| 2 | GIS-based risk analysis of debris flow:an application in Sichuan,southwest China显示文摘Debris flow is a serious geologic hazard in China.It is estimated that nationally debris flows cause up to 2 billion RMB(250 million US$) in damages and 300-600 deaths and injuries annually.To mitigate debris flow hazards,it is necessary to map,model,and identify zones of debris flow hazards and vulnerability as to inform the local people about the potential risk with a geographic information system.This research presents a regional scale case study modeling debris flow risk(hazard and vulnerability) in Sichuan Province,Southwestern China.In this area,3,290 debris flows have been identified and the spatial-temporal distribution and activity characteristics of them have been documented.Based on the available meteorological data,a Digital Elevation Model with the rate of 1:250,000 and a regional geological map,the 24-hr rainfall threshold(y) for debris flow occurrence is closely related(significant at 99% confidence level) to the index(x) defined using a geology factor(rock hardness:a) and a topographical factor(channel gradient:d) where y = 21 + 10200 / x,in which x = 2.7 × ea + 1000 × d.The discipline is constructive in developing the rainfall threshold for debris flow activity in remote mountainous areas that lack data.For a given watershed,a four-level debris flow hazard map is developed by comparing the rainfall threshold to the design rainfall intensities with 50-,20-,and 5-year average recurrence intervals,respectively.The degree of debris flow vulnerability is determined by the watershed socio-economic conditions.A four-class debris flow risk map,at the final phase of the research,is generated by combining debris flow hazards and vulnerability.With the debris flow risk assessment,the Sichuan Province is classified into the slight,moderate,severe and very severe regions,which accounts for 36%,19%,20% and 25% of total area respectively. | B. | 3 | Blockade of Tim-3 Pathway Ameliorates Interferon-γ Production from Hepatic CD8^+ T Cells in a Mouse Model of Hepatitis B Virus Infection显示文摘T cell immunoglobulin-and mucin-domain-containing molecule-3(Tim-3) has been reported to participate in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. However,whether Tim-3 is involved in hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection remains unknown. Here,we studied the expression and function of Tim-3 in a hydrodynamics-based mouse model of HBV infection. A significant increase of Tim-3 expression on hepatic T lymphocytes,especially on CD8+ T cells,was demonstrated in HBV model mice from day 7 to day 18. After Tim-3 knockdown by specific shRNAs,significantly increased IFN-γ production from hepatic CD8+ T cells in HBV model mice was observed. Very interestingly,we found Tim-3 expression on CD8+ T cells was higher in HBV model mice with higher serum anti-HBs production. Moreover,Tim-3 knockdown influenced anti-HBs production in vivo. | 4 | Process analysis of PM_(2.5) pollution events in a coastal city of China using CMAQ显示文摘US EPA's Community Multiscale Air Quality modeling system(CMAQ) with Process Analysis tool was used to simulate and quantify the contribution of individual atmospheric processes to PM_(2.5) concentration in Qingdao during three representative PM_(2.5) pollution events in the winter of 2015 and 2016. Compared with the observed surface PM_(2.5) concentrations, CMAQ could reasonably reproduce the temporal and spatial variations of PM_(2.5) during these three events. Process analysis results show that primary emissions accounted for 72.7%–93.2% of the accumulation of surface PM_(2.5) before and after the events.When the events occurred, primary emissions were still the major contributor to the increase of PM_(2.5) in Qingdao, however the contribution percentage reduced significantly,which only account for 51.4%–71.8%. Net contribution from horizontal and vertical transport to the accumulation of PM_(2.5) was also positive and its percentage increased when events occurred. Only 1.1%–4.6% of aerosol accumulation was due to PM processes and aqueous chemical processes before and after events. When the events occurred,contribution from PM processes and aqueous chemistry increased to 6.0%–11.8%. Loss of PM_(2.5) was mainly through horizontal transport, vertical transport and dry deposition, no matter during or outside the events. | 5 | Biofunctional magnesium coated Ti6Al4V scaffold enhances osteogenesis and angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo for orthopedic application显示文摘The insufficient osteogenesis and osseointegration of porous titanium based scaffold limit its further application.Early angiogenesis is important for scaffold survival.It is necessary to develop a multifunctional surface on titanium scaffold with both osteogenic and angiogenic properties.In this study,a biofunctional magnesium coating is deposited on porous Ti6Al4V scaffold.For osseointegration and osteogenesis analysis,in vitro studies reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V co-culture with MC3T3-E1 cells can improve cell proliferation,adhesion,extracellular matrix(ECM)mineralization and ALP activity compared with bare Ti6Al4V cocultivation.Additionally,MC3T3-E1 cells cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V show significantly higher osteogenesisrelated genes expression.In vivo studies including fluorochrome labeling,micro-computerized tomography and histological examination of magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold reveal that new bone regeneration is significantly increased in rabbits after implantation.For angiogenesis studies,magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V improve HUVECs proliferation,adhesion,tube formation,wound-healing and Transwell abilities.HUVECs cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V display significantly higher angiogenesis-related genes(HIF-1αand VEGF)expression.Microangiography analysis reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold can significantly enhance the blood vessel formation.This study enlarges the application scope of magnesium and provides an optional choice to the conventional porous Ti6Al4V scaffold with enhanced osteogenesis and angiogenesis for further orthopedic applications. | Peng Gao Bo Fan Xiaoming Yu Wenwen Liu Jie Wu Lei Shi Di Yang Lili Tan Peng Wan Yulin Hao Shujun Li Wentao Hou Ke Yang Xiaokang Li Zheng Guo | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 15 |
| 6 | Fengyun Meteorological Satellite Products for Earth System Science Applications显示文摘Following the progress of satellite data assimilation in the 1990s, the combination of meteorological satellites and numerical models has changed the way scientists understand the earth. With the evolution of numerical weather prediction models and earth system models, meteorological satellites will play a more important role in earth sciences in the future. As part of the space-based infrastructure, the Fengyun (FY) meteorological satellites have contributed to earth science sustainability studies through an open data policy and stable data quality since the first launch of the FY-1A satellite in 1988. The capability of earth system monitoring was greatly enhanced after the second-generation polar orbiting FY-3 satellites and geostationary orbiting FY-4 satellites were developed. Meanwhile, the quality of the products generated from the FY-3 and FY-4 satellites is comparable to the well-known MODIS products. FY satellite data has been utilized broadly in weather forecasting, climate and climate change investigations, environmental disaster monitoring, etc. This article reviews the instruments mounted on the FY satellites. Sensor-dependent level 1 products (radiance data) and inversion algorithm-dependent level 2 products (geophysical parameters) are introduced. As an example, some typical geophysical parameters, such as wildfires, lightning, vegetation indices, aerosol products, soil moisture, and precipitation estimation have been demonstrated and validated by in-situ observations and other well-known satellite products. To help users access the FY products, a set of data sharing systems has been developed and operated. | 7 | Protective effect of recombinant human IL-1Ra on CCl_4-induced acute liver injury in mice显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effects of positive regulation of recombinant human interleukin 1 receptor antagonist (rhIL-1Ra) on hepatic tissue recovery in acute liver injury in mice induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ). METHODS: Acute liver damage was induced by injecting 8-wk-old mice with CCl 4 1 mL/kg (1:3 dilution in corn oil) intraperitoneally (ip). Survival after liver failure was assessed by injecting 8-wk-old mice with a lethal dose of CCl 4 2.6 mL/kg (1:1 dilution in corn oil) ip. Mice were subcutaneously injected with 1 mg/kg recombinant human IL-1Ra twice a day after CCl 4 treatment for 5 d. Serum alanine amino transferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels were determined with a commercial assay kit. Serum IL-1β, IL-1Ra levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to determine liver IL-1β, IL-1Ra and IL-6 expression during CCl 4-induced acute liver injury. Liver sections were stained with hematoxylin-eosin. A histology-injury grading system was used to evaluate the degree of necrosis after acute liver injury. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) staining was used to evaluate the role of rhIL-1Ra in promoting hepatocyte proliferation. RESULTS: Quantitative analysis showed a higher level of IL-6 mRNA expression and reduced serum AST and ALT levels in the livers of the rhIL-1Ra-treated group at the early phase of CCl 4-induced acute liver injury. Histological examination indicated a decrease in centrilobular necrotic areas in mice treated with rhIL-1Ra, and a novel role of rhIL-1Ra in promoting hepatocyte proliferation was also supported by an increase of PCNA staining. All these results, accompanied by a strong survival benefit in rhIL-1Ra-treated vs PBS-treated groups, demonstrated that rhIL-1Ra administration ameliorated the histological damage and accelerated the regeneration and recovery process of the liver. | 8 | Type I IFN augments IL-27-dependent TRIM25 expression to inhibit HBV replication显示文摘Hepatitis B virus(HBV)can cause chronic hepatitis B,which may lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer.Type I interferon(IFN)is an approved drug for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B.However,the fundamental mechanisms of antiviral action by type I IFN and the downstream signaling pathway are unclear.TRIM25 is an IFN-stimulated gene(ISG)that has an important role in RIG-I ubiquitination and activation.Whether TRIM25 is induced in liver cells by type I IFN to mediate anti-HBV function remains unclear.Here we report that interleukin-27(IL-27)has a critical role in IFN-induced TRIM25 upregulation.TRIM25 induction requires both STAT1 and STAT3.In TRIM25 knockout HepG2 cells,type I IFN production was consistently attenuated and HBV replication was increased,whereas overexpression of TRIM25 in HepG2 cells resulted in elevated IFN production and reduced HBV replication.More interestingly,we found that TRIM25 expression was downregulated in HBV patients and the addition of serum samples from HBV patients could inhibit TRIM25 expression in HepG2 cells,suggesting that HBV might have involved a mechanism to inhibit antiviral ISG expression and induce IFN resistance.Collectively,our results demonstrate that type I IFN-induced TRIM25 is an important factor in inhibiting HBV replication,and the IFN-IL-27-TRIM25 axis may represent a new target for treating HBV infection. | Guangyun Tan Qingfei Xiao Hongxiao Song Feng Ma Fengchao Xu Di Peng Na Li Xiaosong Wang Junqi Niu Pujun Gao F Xiao-Feng Qin Genhong Cheng | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,3: | 13 |

| 10 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 12 | Effects of anesthetic methods on preserving anti-tumor T-helper polarization following hepatectomy显示文摘AIM:To investigate the impact of different anesthetic techniques on T-helper(Th) cell subsets in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients undergoing hepatectomy.METHODS:Sixty-one HCC patients who received hepatectomies were randomized into an epidural combined general anesthesia(G + E;n = 31) or a general anesthesia(G;n = 30) group.Blood samples were obtained the morning before the operation(d0),and on the second(d2) and seventh(d7) day after the operation.Th cell contents were evaluated using flow cytometry,realtime reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:In all 61 patients,Th1 and Th2 cell frequencies,and interferon-(IFN-) mRNA expression markedly increased on d2,compared to d0.They recovered slightly on d7,and the Th1/Th2 ratio increased markedly on d7,compared with d2.In contrast,Th17,regulatory T cell(Treg),and interleukin-17(IL-17) levels and FOXP3 mRNA expression showed no significant change on d2,and then markedly decreased on d7.Similarly,plasma IFN-concentration on d2 was much higher than that on d0,and then partly recovered on d7.As compared with the G group,in the G + E group,Th1 cell frequencies and the Th1/Th2 ratio were slightly higher on d2 and significantly higher on d7,while Th2,Th17,and Treg cell frequencies were slightly lower on d2,and significantly lower on d7.Consistently,on d7,IFN-mRNA and protein levels and the IFN-/IL-4 ratio in the G + E group were higher than those in the G group.In contrast,the IL-17 mRNA level,and IL-17 and transforming growth factor-1 concentrations in the G + E group were lower than those in the G group.CONCLUSION:G + E is superior to G in shifting the Th1/Th2 balance towards Th1,while decreasing Th17 and Treg,potentially benefiting HCC patients by promoting anti-tumor Th polarization. | Di Zhou Fang-Ming Gu Qiang Gao Quan-Lin Li Jian Zhou Chang-Hong Miao, | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,24: | 11 |

| 14 | Crystal structure of the swine-origin A (H1N1)- 2009 influenza A virus hemagglutinin (HA) reveals similar antigenicity to that of the 1918 pandemic virus显示文摘Influenza virus is the causative agent of the seasonal and occasional pandemic flu.The current H1N1 influenza pandemic,announced by the WHO in June 2009,is highly contagious and responsible for global economic losses and fatalities.Although the H1N1 gene segments have three origins in terms of host species,the virus has been named swine-origin influenza virus(S-OIV)due to a predominant swine origin.2009 S-OIV has been shown to highly resemble the 1918 pandemic virus in many aspects.Hemagglutinin is responsible for the host range and receptor binding of the virus and is therefore a primary indicator for the potential of infection.Primary sequence analysis of the 2009 S-OIV hemagglutinin(HA)reveals its closest relationship to that of the 1918 pandemic influenza virus,however,analysis at the structural level is necessary to critically assess the functional significance.In this report,we report the crystal structure of soluble hemagglutinin H1(09H1)at 2.9Å,illustrating that the 09H1 is very similar to the 1918 pandemic HA(18H1)in overall structure and the structural modules,including the five defined antiboby(Ab)-binding epitopes.Our results provide an explanation as to why sera from the survivors of the 1918 pandemics can neutralize the 2009 S-OIV,and people born around the 1918 are resistant to the current pandemic,yet younger generations are more susceptible to the 2009 pandemic. | Wei Zhang Jianxun Qi Yi Shi Qing Li Feng Gao Yeping Sun Xishan Lu Qiong Lu Christopher J.Vavricka Di Liu Jinghua Yan George F.Gao | 2010 | Protein & Cell2010,1,5: | 10 |

| 16 | Chrysanthemum WRKY15-1 promotes resistance to Puccinia horiana Henn. via the salicylic acid signaling pathway显示文摘Chrysanthemum white rust disease,which is caused by the fungus Puccinia horiana Henn.,severely reduces the ornamental quality and yield chrysanthemum.WRKY transcription factors function in the disease-resistance response in a variety of plants;however,it is unclear whether members of this family improve resistance to white rust disease in chrysanthemum.In this study,using PCR,we isolated a WRKY15 homologous gene,CmWRKY15-1,from the resistant chrysanthemum cultivar C029.Real-time quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR)revealed that CmWRKY15-1 exhibited differential expression patterns between the immune cultivar C029 and the susceptible cultivar Jinba upon P.horiana infection.In addition,salicylic acid(SA)treatment strongly induced CmWRKY15-1 expression.Overexpression of CmWRKY15-1 in the chrysanthemum-susceptible cultivar Jinba increased tolerance to P.horiana infection.Conversely,silencing CmWRKY15-1 via RNA interference(RNAi)in C029 increased sensitivity to P.horiana infection.We also determined that P.horiana infection increased both the endogenous SA content and the expression of salicylic acid biosynthesis genes in CmWRKY15-1-overexpressing plants,whereas CmWRKY15-1 RNAi plants exhibited the opposite effects under the same conditions.Finally,the transcript levels of pathogenesis-related(PR)genes involved in the SA pathway were positively associated with CmWRKY15-1 expression levels.Our results demonstrated that CmWRKY15-1 plays an important role in the resistance of chrysanthemum to P.horiana by influencing SA signaling. | Mengmeng Bi Xueying Li Xin Yan Di Liu Ge Gao Pengfang Zhu Hongyu Mao | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 9 |

Hydrothermal temperatures and times were adjusted to control the particle sizes and the quantum yields of the obtained CQDs. The as-prepared carbon quantum dots showed narrow particle size distribution, good water solubility, and acceptable fluorescence lifetimes. Due to their high stability, these obtained carbon quantum dots have great application potential in nano-biotechnology. | 20 | Effect of a thermokarst lake on soil physical properties and infiltration processes in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘Changes in the hydrological processes in alpine soil constitute one of the several key problems encountered with studying watershed hydrology and ecosystem stability against the background of global warming. A typically developing thermokarst lake was chosen as a subject for a study using model simulation based on observations of soil physical properties, infiltration processes, and soil moisture. The results showed that the selected thermokarst lake imposed certain changes on the soil infiltration processes and, with the degree of impact intensifying, the initial infiltration rate decreased. The greatest reduction was achieved in the area of moderate impact. However, the stable infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration gradually increased in the surface layer at a depth of 10 and 20 cm, both decreasing initially and then increasing, which is correlated significantly with soil textures. Moreover, the cumulative infiltration changed in line with steady infiltration rate. Based on a comparative analysis, the Horton model helps better understand the effect on the soil infiltration processes of the cold alpine meadow close to the chosen thermokarst lake.
