiltration membrane for chromium(VI) removal显示文摘The feasibility of employing nanofiltration for the removal of chromium(VI) from wastewater was investigated. Poly (m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) was used to fabricate asymmetric nanofiltration membrane through the phase-inversion technique. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to characterize the obtained membrane, and the both confirmed a much smoother surface which could reduce membrane fouling. The PMIA membrane showed different rejections to electrolytes in a sequence of Na2SO4 > MgSO4 > NaCl > MgCl2, which was similar to the sequence of the negatively charged nanofiltration membranes. Separation experiments on chromium(VI) solution were conducted at various operating conditions, such as feed concentration, applied pressure and pH. It is concluded that chromium(VI) could be effectively removed from chromiumcontaining wastewater by the PMIA nanofiltration membranes while maintaining their pollution resistance under alkaline condition. | Xiaojing Ren Changwei Zhao Songshan Du Tao Wang Zhaokun Luan Jun Wang Deyin Hou | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,9: | 9
Fluoride removal from brackish groundwater by direct contact membrane distillation显示文摘The direct contact membrane distillation applied for fluoride removal from brackish groundwater was investigated. The self-prepared polyvinylidene fluoride membrane exhibited high rejection of inorganic salt solutes. The maximum permeate flux 35.6 kg/(m2 ·hr) was obtained with the feed solution at 80°C and the cold distillate water at 20°C.The feed concentration had no significant impact on the permeate flux and the rejection in fluoride. The precipitation of CaCO3 would clog the hollow fiber inlets and foul the membrane surface with increasing concentration factor when natural groundwater was used directly as the feed, which resulted in a rapid decline in the module efficiency. This phenomenon was diminished by acidification of the feed. The experimental results showed that the permeate flux and the quality of obtained distillate kept stable before concentration factor reached 5.0 with the acidified groundwater as feed. The membrane module efficiency began to decline gradually when the feed continued to be concentrated, which can be mainly attributed to the formation of CaF2 deposits on the membrane surface. In addition,a 300 hr continuous fluoride removal experiment of acidified groundwater was carried out with concentration factor at 4.0,the permeate flux kept stable and the permeate fluoride was not detected. | Deyin Hou Jun Wang Changwei Zhao Baoqiang Wang Zhaokun Luan Xiangcheng Sun | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12: | 7
A novel selective autophagy receptor,CCDC50,delivers K63 polyubiquitination-activated RIG-I/MDA5 for degradation during viral infection显示文摘Autophagy is a con served process that delivers cytosolic substa nces to the lysosome for degradatio n,but its direct role in the regulation of antiviral inn ate immu nity remains poorly un derstood. Here, through high-throughput screeni ng,we discovered that CCDC50 functions as a previously unknown autophagy receptor that negatively regulates the type I interferon(IFN)signaling pathway initiated by RIG-I-like receptors(RLRs),the sensors for RNA viruses. The expression of CCDC50 is enhanced by viral infection, and CCDC50 specifically recognizes K63-polyubiquitinated RLRs,thus delivering the activated RIG-I/MDA5 for autophagic degradation. The associatio n of CCDC50 with phagophore membrane protei n LC3 is con firmed by crystal structure analysis. In contrast to other known autophagic cargo receptors that associate with either the LIR-docking site(LDS)or the UIMdocking site(UDS)of LC3,CCDC50 can bind to both LDS and UDS,representing a new type of cargo receptor. In mouse models with RNA virus infection,CCDC50 deficiency reduces the autophagic degradation of RIG-I/MDA5 and promotes type I IFN responses, resulting in enhaneed viral resistance and improved survival rates. These results reveal a new link between autophagy and antiviral innate immune resp on ses and provide additional in sights into the regulatory mecha nisms of RLR-mediated antiviral signaling. | Panpan Hou Kongxiang Yang Penghui Jia Lan Liu Yuxin Lin Zibo Li Jun Li Shuliang Chen Shuting Guo Ji'An Pan Junyu Wu Hong Peng Weijie Zeng Chunmei Li Yingfang Liu Deyin Guo | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,1: | 5
Hydroxyl carboxylate based non-phosphorus corrosion inhibition process for reclaimed water pipeline and downstream recirculating cooling water system显示文摘A combined process was developed to inhibit the corrosion both in the pipeline of reclaimed water supplies(PRWS) and in downstream recirculating cooling water systems(RCWS)using the reclaimed water as makeup. Hydroxyl carboxylate-based corrosion inhibitors(e.g.,gluconate, citrate, tartrate) and zinc sulfate heptahydrate, which provided Zn^(2+)as a synergistic corrosion inhibition additive, were added prior to the PRWS when the phosphate(which could be utilized as a corrosion inhibitor) content in the reclaimed water was below 1.7 mg/L, and no additional corrosion inhibitors were required for the downstream RCWS.Satisfactory corrosion inhibition was achieved even if the RCWS was operated under the condition of high numbers of concentration cycles. The corrosion inhibition requirement was also met by the appropriate combination of PO_4^(3-) and Zn^(2+) when the phosphate content in the reclaimed water was more than 1.7 mg/L. The process integrated not only water reclamation and reuse, and the operation of a highly concentrated RCWS, but also the comprehensive utilization of phosphate in reclaimed water and the application of non-phosphorus corrosion inhibitors. The proposed process reduced the operating cost of the PRWS and the RCWS, and lowered the environmental hazard caused by the excessive discharge of phosphate. Furthermore, larger amounts of water resources could be conserved as a result. | Jun Wang Dong Wang Deyin Hou | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,1: | 4
Fabrication of PVDF nanofibrous hydrophobic composite membranes reinforced with fabric substrates via electrospinning for membrane distillation desalination显示文摘To improve the mechanical properties of the electrospun nanofibrous membrane, the nonwoven fabrics and spacer fabrics were employed as support substrates to fabricate polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) nanofibrous composite membranes. The influences of the substrate on membrane morphology, hydrophobicity, pore size and pore size distribution, porosity, mechanical strength and permeability were comprehensive evaluated. The electrospun composite membranes had a three dimension bead-fiber interconnected open structure and a rough membrane surface. The membrane surface presented a multilevel re-entrant structure and all the water contact angles were above 140°. In contrast with the pure PVDF nanofibrous membrane, the stress at break and the elastic modulus of the composite membranes increased by 4.5–16 times and 17.5–37 times, respectively. Since the spacer fabrics had less resistance to mass transfer, the membranes composited with spacer fabrics exhibited greater permeate fluxes compared with the composite membranes with the nonwoven fabrics as substrates.During the membrane distillation test, the highest permeate flux was up to 49.3 kg/m^2/hr at the feed temperature of 80°C. The long-time and repeat operation of membrane distillation desalination indicated the fabricated membrane with a good resistance to scaling and wetting. The results suggested the potential of the electrospun composite membrane for membrane distillation application. | Kuiling Li Deyin Hou Chaochen Fu Kai Wang Jun Wang | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,1: | 4
Preparation of high concentration polyaluminum chloride by chemical synthesis-membrane distillation method with self-made hollow fiber membrane显示文摘A method of direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) with a self-made hollow polyvinylidene fluoride membrane was applied to prepare high concentration polyaluminum chloride (PACl) with high Alb content based on chemical synthesis. The permeate flux and Al species distribution were investigated. The experimental results showed that the permeate flux decreased from 14 to 6 kg/(m2·hr) at the end of the DCMD process, which can be mainly attributed to the formation of NaCl deposits on the membrane surface. The Alb content decreased slightly, only from 86.3% to 84.4%, when the DCMD experiment finished, correspondingly the Alc content increased slightly from 7.2% to 8.5%, and the Ala content remained at 7% during the whole DCMD process. A PACl with Alb content of 84% at total aluminum concentration 2.2 mol/L was successfully prepared by the chemical synthesis-DCMD method. | Changwei Zhao Yong Yan Deyin Hou Zhaokun Luan Zhiping Jia | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,5: | 3
Autophagy receptor CCDC50 tunes the STING-mediated interferon response in viral infections and autoimmune diseases显示文摘DNA sensing and timely activation of interferon(IFN)-mediated innate immunity are crucial for the defense against DNA virus infections and the clearance of abnormal cells. However, overactivation of immune responses may lead to tissue damage and autoimmune diseases;therefore, these processes must be intricately regulated.STING is the key adaptor protein, which is activated by cyclic GMP-AMP,the second messenger derived from cGAS-mediated DNA sensing. Here,we report that CCDC50,a newly identified autophagy receptor, tunes STING-directed type I IFN signaling activity by delivering K63-polyubiquitinated STING to autolysosomes for degradation.Knockout of CCDC50 significantly increases herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)-or DNA ligand-induced production of type I IFN and proinflammatory cytokines.Ccdc50-deficient mice show increased production of IFN,decreased viral replication, reduced cell infiltration, and improved survival rates compared with their wild-type littermates when challenged with HSV-1.Remarkably,the expression of CCDC50 is downregulated in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),a chronic autoimmune disease.CCDC50 levels are negatively correlated with IFN signaling pathway activation and disease severity in human SLE patients.CCDC50 deficiency potentiates the cGAS-STING-mediated immune response triggered by SLE serum. Thus, our findings reveal the critical role of CCDC50 in the immune regulation of viral infections and autoimmune diseases and provide insights into the therapeutic implications of CCDC50 manipulation. | Panpan Hou Yuxin Lin Zibo Li Ruiqing Lu Yicheng Wang Tian Tian Penghui Jia Xi Zhang Liu Cao Zhongwei Zhou Chunmei Li Jieruo Gu Deyin Guo | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,10: | 3
Effect of environmental C/N ratio on activities of lignin-degrading enzymes produced by Phanerochaete chrysosporium显示文摘Lignin-degrading enzymes secreted by white rot fungi play an important role in the degradation of lignin and persistent organic pollutants(POPs).In this study, effect of environmental C/N ratio on the activities of lignin-degrading enzymes, lignin peroxide(Li P)and manganese peroxidase(Mn P),produced by Phanerochaete chrysosporium,a white rot fungus, was investigated.Glucose was used as C source, and ammonium tartrate of different concentrations was used as N source to provide different C/N ratios.Relationships between Li P and Mn P activities and environmental C/N ratio were explored. The results showed that the higher the N source concentration, the faster the mycelium pellets aged. The faster the mycelium dry weight increased, the higher the Li P and Mn P activities.A high C/N ratio was a necessary condition for the secretion of Li P or Mn P.In addition, mycelium dry weight essentially affected enzyme activities. In the 122 C/N ratio and 50 C/N ratio treatments, mycelium dry weight essentially affected Mn P activity and both Li P and Mn P activities, respectively. | Saihua HUANG Deyin HUANG Qitang WU Meifang HOU Xiaoyan TANG Jian ZHOU | 2020 | Pedosphere2020,30,2: | 3
Fabrication and performance of PET mesh enhanced cellulose acetate membranes for forward osmosis显示文摘Polyethylene terephthalate mesh(PET) enhanced cellulose acetate membranes were fabricated via a phase inversion process. The membrane fabrication parameters that may affect the membrane performance were systematically evaluated including the concentration and temperature of the casting polymer solution and the temperature and time of the evaporation, coagulation and annealing processes. The water permeability and reverse salt flux were measured in forward osmosis(FO) mode for determination of the optimal membrane fabrication conditions. The optimal FO membrane shows a typical asymmetric sandwich structure with a mean thickness of about 148.2 μm. The performance of the optimal FO membrane was tested using 0.2 mol/L Na Cl as the feed solution and 1.5 mol/L glucose as the draw solution. The membrane displayed a water flux of 3.47 L/(m2·hr) and salt rejection of95.48% in FO mode. While in pressure retarded osmosis(PRO) mode, the water flux was4.74 L/(m2·hr) and salt rejection 96.03%. The high ratio of water flux in FO mode to that in PRO mode indicates that the fabricated membrane has a lower degree of internal concentration polarization than comparable membranes. | Guoliang Li Jun Wang Deyin Hou Yu Bai Huijuan Liu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,7: | 2
Anchoring eccentricity features and rectifying devices for resin grouted bolt/cable bolt显示文摘The anchoring eccentricity of the bolt and cable bolt is a common problem in geotechnical support engineering and affects the ability of the bolt and cable bolt to control the rock mass to a certain extent. This paper reports on numerical simulation and laboratory experiments conducted to clarify the effect of eccentricity on the anchoring quality of the bolt and cable bolt, and to establish an effective solution strategy. The results reveal that the anchoring eccentricity causes unbalanced stress distribution and the uncoordinated deformation of the resin layer, which results in higher stress and greater deformation of the resin layer at the near side of the rod body.Additionally,as the degree of anchoring eccentricity increases, the effect becomes more significant, and the resin layer of the anchoring system becomes more likely to undergo preferential failure locally, which weakens the load-bearing performance of the anchoring system. This paper develops an innovative bolt anchoring rectifying device(B-ARD)and cable bolt anchoring rectifying device(C-ARD)on the basis of the structural characteristics of the bolt and cable bolt to better ensure the anchoring effect of them. The working effects of these two devices were verified in detailed experiments and analysis. The experimental results show that the anchoring rectifying devices(ARD)improve and ensure the anchoring concentricity of the bolt and cable bolt, which will help improve the supporting performance of them. The paper provides a convenient and effective method for improving the anchoring concentricity of the bolt and cable bolt, and provides a concept and reference for technical research on improving the effect of roof bolting. | Shaowei Liu Deyin He Housheng Jia Mengxiong Fu Biao Hou | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,5: | 1

Endogenous reverse transcriptase and RNase H-mediated antiviral mechanism in embryonic stem cells显示文摘Nucleic acid-based systems play important roles in antiviral defense, including CRISPR/Cas that adopts RNA-guided DNA cleavage to prevent DNA phage infection and RNA interference(RNAi)that employs RNA-guided RNA cleavage to defend against RNA virus infection. Here,we report a novel type of nucleic acid-based antiviral system that exists in mouse embryonic stem cells(mESCs),which suppresses RNA virus infection by DNA-mediated RNA cleavage. We found that the viral RNA of encephalomyocarditis virus can be reverse transcribed into complementary DNA(vcDNA)by the reverse transcriptase(RTase)encoded by endogenous retrovirus-like elements in mESCs.The vcDNA is negative-sense single-stranded and forms DNA/RNA hybrid with viral RNA.The viral RNA in the heteroduplex is subsequently destroyed by cellular RNase H1,leading to robust suppression of viral growth. | Junyu Wu Chunyan Wu Fan Xing Liu Cao Weijie Zeng Liping Guo Ping Li Yongheng Zhong Hualian Jiang Manhui Luo Guang Shi Lang Bu Yanxi Ji Panpan Hou Hong Peng Junjiu Huang Chunmei Li Deyin Guo | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,9: | 0

Suppression of HIV-1 Integration by Targeting HIV-1 Integrase for Degradation with A Chimeric Ubiquitin Ligase显示文摘Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) attacks human immune system and causes life-threatening acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS). Treatment with combination antiretroviral therapy(cART) could inhibit virus growth and slow progression of the disease, however, at the same time posing various adverse effects. Host ubiquitin-proteasome pathway(UPP) plays important roles in host immunity against pathogens including viruses by inducing degradation of viral proteins. Previously a series of methods for retargeting substrates for ubiquitin-proteasome degradation have been successfully established. In this study, we attempted to design and construct artificial chimeric ubiquitin ligases(E3 s) based on known human E3 s in order to manually target HIV-1 integrase for ubiquitin proteasome pathway-mediated degradation.Herein, a series of prototypical chimeric E3 s have been designed and constructed, and original substrate-binding domains of these E3 s were replaced with host protein domains which interacted with viral proteins. After functional assessment screening, 146 LI was identified as a functional chimeric E3 for HIV-1 NL4-3 integrase. 146 LI was then further optimized to generate 146 LIS(146 LI short) which has been shown to induce Lys48-specific polyubiquitination and reduce protein level of HIV-1 NL4-3 integrase more effectively in cells. Lymphocyte cells with 146 LIS knock-in generated by CRISPR/Cas-mediated homology-directed repair(HDR) showed remarkably decreased integration of HIV-1 NL4-3 viral DNAs and reduced viral replication without obvious cell cytotoxicity. Our study successfully obtained an artificial chimeric E3 which can induce Lys48-specific polyubiquitination and proteasome-mediated degradation of HIV-1 NL4-3 integrase, thus effectively inhibiting viral DNA integration and viral replication upon virus infection. | Zuopeng Zhang Sen Yuan Shuting Xu Deyin Guo Lang Chen Wei Hou Min Wang | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,3: | 0
