3Evaluation of Antimycobacterial Activity of Higenamine Using Galleria mellonella as an In Vivo Infection Model显示文摘The Phytochemical investigation on MeOH extract on the bark of Aristolochia brasiliensis Mart.&Zucc(Aristolochi-aceae)led to the isolation of major compound(1)as light brown grainy crystals.The compound was identified as 1-(4-hydroxybenzyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-6,7-diol(higenamine)on the basis of spectroscopic analysis,including 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.The compound was evaluated for its antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium indicus pranii(MIP),using Galleria mellonella larva as an in vivo infection model.The survival of MIP infected larvae after a single dose treatment of 100 mg/kg body weight of higenamine was 80%after 24 h.Quantitatively the compound exhibited a dose dependent activity,as evidenced by the reduction of colony density from 10^(5) to 10^(3) CFU for test concentrations of 50,100,150 and 200 mg/kg body weight respectively.The IC50 value for higenamine was 161.6 mg/kg body weight as calculated from a calibration curve.Further analysis showed that,a complete inhibition of MIP in the G.mellonella could be achieved at 334 mg/kg body weight.Despite the fact that MIP has been found to be highly resistant against isoniazid(INH)in an in vitro assay model,in this study the microbe was highly susceptible to this standard anti-TB drug.The isolation of higenamine from the genus Aristolochia and the method used to evaluate its in vivo antimycobacterial activity in G.mellonella are herein reported for the first time.Paul Erasto Richard Sunguruma Joan J.Munissi Victor Wiketye Charles de Konig Atallah F.Ahmed 2018Natural Products and Bioprospecting2018,8,1:1

9Submegahertz spectral width photon pair source based on fused silica microspheres显示文摘High-efficiency submegahertz bandwidth photon pair generators will enable the field of quantum technology to transition from laboratory demonstrations to transformational applications involving information transfer from photons to atoms.While spontaneous parametric processes are able to achieve high-efficiency photon pair generation,the spectral bandwidth tends to be relatively large,as defined by phase-matching constraints.To solve this fundamental limitation,we use an ultrahigh quality factor(Q)fused silica microsphere resonant cavity to form a photon pair generator.We present the full theory for the spontaneous four-wave mixing(SFWM)process in these devices,fully taking into account all relevant source characteristics in our experiments.The exceptionally narrow(down to kilohertz-scale)linewidths of these devices result in a reduction in the bandwidth of the photon pair generation,allowing submegahertz spectral bandwidth to be achieved.Specifically,using a pump source centered around 1550 nm,photon pairs with the signal and idler modes at wavelengths close to 1540 and 1560 nm,respectively,are demonstrated.We herald a single idler-mode photon by detecting the corresponding signal photon,filtered via transmission through a wavelength division multiplexing channel of choice.We demonstrate the extraction of the spectral profile of a single peak in the single-photon frequency comb from a measurement of the signal–idler time of emission distribution.These improvements in device design and experimental methods enabled the narrowest spectral width(Δν=366 k Hz)to date in a heralded single-photon source based on SFWM.ERASTO ORTIZ-RICARDO CESAR BERTONI-OCAMPO MONICA MALDONADO-TERRON ARTURO GARCIA ZURITA ROBERTO RAMIREZ-ALARCON HECTOR CRUZ RAMIREZ R.CASTRO-BELTRAN ALFRED B.U’REN 2021Photonics Research2021,9,11:0
