1Strength properties of soft clay treated with mixture of nano-SiO_2 and recycled polyester fiber显示文摘This paper investigates the effect of recycled polyester fiber, produced from polyethylene(PET) bottles, in combination with nano-Si O2 as a new stabilizer to improve the mechanical properties of soils. We intend to study the effect of adding nano-Si O2 and recycled polyester fiber on soil engineering properties,especially the shear strength and unconfined compressive strength(UCS), using clayey soil with low liquid limit. Three different combinations of fiber-soil ratios ranging between 0.1% and 0.5% as well as three different combinations of nano-soil ratios ranging between 0.5% and 1% are used. The shear strength and UCS of treated specimens are obtained from direct shear test and unconfined compression test, respectively. Results of this study show that the addition of recycled polyester fiber and nano-Si O2 increases the strength of soil specimens. Both the shear strength and UCS are improved by increasing the contents of recycled polyester fiber and nano-Si O2 in the soil mixture. The increase in the nano-Si O2 content leads to a reduction in failure strain, but the increase in the content of recycled polyester fiber leads to an increase in failure strain. The increase in the contents of recycled polyester fiber and nanoSi O2 leads to an increase in elastic modulus of soils. Based on the test results, the addition of recycled polyester fiber improves the mechanical properties of soils stabilized with nano-Si O2 as well as the recycled polyester fiber has a positive effect on soil behaviors.Foad Changizi Abdolhosein Haddad 2015Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2015,7,4:7

3Sensitivity analysis of the vane length and passage width for a radial type swirler employed in a triple swirler configuration显示文摘The design of axial or radial swirlers typically governs a number of geometrical parameters that are determined by the desired flow field.In the meantime,the number of unknown parameters increases with the number of concentrically mounted swirlers.The available literature is nonetheless limited,and designers are obligated to increase the number of initial assumptions.In this article,three kinds of triple swirlers are employed and simulations are performed to determine the effect of each parameter on the swirler performance.Based on the correlation provided,overlengthening the radial vane length could result in significant changes in the flow field from the jetlike pattern to a wide swirl-jet angle due to the Coanda effect.Passage width should also have the potential to alter the swirl-jet angle and velocity field at the exit of the swirler.Foad Vashahi Shahnaz Rezaei Reza Alidoost Dafsari Jeekeun Lee 2019Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2019,9,6:3

5Performance assessment of a spiral methanol to hydrogen fuel processor for fuel cell applications显示文摘A novel design of plate-type microchannel reactor has been developed for fuel cell-grade hydrogen production.Commercial Cu/Zn/Al2O3 was used as catalyst for the reforming reaction,and its effectiveness was evaluated on the mole fraction of products,methanol conversion,hydrogen yield and the amount of carbon monoxide under various operating conditions.Subsequently,0.5 wt% Ru/Al2O3 as methanation catalyst was prepared by impregnation method and coupled with MSR step to evaluate the capability of methanol processor for CO reduction.Based on the experimental results,the optimum conditions were obtained as feed flow rate of 5mL/h and temperature of 250℃,leading to a low CO selectivity and high H2 yield.The designed reformer with catalyst coated layer was compared with the conventional packed bed reformer at the same operating conditions.The constructed fuel processor had a good performance and excellent capability for on-board hydrogen production.Foad Mehri Majid Taghizadeh 2012Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,5:2
