| 2 | Competing Theories for Improving Teacher Preparation Programs:The Case of North Carolina显示文摘Purpose:Written from the prospective of a school of education dean,the article describes how deans worked with researchers and university system staff to develop multiple measures of teacher preparation program(TPP)quality.Design/Approach/Methods:As a key participant in the development of a multi-methods approach to evaluating(TPP)quality,the author frequently interacted with the university system oversight staff,the researchers tasked with measuring TPP quality,and the school of education deans.The article draws on his experience in collaborating with individuals in these three groups over an 8-year period.The article also reviews the controversial history of hierarchical linear models as tools for evaluating TPPs.Findings:The author argues that over time and as a result of frequent conversations and discussions,the three groups collaborated in creating a data dashboard that provides TPP faculty with evidence that enables them to make data-informed improvements to their programs and satisfies policymakers’interest in informing the public of TPP quality.Originality/Value:Few,if any,articles have been published that describe a collaborative process for creating a data repository that can inform the continuous improvement of TPPs and address policymakers’concerns about teacher quality.Educators,researchers,and policymakers elsewhere may learn about how to develop a partnership focused on generating and using data in program improvement as well as the value of multiple measures in evaluating TPPs and informing policymakers. | G.Williamson McDiarmid | 2019 | ECNU Review of Education2019，2，2： | 1 |

| 4 | Innovations and Collaboration to Influence Policy and Practice: Global Deans Speak显示文摘Introduction For the second consecutive year,education deans and other institutional leaders from around the globe gathered on the campus of East China Normal University(ECNU)for the Global Education Deans Forum(GEDF),October 24–25,2019.Participants came from 10 countries/regions across 5 continents for 2 days of conversations,which included Australia(2),Canada(2),Chinese mainland(8),Hong Kong SAR(2),Ireland(1),Korea(1),Singapore(1),South Africa(1),Spain(2),the United Kingdom(3),and the United States(11).Based on suggestions from 2018 GEDF participants,the focus for conversations was:Increasing the influence of university research on educational policy and practice.Last year’s participants also requested that deans have time to describe promising innovations from their institutions. | G.Williamson McDiarmid | 2020 | ECNU Review of Education2020，3，3： | 0 |
| 5 | Time to Rethink:Educating for a Technology-Transformed World显示文摘Purpose:We hope to provoke a conversation about preparing students for an uncertain future that unforeseeable technological innovations will transform in ways we cannot predict.The unprecedented disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic makes this an opportune time to reconsiderall dimensions of education.Design/Approach/Methods:We present information on how technology is transforming virtually every aspect of our lives and the threats we face from social media,climate change,and growing inequality.We then analyze the adequacy of proposals for teaching new skills,such as 2Ist-Century Skills,to prepare students for a world of work that is changing at warp speed.Findings:Despite harbingers of a radically different future,most schools continue to operate much as they have for centuries,providing a one-size-fits-all education.Technology now enables an unprecedented degree of personalization.We can tailor learning opportunities to individual students'interests,talents,and potential with teachers serving as guides,resources,and critical friends.The Internet afford a cornucopia of learning opportunities-online courses,international experts,global collaborations,accessible databases,and libraries.Learning can occur virtually anywhere.Originality/Value:The future depends on decisions we are making today about education.The value of this article is that we call for rethinking every component of education rather than considering each element independently. | G.Williamson McDiarmid 赵勇 | 2023 | ECNU Review of Education2023，6，2： | 0 |
