| 1 | Current and future predicting potential areas of Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Richard)using MaxEnt model under climate change in Northern Ethiopia显示文摘Introduction:Climate change will either improve,reduce,or shift its appropriate climatic habitat of a particular species,which could result in shifts from its geographical range.Predicting the potential distribution through MaxEnt modeling has been developed as an appropriate tool for assessing habitat distribution and resource conservation to protect bamboo species.Methods:Our objective is to model the current and future distribution of Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Richard)based on three representative concentration pathways(RCP)(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)for 2050s and 2070s using a maximum entropy model(MaxEnt)in Northern Ethiopia.For modeling procedure,77 occurrence records and 11 variables were retained to simulate the current and future distributions of Oxytenanthera abyssinica in Northern Ethiopia.To evaluate the performance of the model,the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC)was used.Results:All of the AUCs(area under curves)were greater than 0.900,thereby placing these models in the“excellent”category.The jackknife test also showed that precipitation of the coldest quarter(Bio19)and precipitation of the warmest quarter(Bio18)contributed 66.8%and 54.7%to the model.From the area of current distribution,1367.51 km2(2.52%),7226.28 km2(13.29%),and 5377.26 km2(9.89%)of the study area were recognized as high,good,and moderate potential habitats of Oxytenanthera abyssinica in Northern Ethiopia,and the high potential area was mainly concentrated in Tanqua Abergele(0.70%),Kola Temben(0.65%),Tselemti(0.60%),and Tsegede(0.31%).Kafta Humera was also the largest good potential area,which accounts for 2.75%.Compared to the current distribution,the total area of the high potential regions and good potential regions for Oxytenanthera abyssinica under the three RCPs(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)would increase in the 2050s and 2070s.However,the total area of the least potential regions under the three RCPs(RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5)in 2050s and 2070s would decrease.Conclusion:This study can provide vital information for the protection,management,and sustainable use of Oxytenanthera abyssinica,the resource to address the global climate challenges. | Yikunoamlak Gebrewahid Selemawi Abrehe Esayas Meresa Gebru Eyasu Kiros Abay Gebrehiwot Gebreab Kiros Kidanemariam Gezu Adissu Gebrekidan Abreha Girmay Darcha | 2020 | Ecological Processes2020,9,1: | 4 |
| 2 | Dispersed trees on smallholder farms enhance soil fertility in semi-arid Ethiopia显示文摘Introduction:Dispersed trees such as Oxytenanthera abyssinica(A.Rich.)and Dalbergia melanoxylon(Guill.&Perr.)which are objectively maintained or planted on farmland provide a significant contribution to soil fertility improvement.However,there was no quantitative information on the level of soil nutrient additions of these trees to the soil system.Methods:This study was conducted on the farmers’fields in Kafta Humera district,Tigray region(northern Ethiopia),where mature stands of O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon trees exist.Radial distance-based soil sampling(under the canopy,near to canopy,and far from canopy)was adopted to quantify the role of these trees on soil fertility improvement.Soil parameters tested were soil reaction(pH),total nitrogen(TN),available phosphorus(AvP),electrical conductivity(EC),cation exchange capacity(CEC),and organic carbon(OC).Results:There was a negative linear relationship between the radial distance of the O.abyssinica tree trunk and soil TN,OC,CEC,and AvP contents but not for pH.Similarly,negative linear relationship between distance from D.melanoxylon and TN,OC,and AvP was obtained.The average total nitrogen(0.26%and 0.13%),available phosphorus(7.21 ppm and 6.37 ppm),and organic carbon(1.73%and 1.02%)contents were respectively higher under the tree canopies of O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon compared with the adjacent open canopies.The amount of soil OC,TN,AvP,and CEC under O.abyssinica tree species was also significantly higher by 69%,100%,13%,and 42%compared to that of D.melanoxylon tree species.However,the amount of EC and soil pH was significantly lower by 57%and 19%,respectively.Conclusion:In general,O.abyssinica and D.melanoxylon added a significant amount of nutrients to the soil.Thus,retaining these important tree species on farmland played a positive role in replenishing soil fertility for resource-constrained households so as to reduce chemical fertilizer amendments. | Yikunoamlak Gebrewahid Kassa Teka Tewolde-Berhan Gebre-Egziabhier Sara Tewolde-Berhan Emiru Birhane Gebru Eyasu Esayas Meresa | 2019 | Ecological Processes2019,8,1: | 1 |

| 9 | 颅内海绵状血管瘤的不典型影像学表现及误诊分析显示文摘目的分析颅内海绵状血管瘤(ICA)的不典型影像学表现及误诊原因,提高对ICA影像学表现的认识。方法回顾性分析17例经手术病理证实的不典型ICA的MRI表现,包括发病部位、病变形态、病变信号特点,并结合手术及病理,分析不典型影像学表现的病理基础及术前误诊原因。结果17例ICA均为单发,其中15例位于脑内。病变长径3.2~8.4 cm,平均约4.3 cm。2例表现以囊性改变为主,均位于大脑半球皮层下区,1例呈大囊小结节样改变,结节部分边缘见极低信号环,1例为多发小囊样改变,病变边缘及部分囊内见极低信号。13例表现为含不同时期出血的混杂信号团块,4例呈结节并周围囊腔样出血改变,结节边缘见低信号环,3例表现为边界清楚的高低混杂信号并周围低信号环,6例表现为不规则形混杂信号病灶并周围环状低信号,增强扫描后仅1例可见强化,余强化不明显。2例位于脑外,1例位于右侧侧脑室枕角内,1例位于左侧颞部,病变信号混杂,均可见强化。结论当ICA表现不典型时,病变周围低信号环及病变内的极低信号对诊断有提示意义。 | 何莹 毛翠平 李兴华 杨全新 Kifle Esayas Tiruneh 张秋娟 | 2020 | 实用放射学杂志2020,36,10: | 1 |

| 14 | Efficiency of locally available filter media on fluoride and phosphate removal for household water treatment system显示文摘Since conventional water treatment is not affordable in developing countries,looking for locally available and alternative treatment options is mandatory.Removal of fluoride and phosphate can be achieved by designing appropriate filtration media from different materials such as sand,calcined clay,pumice,scoria and bone char.This study was designed to determine the removal efficiency of these locally available filter media with respect to detention time and pH.The filtration apparatuses(tank)were filled separately with stone,gravel with grain size 0.6-4.75 mm and 40 cm deep,sand(ES=0.15-0.35 mm and UC=1.5-3),calcined clay,pumice,scoria and bone char with grain size 0.25-0.5 inch.Water samples were prepared using glass bottles with fluoride concentrations of 6 and 8 mg/l and phosphate concentration of 4 mg/1.Laboratory analysis was carried out before and after filtration to determine the removal efficiency of each medium.It was found that the highest removal of fluoride was achieved by bone char(89.65%),followed by pumice(82.4%).However,bone char has rather increased the concentration of phosphate by 63.8%.Sand was the most efficient media to remove phosphate,managing to remove by 70%.Therefore,it is an attractive option to use these locally available,environmental friendly and appropriate technologies for efficient removal of both fluorine and phosphate at the household or community water treatment level. | Mekonnen Birhane Alebel Abebe Esayas Alemayehu Embialle Mengistie | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2014,12,2: | 0 |

| 16 | Malaria epidemiology and stratification of incidence in the malaria elimination setting in Harari Region,Eastern Ethiopia显示文摘Background: Ethiopia has shown notable progress in reducing the burden of malaria over the past two decades.Because of this progress,the country has shifted efforts from control to elimination of malaria.This study was conducted to analyse the malaria epidemiology and stratification of incidence in the malaria elimination setting in eastern Ethiopia.Methods:: A retrospective study was conducted to analyse the epidemiology of malaria by reviewing the district health office data from 2013 to 2019 in Harari Region.In addition,three years of sub-district level malaria data were used to stratify the malaria transmission intensity.Malaria interventions(Long-lasting insecticidal nets[LLIN]and indoor residual spraying[IRS])employed were reviewed to analyse the intervention coverage at the Regional level.Descriptive statistics were used to show the malaria transmission in terms of years,season and species of the malaria parasite.Incidence rate per 1000 population and death rate per 1000000 population at risk were computed using the total population of each year.Results: In the Harari Region,malaria incidence showed a more pronounced declining trend from 2017 to 2019.Plasmodium falciparum,P.vivax and mixed infections accounted for 69.2%,30.6%and 0.2%of the cases,respectively.There was an increment in malaria intervention coverage and improved malaria diagnosis.In the year 2019 the coverage of LLIN and IRS in the Region were 93.4%and 85.1%respectively.The annual malaria incidence rate dropped from 42.9 cases per 1000 population in 2013 to 6.7 cases per 1000 population in 2019.Malaria-related deaths decreased from 4.7 deaths per 1000000 people annually in 2013 to zero,and there have been no deaths reported since 2015.The malaria risk appears to be heterogeneous and varies between districts.A higher number of malaria cases were recorded in Erer and Jenella districts,which constitute 62%of the cases in the Region.According to the sub-district level malaria stratification,there was shrinkage in the malaria transmission map and about 70%of the sub-districts have achieved elimination targets.Conclusions: In the Harari Region,malaria morbidity and mortality have been significantly declined.Thus,if this achievement is sustained and scaling-up of the existing malaria prevention and control strategies by focusing on those populations living in the higher malaria transmission districts and sub-districts,planning of malaria elimination from the study area might be feasible. | Endashaw Esayas Asefa Tufa Fekadu Massebo Abdulhamid Ahemed Ibssa Ibrahim Dereje Dillu Eyuel Asemahegn Bogale Solomon Yared Kebede Deribe | 2020 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,6: | 0 |
