| 1 | Magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosis and neoadjuvant treatment evaluation in locally advanced rectal cancer:A pictorial review显示文摘High-resolution pelvic magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) is the primary method for staging rectal cancer.MRI is highly accurate in the primary staging of rectal cancer;however,it has not proven to be effective in restaging,especially in complete response evaluation after neoadjuvant therapy.Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy produces many changes in rectal tumors and on adjacent area,as a result,local tumor extent may not be accurately determined.However,adding diffusion-weighted sequences to the standard approach can improve diagnostic accuracy.In this pictorial review,an overview of the situation of MRI in the staging and re-staging of rectal cancer is exhibited as a pictorial assay.An experience-and literature-based discussion of limitations and difficulties in interpretation are also presented. | Gulgun Engin Rasul Sharifov | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2017，8，3： | 8 |
| 2 | Phenolic compounds affect production of pyocyanin, swarming motility and biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa显示文摘Objective: To investigate the effects of plant-derived phenolic compounds(i.e. caffeic acid, cinnamic acid, ferulic acid and vanillic acid) on the production of quorum sensing regulated virulence factors such as pyocyanin, biofilm formation and swarming motility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P. aeruginosa) isolates.Methods: Fourteen clinical P. aeruginosa isolates obtained from urine samples and P. aeruginosa PA01 strain were included in the study. The antibacterial effects of phenolic compounds were screened by well diffusion assay. Pyocyanin and biofilm activity were measured from culture supernatants and the absorbance values were measured using a spectrophotometer. Swarming plates supplemented with phenolic acids were point inoculated with P. aeruginosa strains and the ability to swarm was determined by measuring the distance of swarming from the central inoculation site.Results: Tested phenolic compounds reduced the production of pyocyanin and biofilm formation without affecting growth compared to untreated cultures. Moreover, these compounds blocked about 50% of biofilm production and swarming motility in P. aeruginosa isolates.Conclusions: We may suggest that if swarming and consecutive biofilm formation could be inhibited by the natural products as shown in our study, the bacteria could not attach to the surfaces and produce chronic infections. | 3 | Imatinib response of gastrointestinal stromal tumor patients with germline mutation on KIT exon 13:A family report显示文摘Familial gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder associated with mutations in the KIT gene in the majority of cases. Although, exon 11 appears to be the hot spot region for approximately 95% of germline mutations, pathogenic variations have also been identified in exon 8, 13 and 17. Exon 13 germline mutations are extremely rare amongst familial GISTs and seven families with a germline mutation have been reported to date. Moreover, the role of imatinib mesylate in this rare familiar settings is not completely known so far.
